If I am in that position to avoid the person's phone call, I will make my mom or my brother to attend the call and insist to say that I am not available. This happen quite often to my dad too. What will you do? Happy myloting

I just don't answer the phone. If it was important then they would leave a message. If I can, I get my husband to answer the phone and tell who ever it is that I'm busy. If they call my cell I just don't answer because I have caller ID on it and a great little button that sends it straight to voice mail.

wow, nice topic... I think it happened at least once to most of us... HEHE... I've tried all of those mentioned by the others and sometimes, I just literally ignore the call... I can't simply answer it and say "I don't want to talk to you" hehehhe....

I always have this kind of problem. There are many "junk calls" which ask me buy insurances or loan money. Almost one to two per day. I don't know the callers at all, and I don't know how they get my phone number... Worse of all, their phone numbers won't be displayed on the screen of my phone. Therefore, I have no solution but to accept the call, and terminate it immediately when I know that they are calling for promotions. Actually, many people in Hong Kong are facing this problem. Totally out of control...

nice discussion....this happens to me often.it is really hard to just tell them that we don't wanna talk to them. i just answer the phone but i don't speak at all, then i drop the phone. most of them don't call again after the second time.

If a caller calls me and i want to avoid him the only thing i can wish he calls my mobile number as i dont have caller identification at intercom of society. Then i got no option but to let the cell phone ring as much as that person wants it to ring and make sure not to off it soon and then dont pick up phone from any unknown number on the cell for next 30 mins because that person may be calling from public phone or some other phone. Then when he meets me and ask me y i didnt pick up the phone..i lie:( sorry boss forgot phone in car.

I just won't answer. I always check who is calling me and if it's an unusual number or someone I know I don't want to talk to, I just let it ring. I wouldn't want someone to lie for me...I'd rather just leave the caller wondering where I am

There's not really any way to avoid phone calls in our house since we don't have caller ID. The only way to really avoid phone calls would be to let the answer machine get the call. If it's important, we can call the person back...assuming they leave a message. We are hoping to up out phone plan by the end of the year. By that time, we'll get all the bells and whistles that we can get. That would be nice, especially if we had long distance. When we need to call long distance, we have to use our cell phones.

If I do not want to talk to the person on the other end, I just do not answer my phone. If someone else happens to answer the phone, I have to talk, so I will just make it as quick as possible. Normally, I have a lot to do, so for me to tell someone that I am busy is normally the truth, and MOST people understand that about me.

If you have caller display which I have now,I can choose to answer or not,no problem.Becareful who you give your number to.Always be out or busy with something else. They will soon give up the best one is to make arrangements then blow them out,at the last minute. They will think you are unreliable and stop bothering with you.Never stand anyone up that is really uncalled for. This is how deal with unwanted calls. It works for me.Another one is say I must check my diary odear I am busy that day in actual fact I am fully booked for two months sorry, what a shame.Even the most dense person will give up.

Well I will look at the number that is calling me on the caller id and if I dont want to talk to them. I will just not pick up the phone. Our I will have someone else answer for me and say I am not available.

I have caller ID... what a great invention. I will just scan the number and see who it is and if it's the person that i am trying to avoid I will then let my answering machine pick it up. If by chance, my husband answers the phone, I will just tell him to take a message, but most generally all of our call go to the answering machine anyways, lol.
