So Upset!

I'm so upset! My star rating dropped from a 9 to an 8! I've been a 9 for months and months and months! I've been trying so hard to get a 10! I have no idea why my rating would have dropped! I always try to be so helpful to other MyLot users! I love to give advice, answer questions and share information with other MyLotters. So I don't know why my rating would have dropped. I hope it goes up soon. This makes me really sad! Does it upset you when your rating goes down? Do you even pay attention to your rating? Do you get jealous when you see other users with a higher rating than you? (Especially if their total post count is much lower than yours!) Haha, I'm not sure if I'm totally crazy, or if other MyLotters feel the same way I do!

I actually just got a star and I have no idea what they are for or why people have them or what the numbers mean. Someone told be yesterday right before I got mine that you get a star after 100 post, which I did. But, I have yet to figure out what the numbers mean. Maybe I shouldn't find out, cause it will probably bother me too if it drops.

It has to do with how positively/negatively your posts are rated. The more + ratings you get, the higher your number!

Thank you for letting me know. I rarely see anyone that should be voted with a -. It seems to me that only purposely non-helpful and rude people should be given a -. That doesn't seem right to give someone who tried to help or answer correctly a negative.

Soon you have seen your star by this. The star rating is not taking serious again in this community. I drop from a 9,8,7,6 and 5. Now I am back at 6 my encouragement to you is to just contribute and make friends and at the end of the month collect what MYLOT is giving to you. If you follow this star thing you will get depress and run left this community.

well, i think that the star it`s changed once/moth, depending on how many post did you made and haw many + you`ve got. I have just 220 post and have the 9 star, but i must work so hard, to obtain that 10.. Starting from tomorrow, i`ll make at least 50 posts/ day. Sometimes i don`t have time, or any ideas to post a lot, but sometimes.. Hope that i`ll reach the payout this month. Too bad that i`m not having any reffs. Hope that my star will not drop at 8 or 7.. you made me post more, to mentain my star, or even to get that 10..

Good luck reaching your goals!!! 50 posts per day takes a lot of work! For me, it's a good day if I've made 10 posts!

I wish I could write 50 posts a day. I seem to average about 20 even when I am trying very hard.

I used to worry about it but there really is not point in worrying about it because it can be used as a punishment. If someone decides they don't like something you have said they can go and rate all your discussions a negative and your star will drop. I have been an 8 for as long as I have had my star

I do feel sad when my rating drops. And it is always a puzzle as to why it drops. But once it drops, you have to work extra hard to get it back up. No, I am not jealous to see other people with higher ratings. They worked hard to get their ratings. And I am sure they deserve the rating they are having. No reason to be jealous about it. Well, we can chat more and give each other more positive ratings. That is the only way I know of working towards improving your star rating.

the last time i checked, i don't have this star on my name.then when i checked today, now i have a 7. i don't know how i got it but it's a not big deal for me. question though, does rating affects the payout? i mean, does mylot pays a 10rank member more than a 6rank member? anyway or anyhow, whatever it is, i am happy here and happy mylotting to you!

I have no idea if ratings affect the payout or not... I *think* they do, but that's just a guess. I have nothing to back that up with!

Hey do not worry about this.Mylot is a community where people from all walks of life participate and it may be possible that our opinions, views and thoughts clash with each other. It is natural on the part of human beings to think and act differently. All five fingers are not equal. Some persons might have hit the negative button but it should not dwindle your faith in mylot. I do not feel jealous when i see other members ratings going up but i take it as a healthy competition and try to be more creative, error free and informative in my writings. Happy mylotting.

Oh yea I would be upset too! That happened to some of my friends before they were really upset! I totally understand your feelings, however I don't understand why it happened. I do pay attention to my rating but I won't be jealous, I think every rating means something, indeed, it would motivate me to post here and to get better.

Take it easy, my dear friend. Actually my rating was dropped to 9 but tonight my reputation became to be blue again. Some people just rate people's post negative on purpose. So don't take it to your heart. It doesn't mean anything. I know you are a good person. I hope you will get your 10 star soon. I will rate your response positive, as I always do:) I love China

Yes, I get upset. My rating dropped to a nine for about 7 months now. I had an 10. But, my rating dropped down to a 9. I was very upset when it happened.. But, I got over it.. And till this day, I have a very good idea whom dropped it too. But, As usual, I will continue to post at myLot without any stress of my rating being dropped. I have been here since 10 months as of now.. And since those 7 months my rating has never went back to a 10. It may have went to a 9, then up to a 92.. That is about all. Then my rating star will remain red as usual. It will take many plus ratings for my star to get back up.. A good 30 may help.. But myLotter's will have to do this so that it will become back to a 10. I know how you must feel that it has dropped back down.. It feels like all of your hard efforts have went to waste. But, it has not.. Keep on posting quality posting, and never mind the haters! Sometimes, people do it when they did not like a discussion or a comment that you made. While others are just plain old jealous of what you post and your ratings.. Then there are trolls that just want to be mean for no reason. Keep on doing the best you that can! As long as myLot webmastrer did not get rid of you, then you are here to stay!!!

It happened to me once, that's two months ago. I guess it dropped because i posted some discussions that someone hated or felt being offended. There's no need to get upset, and don't care too much about the rating, for a good rating doesn't mean a thousand dollars, we can see a lots of mylotters whose points are above 1000, or 2000, or even 3000 and their rating is 3 ,4 or 5.

I didn't noticed about these stars before. Yesterday for the first time I got a star over my avatar. It was brown in color with the rating of three. This made me interested and excited in mylot. So I kept on posting more than before and today I already got blue star with the rating of four. I don't know what are the factors for the evaluation of this. But I don't really get jealous on looking at the stars of the other mylot users. Rather I have never compared it ha ha. Well, Keep on posting, hope you will increase your rating soon again. Best of luck and happy mylotting.

When I first got here, I was ranked at a nine for a week or two, then I just recently dropped to an eight, but it really didn't matter to me, as I did not know what they meant at the time. I always give a positive response to any discussion that I respnd to, and I am hoping that people do the same to me. I think this question is a good reminder to us all to not just blindly answer things, but to rate and rank and keep MyLot working smoothly. I hope you give me a nice plus for this, I have done the same for you!

I understand where you are coming from .There was a period when my rating floated between a 9 and ten and I got very upset about it because this all happened overnight. In fact I have written many a discussions on this very topic and I have found from other mylotters that there is no rhyme or reason to why you loose ranking .Usually though your ranking is determined by the ratings that you get form other mylotters. The thing though is that all it takes is one dissatified mylot on a campaign to smear you and he can start a process to start reducing all your discussions and pretty soon it may also incite others to do the same.I can never understand this phenomenon but some people cant be satisfied with just diaagreeing with your views, they have to find a way to reduce your ratings and get others to do the same .These persons are called "trolls " i believe.Dont be disheartened though continue to post and make friends ,that is what I did and now my ratings have been constant now for the longest while.
