I don't look in the mirror but Yes I give myself pep talks. Today especially because tomorrow my daughter has surgery and I keep saying, "It's going to be Okay and God has everything under his watchful eye." Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Thank You

That is good that you are able to have that kind of spirituality within yourself. You keep at it Grandma. Those pep talks probably can do wonders for some people. I am personally going to try that myself. Everyone needs a little pick up once in a while. Might as well perk ourselves up with our own encouragement.

Yes..once in a while we all need a pep talk..and sometimes I do it out loud and am very glad no one is around to hear! LOL...seriously...sometimes our confidence is lacking and a good talking to....even by ourselves is necessary..if we don't have confidence in ourselves we can't get it from others!

You get more sense when you give yourself a pep talk because who else whos you better than yourself? You know your capabilities, your strengths and weaknesses so you know what you ask of yourself is possible. I am always talking to myself giving myself regular pep talks, trouble is I do tend to be over analytical about things and tend to be very hard on myself, so I can be a critical and sometimes damning. I do find however the best time to give myself a pep talk is when I am driving, because I am far more relaxed and I am on my own. I have made some sound decisions and I've told myself not to be so stupid at times and when you tell yourself stuff you believe them more if you are more assertive in your pep talk.

That is very important. Be assertive in our peptalks. Now that will help many people. I need to be more assertive in my peptalks. Just seeing those words made me realise it. It is good to find the right time for our pep talks. We may each have a different time and we have to pick the best!

Thats when you increase the strictness on asserting yourself...thats the point of them to reinforce the positive lol we all have to work on it. Have alot of fun mylotting and appreciate the response.

I had to smile when I read your discussion because I do it all the time; I give myself pep talks and I am often caught chatting to myself. I don't necessarily do it in front of a mirror but I do find that if I have something important on my mind I have to verbalize my thoughts. Most of the people who know me well laugh at my "self talk"; I find it really helps me to motivate myself every now and again.

Of course! We should always give ourselves pep talks if we need some pep! Right? Sometimes a second opinion might make you feel better but go with the flow.

No. But I have always talked out loud. It helps me think and hear what I am saying. I think I have always talked out loud. It started in high school. It is great therapy too.

Yes, we are not suppose to keep it all bottled in. We are suppose to get it out! Talking is very good therapy and so are peptalks. SO, WE NEED TO LAUGH, TALK, AND HAVE PEP TALKS ALL AT THE SAME TIME LOL

I don't think I have given myself a pep talk in quite a while. If anything I have a tendency to put myself down and I feel discouraged a lot of the time. I think that maybe I should start looking in the mirror and giving myself some much needed encouragement. You have given me something to think about eaforeman. Thank you.
