I am not into sweets but honestly, I haven't tried this when I was in the Philippines. I grew up in a small town and I just don't see anyone selling fried ice cream before. ANyway, I tried it tonight and it was not the same to what I imagine! hehehehe! Do you like it? I wish to attached picture but it's only a left over, I didn't eat it a lot, not a good photo! Thanks for sharing!

Hey checapricorn! I have never had fried ice cream in my life! I have always wanted to try it, but have never had the chance! What is fried ice cream anyway? It sounds so yummy! Would you please be kind enough to describe it to me because I have always heard of it, but never knew what it was!

"This is commonly made by taking a scoop of ice cream frozen well below the temperature at which ice cream is generally kept, possibly coating it in raw egg, rolling it in cornflakes or cookie crumbs, and briefly deep frying it. The extremely low temperature of the ice cream prevents it from melting while being fried. It may be sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and a touch of peppermint, though whipped cream or honey may be used as well" I was thinking i'm the only fried ice cream virgin...lol! I do know if you will like it but I hope you can try soon!

I tried it once at a resuraunt because I thought that it sounded really wierd and all they did was roll it in what looked like rice krispies and put on the topping and put it in a waffle bowl. So i've never really had the real thing but i hope to. I am a big icecream fan! :) But you didn't like it?

I have had plenty of chances to try it, but I never have, My brother told me that it is really good, but to me, the words fried and ice-cream do not belong in the same sentence, let alone actually being done.

never had fried ice cream or a baked alaska - I don't eat a lot of fried foods when they are breaded - I worry about the breading, many of them have corn in them.

even before I knew about corn in the breading, I've never cared for the breading - I remember pulling it off the chicken when I was a kid.

Hello checapricorn, I never tried it before but it looks so tempting when I look at the photo of fried ice- cream. I came across the recipe a few years back but that time I didn't really care of learning all the cooking stuff. My sister's sister in law, knows how to make ice-cream too (she is a Filipino) and whenever I go to her house, that is the first thing I will ask her - without feeling ashamed!

I have only had it one time and it was a long time ago. But I think I liked it if I remember correctly. I don't remember what it tasted like. I would certainly be willing to try it again if given the opportunity. Of course I will try anything sweet.

I saw one time in a television show, the story about this fried ice cream. If I can remember right, that was in Bacolod City or somewhere in the Visayas. I told my wife about it and she said let's try it one time. But until now, even here in Cebu, I don't see anyone selling fried ice cream...

I've tried the kind of ice cream coated by fried tempura batter. is that what you are talking about? I saw a fried ice cream kiosk in the mall but that's not really fried ice cream. i think they just have a unique way of preparing the ice cream (powdered, yuck!) which makes people want to buy. But he tempura ice cream I've tried in a local Japanese restaurant is really good. We always have it for dessert when we go to that restaurant.

I have heard about fried ice cream but I haven't tried this one yet and I am a bit curious how does it look like and how would it taste. I am thinking that when you fry an ice cream it would melt that is why I am a bit curious. I would try to have it next time when the resto that I eat at does offer this in there menu. Thanks for reminding me to answer to my curiosity.
