yeah thats right I said and I meant it! Some of you make me want to puke. You disgust me! Now before you all fly off the handle at me hear me out.
I spent this morning doing two things here. 1) reporting a plagiarizer and 2) talking to a "newbie" who was being labeled after only one post. Yeah so what the "newbie" had been here before, that isnt a crime. If it is then alot of us are guilty of that crime. This "newbie" had been here 11 minutes and only had 1 post (and it was within guidelines) when someone viciously attacked them calling them a troll. yet this plagiarizer has been here long enough to have earned the right to copy/paste and abuse the right. Explain to me WHY the blatant cheater gets to stay here without being reported by a lot of you but someone who hasnt done anything wrong gets run out of here. You attack newbies and label them as trolls but yet you stand by and allow a person with over 500 posts to cheat? What the hell is wrong with you people? For those FEW that did report the plagiarizer, thank you this is not about you.
I remember when I first started here 3 years ago as zukepr I was received warmly and kindly as a newbie. I was welcomed into this community with open arms. And now look at this place! You let cheaters cheat and you piss away all the newbies so all that is going to be left are the cheaters. This site is messed up and its no one's fault but yours. Dont blame admin when this site fails. Blame yourselves! Your blindness and paranoia are destroying this place.

I have been so caught up with external things the last month or so, that I'm WAY off the ball lately when it comes to having the chance to see and report plagiarizers. 
I've followed around a few in the past though! As for newbies, I've got no issues with people coming back with new accounts at all. The only time I get my hackles up, is when they flat out lie about it! I've had one ongoing battle with a person that's been back here with new usernames EIGHTEEN times now!!!! And they deny it each and every time. This crap I have no tolerance for.
I will always welcome a newbie in my discussions too. Anyone that sees my posts will recognize this..... I don't know what the heck goes on here sometimes, but I've been here almost 3 years too and there have certainly been some backward steps when it comes to situations like the ones you've just shared. At times there appears to be no rhyme or reason behind things at all.

people are getting the wrong idea of this place because of the negative behavior of some users here
this place is falling apart at the seams and as a veteran user here I just dont like what I see

I know which post you are talking about, and I gave them the benefit of the doubt at first, then said something you corrected me and I agreed you were wrong, so I hope you are meaning the posts above mine on that one....
Having said that, people are a little mean about people being trolls, It is probably because of how many are out there...but when it comes down to it, why should you post replies on a speculated troll, when that is only going to make them money... but either way, if that person wasnt a troll, then they left for being made to feel horrible for being new. And that isnt right and it isnt fair!

I agree 100% we should always give someone the benefit of the doubt and try and help. For instance there was a post that was not in the guidelines, I found out they were new, because it was the only activity on their profile, so I told them nicely this wasnt a proper discussion and to please check the FAQS before posting another. Because if someone is new, they might need a little guiding and a little patience, you know?
I know people are fed up with it, but as you said making assumptions and jumping to conclusions and being rude is not going to help this site grow and be a great place for new people! =)

not a big deal!
yes there are trolls here
there have been trolls on this site since the very first day
that does not mean that every new user is a troll
that does not mean that everyone that comes back with a new account is a troll
we should not be feeding the paranoia caused by trolls
we should report the trollish behavior
we should NOT just assume that a person will behave trollishly
our time could be better spent report blatant violations

I was gone for two years and see that things have gone weird around here..I see you wanted to vent about it and I don't blame you. I remember when I started here and got nothing but respect and kindness from the people who had already been here so if that's what happened to a newbie, I feel bad for them...and yes you are very right. If this place does go to crap, they can't blame anybody but themselves. I can take myself out of the population because whenever a newbie or what I call a freshman contact me or comment to my discussions I always lend a hand in helping them and welcoming them into the site...so yeah, I understand what you are saying and thank you for saying it...

I missed this whole ordeal. I think I'm glad too. I'm not extremely new, but I don't start many discussions either. Not too many people respond to discussion that have substance. So, I don't come too often. I like this site and I hope more people come with something to say. It can be a great site, if people would stop talking about dumb stuff and running people away! I hope 'we' get it together!

I have to admit that when I read some of your comments on another discussion today I wasn't too pleased with you. Thank you for posting this! I feel a little ashamed that I felt any sort of ill will against you at all. Not that I was really angry at you, I just kind of got the idea that you were one of those report freaks that goes scouting out people to report on every little violation of the 'tos'. I see now that you are a caring individual that just wants people to do the right thing and be kind to eachother. That is my goal on here as well. I haven't really seen anyone cheating on here, but I'm not an advid reader of the tos. I think enough people rant about the letter of the law on here that I get the basic gist. Haha. I would hope that should I ever slip and make a mistake that you would be kind enough to let me know so that I can correct my mistake and not have to be reported. I realize that there are people that don't care and just go about doing as they please anyhow, but not everyone out there is like that. I do hope that this 'newbie' is okay now. And, I wish you all warm reguards for keeping the 'real' cheaters out.

I may be a freak but I am not a report freak LOL
I dont enjoy wasting my time report cheaters when I could be contributing in a more constructive way

Well i will say this was a smart way 2 make us understand the things. I will surely look into the matter and try my best to deal with cheaters and frauds.

I remember when I started, there was a sort of taskforce created to stop things like this.
I don't know what happened, but it seems like most of the people just up and left, and the group disbanded.
The myLot police were doing a great job of keeping the site clean, but only for the time that they existed.
I haven't been around much lately myself, I've just been busy with other things, but there needs to be rules set for everyone to see, and if people don't want to read and follow the rules, then they should leave.
Sure I've pasted a couple of things before that were copied, but they are things that I wrote, I have the copies on my computer still.

even though there is no longer an openly active organised police unit there are still those who are crime fighters here and will continue to do what is right

I truly understand your concern in here. I seldom or have never really tried to report one unless the poster is obviously doing it blatantly. But I do hope that Mylot can be more observant of these things around since it really makes the site rather unruly. But soi far no one has tried to put me down in here or maybe there has been but they failed pulling me down.

see I am not on this site enough to know who is who and who is doing what i come on about one every two weeks just to vent really i mean i have been a member for i believe close to 2 yrs and i have never reached payout not one time!!! I didnt join to make money I joined to have a place to vent and it seems very sad that people are like that..but as always its easier to blame others then to grow up huh?

Hi there,
I have no idea what you are talking about or who you are talking about on either side of this equation. Out of all the people here on mylot were there really that many that noticed and gave this person a hard time? I miss alot of the things going on here I guess. I never noticed any newbie being attacked without valid reason. I wish everyone could just get along on here.

I can see that 4 that I have reported for plagiarism have gone or been cleaned up now. I spent a lot os Saturday evening on one of them
I have also reported a tag on a discussion as not pertaining to the user too but I'm not aware of what happened there yet. The user was so obviously not what was stated in the tag on the discussion. I reported another one for posting jokes and I also advised through PM some of the newer ones not to do what they were doing as they would not be here long if they continued.
I am helping as much as I can several of the new users but I have not reported as a troll anyone who was not blatantly such. I'm not aware of the user you are talking about
There is need of a clean up in MEM but I am not there as much recently.

I've missed a lot of the goings on here, but I think the important thing that people have to remember is that openly attacking another person isn't going to get you anywhere. Questions can rise and there is a lot of doubt in people about new members coming in. Are they this person or that one, but I don't agree with just going in for the kill if you don't have a clue who this person is.
There was another discussion about reporting. To be honest, if someone thinks it's this person or that one, why not just report it and let the higher ups do the rest. To openly attack another person, well word gets around. I remember when mylot had over 174,000 members and now look at it.
I understand people's frustrations for people that are here that hurt mylot, but the members here also have to understand that if you're always on the pounce, then no new members are ever going to stay here. Is that what this site is about? I don't think so.

Boy, I must have really missed something. I am not sure who the newbie is, but would be glad to accept them as a friend. We cannot be jumping to conclusions about a person if they do nothing wrong.

we have to be able to give them a chance here
yeah there have been some troll problems here but trolls have always been here and are not going away
but just because there have been a few that tried to ruin the fun it doesnt give us the right to assume things about people who havent even had a chance

I'm not quite sure who the plagiarizer here is but is it the person mentioned in the other place? I checked on that profile and all his discussions have been zapped. Have no idea about the newbie you're talking about though that got zapped. I really haven't been too active here as I just haven't been plain feeling too keen.
Anyway, I think unfortunately there's been such a paranoia here lately so it's like everyone is watching like a hawk any newcomer that comes along. I'm not in the habit of reporting anyone and give people the benefit of the doubt that any newbie coming here isn't a troll...the only time I actually report someone is when I see a copycat with my avatar and my user name (only spelled a bit differently) since I think that's a little too obvious that person IS a troll or if I happen to see a newbie with someone else's avatar...the copycat impersonated one of my friends and emailed her to ask her if by chance she opened up a new account...she hadn't

wow, it is sad when people do that. yeah there are some harsh people up here. i hope mylot will stick around for awhile. this is the only site i am a member of like this, i tried to join another site like this but i just didn't like it. i know i try to welcome everyone even the newbies, it's just a shame they get pushed away like that. thanks for starting this discussion, some people need to hear/read this.

Here I am backing you up, although I was originally just visiting here to stalk you in this discussion. 
Count me in among the sickened! I saw those people attacking that poor noob on his VERY FIRST innocent post, and I also thought it rather rude and paranoid of those people to attack him like that. As you know, I also report the C&P cheaters as I find them, and I am not the most trusting person, but I choose to wait until after somebody does somethign wrong to go after them. Running off new people becasue they might be a returnee does nothing but further denigrate this once thriving internet community. The people who did this are nothing but trolls themselves and they shold be ashamed.

I actually felt bad for the newbie
they hadnt done anything wrong and they got attacked and label
when in fact those that were attacking and labeling were the ones being trolls at that point

I haven't been a member very long, but I have noticed if you don't post a popular "politically correct" opinion, your rating takes a beating. You have to say all the "right" things to be accepted. I don't know which newbie your referring to, but I hope they hang in there, and don't let the bullies win
