After broadband, it's WI-FI now

We are getting techie as we have now a WI-FI at home. It was just a week ago when we had a broadband internet connection (after years of dial-up). I just bought a Linksys Router and configured our computer. My husband and I can connect to the internet at the same time. We have our laptops and we love it very much because we don't have to argue anymore who will connect the internet first. My sisters and my husband's brother were in our house to try surfing using their cellphones. I'm just happy to share this techie thing. Do you also have a WI-Fi at home?

Wi Fi is a new invention and it has not been yet adopted by many. I feel it is mainly used for connections with Laptop. I am not sure, if it gives you same speed, as you would get in a broad band connection. If the speed is good and you and your hubby both can log in simultaneously, then really it is in thing and would be adopted by many in the future. I work on broad band and I feel satisfied with it.

The wi-fi and the broadband have the same speed . The advantage of having a wi-fi is that many can use the broadband all at the same time. In other words, you can open five or more computers (desktop and laptop) simultaneously.

It is good to know that a wi fi connection has same speed, as you get in your broad band connection. But are the charges same for both? (I am not aware about this aspect, please tell). It is good that simultaenously you and others in your home can enjoy the internet.

You don't pay any extra amount for WI-FI. All you have to do is buy a router (Linksys is better and faster). It costs around $50.

We do have WI-FI at home. It's awesome, because all of us have laptops. With the WI-FI system, we can all be online at the same time and we don't ahve to take turns getting on. This is especially important when Lauren is at home for the weekend and we are both trying to work on homework. It would be virtually impossible without the wireless network.

I appreciate the wireless network now that I have both broadband and wi-fi. Before I would use wi-fi in cafes or malls and I just used my cellphone to connect the net. The bad thing about my cellphone is I cannot do mylotting.

That's definitely the advantage of having a wi-fi. I just can imagine you having a good time in the pool while surfing the internet. It would definitely be a great fun. Have a nice day.

I set our Home Network up at my parent's house and it's been great ever since. They also have a Wireless Linksys router and they use it so that our aunt can wirelessly connect to them when she needs it. Also, when my brother's classmates came over to finish their thesis, they were able to connect through a wireless connection to our router.

That's the advantage of having a wi-fi. many can use the internet connection all at the same time. You don't need to fall in line before you can connect to the internet.

The additional P250 is good enough considering that the cost of a broadband connection is P999. . . .Much more okey compared to dial up connection which costs P100 per card and takes forever.

I have a labtop w/ a wireless card inside of it and am in desperate need of online service. Does anyone know of a good service in the US? Most of the cellphone companies want me to sign a contract and want a high depo. So you say that if you have a home computer that you can just get a router and then you will have WIFI & can use it anywhere or just anywhere in your house? Please clarify and Thanks in advance for any replies. Happy mylotting

I am not from the United States and I don't much of how your telecommunication networks work. Anyway, to give you an idea of how the wi-fi works, first you must subscribe a DSL or broadban internet connection from a telephone company. Once you have that connection, just buy a ROUTER from a computer company. You need to configure your computer and internet connection. It is very easy to do because there is an instruction which you simply have to follow.

I guess your friends are wrong. If you have a wifi at home, you cannot be disconnected because you will be using your broadband connection. Maybe what they are saying is the wi-fi that they use in the malls because the owners sometimes switch off the connection. You have the control of the connection.

Talking about technology nowadays it seems that it becomes more and more convenient everyday on how things are going when connecting to the net. Since the dawn Broadband era the way internet is being used now is so convenient that you don't practically connect to a cable anymore but get it via wireless signal. In our office that is widely use both wifi and cable. Although I still favor cable for my desktop I could say that the wifi has become a very convenient tool for the the laptops nowaday.

The wifi is perfect for laptop computers and wifi-ready cellphones. The high technology gadgets are making our life more convenient, making the world smaller and making us globalized.

That is certainly great for you. I have bought a linksys wireless router about a year ago so its been a year already that I have been on wifi. The good thing is I can connect anywhere from home. It is really convenient. I can also share the connection with ease. But I have place a security or password for my connection considering that some other people will be able to access your wifi if no security or password and this could probably give you problems later on.
