Well,we all cook for our family alone with great ease. But,are you capable of cooking for a group of around 50 without any assistance? You will be informed a day before the event. And the gang will be your partner's unexpected guests. Can you manage or simply you order for the same,to a nearby restaurant? Are you ready for the challenge?

I would never be able to cook for 50 people. I rarely cook for myself and when I've cooked for 4 people before I've found it to be quite challenging. If I had 50 people who needed to eat, they better expect to be eating some pizza or other fast food!

So you will order for fast foods? Why should not be kind enough to offer them a good full meals from a nearby restaurant?Aren't you in the mood to welcome huge crowd of guests?Or are you worried of cleaning the house after a huge party?

Well just last week I was cooking for a group of 50 at church. I made a huge batch of sloppy joes. I did get help with others brining in jellos and brownies. Then I just put out some chips too. It was easy.

What are those sloppy joes? Are they count as full meals or some variety of snacks?Anyhow, did you enjoy the session? It is always nice to see people enjoying our own preparation and feeding a crowd is not a simple task.Cheers!

Perhaps the task is too great for someone like me to practice on, plus if it's going to be my partner's guests, then I'd be too tired to welcome them after all the cooking. I think I'd rather pass this one up and order instead, at least they have the capability to prepare for 50. My utensils alone can't feed 50. But we did have an experience cooking for a big batch, it took a lot of us, we were like 5 cooking and several other just helping out with the peeling and the chopping and stuff.

I can understand how you will feel tired to welcome the guests after the hard cooking.Ordering to a good restaurant will be a good alternative.By the way,if you can have some people to assist, will you take the job?

Still, I don't think I'd be able to take the job because I'm not confident about my cooking prowess.

Okay!I thought you could do it with support as you had stated about your previous experience. So,that first experience has taught you to stay away from such experiments?LOL!

I agree that I can't do it. I can cook for a few peope. I will be very tensed to take up the job of cooking for 50 people and finally end up in a bad situation. I can cook for a maximum of 10 peopel...I think. As if now, the maximum number of people i have cooked for is 6 and it went out very well.

That is a good mental attitude.to serve the guests with your own preparation.that is the way to treat them with love and care.Outside foods will not suit everybody. It is glad you had managed more than 20 and you can face 50 with some assistance.Cheers!

Since I took food service in college I could probably cook for 50 people. I have several easy to make meal ideas that I could easily expand and have some comercial size pans for roasting or baking. Funds for the supplies would be my biggest problem. The meal might be something simple like spaghetti. I actually have enough supplies on hand and would only need a few fresh items to pull off a meal for 50. I come from a large family with 5 kids and any number of friends or dinner guests so our kitchen was home to as many as 10 on a regular basis and about 20 for holidays. I actually had to learn to make smaller portions when cooking for just myself, hubby & two kids.

I cooked for as many as 8 people in the house. It was when I was in New Delhi and we had planned to stay at our home for study. We were 8 people altogether and I was the one who was supposed to cook chapatis for them. It was a tough job because I only used to cook for 3 people every day!

Oh!You can make chapatis for 8 people! What did you have for sabji? That is side dish-aloo mutter or simply dhal? How did your friends enjoy your preparation?Did they help you at the least in washing the dishes?

I honestly say I can't do that or I would like to say I won't take the risk of doing that. It is not easy to cook a big quantity of food. If you cook so, you will be tensed about the result and it is easy to commit mistakes. So, I thik it is better to arrange a caterer. Thank you for responding to my discussion.

So,you are worried about getting tensions and expected mistakes of that.It is a good idea to hire a catering team to handle the situation,so that we can attend the guests in a relaxed mood.Cheers!

thats definitely beyond my power. I'm a lousy cook and I tend to make a lot of mistakes especially in multi-tasking. I'd rather hire a cook and assist than do a one-man show.

Right! We should not mess up things where we are unfamiliar with.Hiring a cook and giving him instructions and supervising is one way to handle a crowd of 50.Cheers!

It shall not be a tough task for a chef.He is educated for that and he can plan and execute simple items with a special touch to make it significant. But it is really a challenge for house wives, who used to cook for a small group.Cheers!

Well I think I could manage such a challenge. Since I was unexpectedly placed in a similar situation. I was told I would handle the rice only for over 50 persons but was stuck with the chicken, and goat meat to prepare last minute. I was overwhelmed but rose to the challenge. I vow never again.

Did that day turn up bad for you?Didn't your guests like your preparation? Why are you not ready to take the challenge again?Did you had any hardships?

That is great!I appreciate your mental attitude towards feeding people. It is more love concerned than with cooking. So,I believe you love cooking for your people and you can manage any crowd. But can you handle the situation in single hand or do you need support?Cheers!

I am used to cook for a crowd but of course I need an assistant to do the slicing and chopping. For 50 heads, you only need 5 kilos of meat and about 5 chickens. There should be around 5 - 6 types of dishes.
