Summer is mangoes, watermelons and pineapples season. I love eating these fresh or juiced up. I like the watermelon shake of North Park. And oh, in the Philippines, the summer food is "halo-halo"! A mix of sweetened fruits, beans, preserves with milk, shaved ice and ice-cream! Nothing beats this summer cooler! Have you had your taste of this mouth-watering concoction?

I love fresh cold fruits in the summer. Watermelons, cantalopes, mangos and tomatoes. I also love blender drinks, nice and icey. Fresh seafood cooked on the grill, and of course hamburgers and hotdogs! Where I live it is basically summer all year round and I love to eat whatever is fresh and in season at the timen. I think that eating that way you are following your own body rhythms.

I usually do alot more fruit in the summer. Less potatos, more fruit. I'd like it all year round, but it's hard when fruit aren't in season.

Fresh fruit is my favorite thing about summer. Summer is when they are all in season and taste great- plus they are cheaper. Also, I do a lot of grilling in the summer. I love marinating chicken and grilling it. Steak is also good on the grill. They are healthier this way than cooking them in oil or in a pan where they sit in the grease.

I love smoothies and ice creams.. something which can quench my thirst. It's almost summer and right now I'm craving for more fruits on my diet, especially watermelons. I also love to splurge on shakes and iced teas.

Summer time is not complete without a "halo-halo". This is sold at almost every block here in the Philippines. I do not know if you are familiar with halo-halo term but the word "halo" in Tagalog means "mix". And halo-halo is a dessert mix or a combination of different ingredients. There is no specific recipe for halo-halo because a wide variety of ingredients are used. But primary ingredients may include: boiled red mung beans, kidney beans, garbanzos, sugar palm fruit (kaong), coconut sport (macapuno),and plantains caramelized in sugar (saging na saba), tapioca (sago), sweetened sweet potato (kamote), nata de coco, pounded crushed young rice (pinipig), then it is put with shaved ice nd topped with evaporated milk, jackfruit (langka), purple yam (ube), and leche flan. Other preparations include additional ice cream on top of the halo-halo. I hope you can try these too...

I like ice-cream, fruits, and fruit juice. But I can't have them all day long. For a breakfast in summer, I would replace white coffee by yogurt. I also like to have seafood, because it get cold faster than meat.
