I thought excersize was supposed to give you energy?

I pushed myself to the limit today. There's a park nearby with a 2 mile long walking trail. I parked at one end, walked very briskly all the way to the other end, let my 2 little boys play at the park at the far end for awhile, then walked back. I wasn't entirely sure I'd make it back. I was exhausted, my body hurt, my lungs hurt, I was walking into the wind which made it that much harder! But both my little guys were getting miserable and were starting to cry, so I just kept pushing myself harder to walk faster. I was honestly walking as fast as I could and almost in tears myself because I was getting frustrated at the situation. I finally made it, and after it was over with I was quite proud of myself, and feel quite good about the work out I got. It's not often I push my body that hard. Problem is ever since it was over, I've been exhausted!! I thought excersize was supposed to give you energy, so why do I feel so tired? When was the last time you pushed your body to it's limits? When was the last time you worked out so hard that it hurt? Do you find that you're more energetic after working out, or are you just tired?

i just started getting back into exercising myself and i never feel energized aftewards. i usually feel like i want to lay down and take a nap but i think that is because i am so out of shape. i think the more i do and they longer i workout the better off i will be and the better i will feel each day. so with that said i have to stick to it no matter what because my food intake is the thing i really have difficulty with and if i do not exercise i will just gain even more weight.

Hi kats! I feel the same way you do when I exercise! I know that it's supposed to give us energy, but I get the same way! The more I walk, the more tired I end up getting! I have pushed myself like you did to the point that I thought I was going to cry or drop and not make it back! And then for days after my muscles hurt and I just couldn't get back to myself! I just don't think that exercise works for me!

I've been sore all week, but I keep pushing myself further and further. You have to work through the pain sometimes.

I wonder that too. I know I am always really tired after I get some exercise. Maybe it is because it is not that often.

If you havnt worked out in a really long time. your not ganna see results right away you have to work yourself to that point. exercise does give u energy when you exercise right...Mabey walking that 2 mjiles strip 2 times was to much for your body at first. you should have done like 1/2 mile for a few days then working yourself up to 1 mile and kee doing that till u get to 4 miles. The last time I really strained myself and put my body to work full force was when I was about 13 years old and I was in gymanstics camp.. they did not play there LMAO...Me and 2 of my friends came home and tried to split a 1 can of ravioli's and we could not even eat that. that is how hard they worked out stomachs.. I loved it though so i not complainging though;)

i thought so too because that's what they say.. but ive tried jogging for a couple of days before, jogging with a friend who is only in need of that freaking exercise. i agreed to jog with her because shes a foreigner and nobody to jog with. i hate it. i feel like it's going to be the end of my life middle half of the round. i feel so tired after i wake up because we usually jog at 4 in the morning and i usually go back to sleep after an hour or doing it. hehehe.. we had stairs at home before, i can barely step down because my legs is killing me.. i'm not a big fan of exercising. even if im fat, i dont think i'll consider it to get thinner. hehehe..

I just pushed myself tonight. I've been trying to work out with the home gym that I have on a regular basis. However, tonight I just wasn't up to it. I was already tired, yet I hadn't gotten anything done. Which in turn made me feel guilty because if nothing else I should at the very least get a good work out in. Well, thanks to my husband he helped to get me to work out. And with him working out with me I pushed myself to work out even harder than usual. But after we were done, I was completely exhausted! Exercise is supposed to give us energy. Though we have to do it for a while before we notice any real change. So if that was the first long walk you had in some time it's no wonder you were tired! Take it slow and steadily work your way up. That way it won't be so hard on you. Good luck!

Firstly I must say "well done you for pushing yourself to exercise", getting off our butts to exercise is always the most difficult bit, and you did it. I try to walk regularly but I often find it boring so I don't do it as much as I ought to. The longest walk I ever did was to walk from France right over to the west of Spain in a five week long walk called 'The Pilgrimage to Santiago De compostella'.

Heavy exercise always makes me go to bed early. I don't feel any extra energy and I exercise every single day. I suppose exercise has different effects on different people.

Hi Kate! I do love walking myself, and he other day i pushed myself a bit as well while I had the chance at the park I took my daughter to. I do think that in the long run, exercise gives you extra energy, but it takes a while and you have to build up your endurance. Don't try to do too much at once. You may just discourage yourself. Set some exercise goals and I'm sure you will find it gets easier! Have a great day!

When you start exercising and seem to do that everyday you will see yourself everyday have more and more energy to do more things. The last time i felt that my legs were hurting was at a party my family through and they hired a DJ and my legs were hurting by the end of the night from dancing so much and my body is just not used to all that, but i know i needed it as i don't exercise much but talking my dog on a walk every night to get him tired to sleep at night. I have been trying to do big marches and then lay down and do kicks with my legs to get some exercise in. I think it is important at my age to do some exercises so in my later years I'm not so bummed out.

i work out all the time, and if you are really putting out u should feel tired for a lil bit but then u should feel fresh and full of energy and feel good. i dont walk though i see no point in it. and also speed walking can give u shinsplints faster, so its better to jog if you cant run, cuz then u can stretch your legs out futher..i also dont usually do warm ups or stretches before i run because your more prone to pulling something if u stretch it to much before you run or lift..so i usually do stretches after i run or after i lift...but everyone is different what works for me may or may not work for you

Exercise does give you more energy over time, as your body fat decreases, your muscle mass increases, and you improve your stamina and metabolism. However, pushing yourself too hard can overwork your body and actually be counterproductive. You want to start in moderation and work up to longer, harder workouts. The last time I pushed myself to the limit was when I did boot camp exercises on my own. I only lasted a week with them, but the last time I was that sore was in junior high basketball practice!

The last time I pushed my body to its limits was about a week ago. I climbed to the top of a mountain up to a castle in Saxony. I have asthma, so I had to keep stopping to catch my breath, but we made it up in half the time we were told it would take, so I felt pretty proud of myself. I think if you want the energetic feeling you're talking about, you shouldn't push yourself that hard every time, and you should exercise regularly, not just once in a while. Once your body gets used to the extra activity, you'll probably feel a lot more energetic. Just don't exercise so hard that you can barely move the next day! Yoga is a good alternative. I used to do yoga regularly, and felt relaxed but energized most of the time. In fact, I should start up with that again...

During the first two weeks of exercise, I am always tired and exhausted and I want to eat and eat..LOL! That was the time, I joined a tae-bo class but after those two weeks, everything was fine. I guess when our body will get used to it, we will not feel that tiredness anymore..It is always in the start..The best there is to walk each day and in the long run, I am sure you will be adding more miles since you will be more energetic!

I'm usually tired after exercising. It really depends on what I'm doing but, mostly I'm tired and hurt. It always makes me laugh when I hear people say they feel good after exercising. I wonder what we are doing wrong?!

Exercise doesn't give energy at all it takes away all energy, lol, the last time I pushed my self to my limit was 2 weeks ago, when me and my boyfriend went to his aunt's house and we took the bus on the way back we decided to use bicycles. When I got home I was dieing!! It was like 1000 miles!!! lol

I have the same experience with you.I always feel tried after i have done a hard,long-time exercise, especially walking long time.I`ve asked my grandmother, she is a doctor, and i know why am i like that. The reason you feel so tried is your body is one type of easy to lose your energy(sorry i don`t know how to explain that clearly cos it`s chinese traditional medicines).and i`m one of those people. You`d better change other type of exercise, such as Yuga or Pilates. I hope you can have a healthy body:)

Well I work out almost daily. Its a bit hard initially but you'll see that your limits will exceed each day.You walked 4 miles today.Try it daily and you'll see after a fortnight, you will be able to walk 10 miles getting as much as same tired as today.
