I live here in Westchester County and am looking for a cat. I have mice problems where I live and when I had Louie, he kept them away but unfortunately Louie caused a lot of damage and therefore had to go. But I do need a cat so if you are in my area and no someone who has a cat can you let me know please? Take care and God Bless!

I live not far from you, but like the others, I'd also like to know what happened to Louie, before I helped you to get another cat. If you only want the cat to catch mice, the cat is better off not having you for it's person. Cats are companions, to be loved and cared for, if they are good mouser's it's like a bonus, but not to be expected. SO what did you do with your last cat? How can anyone be sure a new cat would not face the same fate? Getting a companion animal is a lifetime COMMITTMENT, you are to be it's caretaker for it's LIFETIME not just for as long as it is convenient for you. PLEASE don't get a cat if you can't commit to caring for it over it's entire lifetime, if you have a mouse problem, get some traps or call an exterminator. Cats aren't employees, they are companions.

Bravo AngryKitty...I thoroughly agree. Getting a pet IS a lifetime commitment and pets shouldn't be gotten rid of due to an "inconvenience" of any kind

Sorry Linda, We are all in agreement because we value our pets in a different way and would never get rid of them because they messed up the house. My cats mean more to me than anything or anyone! I love them unconditionally!

Where did Louie go? Did you find him a nice home? How can a person who intends to give you a cat be guaranteed that the new cat won't have to "go" as well?

Hi Linda4ualways I hope you don't mind my being blunt and honest here, but I've read your previous discussions about getting rid of not only your cat Louie, but your dog Oreo as well....and from what I understand, Oreo was the third dog you had, then later got rid of. You got rid of your cat Louie, due to him messing up your home...was he fixed? If not, that could have been the reason he was making messes around your home, especially the peeing on your sofa business...male cats will spray, to "mark" their territory when they aren't fixed, as far as the other messes....all you had to do was keep your closets closed, keep shoes up of the floor or at least inaccessible to him to create the damage he did, and no doubt within time he would have learned to properly use a litter pan. To be blunt, it seems to me you get rid of pets when they are an inconvenience to you and dispose them when you no longer want them. You have to remember when you bring any kind of pet, you are bringing in a "life" ---a living breathing life with feelings, and yes, all animals have feelings. All of us who are pet owners at one time or another may have also had "inconveniences" due to a pet, but within time the bad behavior of a pet may have diminished with time but I'm betting we who are devote pet owners don't get rid of them at a drop of a hat as you seem to have done in the past. How do any of us know then, if you get another cat, that you won't dump it if it too creates an "inconvenience" to you?

PS I'm betting many times your children have made messes and were an inconvenience to you, would you get rid of them the same way as your pets?

Adopting a dog or cat is really no different in terms of commitment than adopting a child. You don't send the kid back when it wets the bed or has diarrhea do you? I have many pets and I often have to clean up piss, shyt, vomit, chewed up stuff, had them get into the trash or steal my dinner and you know what? That's PART OF THE JOB when you agree to take in an animal companion! Sometimes they get sick, sometimes they misbehave, you clean up, try to teach them and love them anyway. Just like children, you don't just toss them out when they become annoying or smelly!

I did have a cat like that! I took it to the dang vet and found out ways to fix the problem it wasnt easy but I did it and me and the cat lived happily together for years until he passed away I didnt just throw him out because he had a problem I helped him deal with his problem so that he could have a good happy life that is what you do when you commit to having a pet

Get it from a shelter, they give those away pretty much, they just charge you a little bit of money for feeding them and the shots. There's a lot of them there. Good luck!

She HAD a cat, she threw him away because she didn't want to take care of him. She's also thrown three dogs away! She should not have any pets - EVER because she just throws them away which is worse than never having taken them in the first place.

what a jerk you are. cats are living beings, not "things" to be given away when they become inconvenient. this goes for all animals. i see from another post that you did the same thing with at least 3 dogs. shame on you. i think that you signing your post "god bless" just adds insult. god made the animals too, and he directed us to be their care-takers. being a care taker does not include throwing an animal out because it "messes up the house". you don't have enough compassion to own a stuffed cat. shel

I completely agree with everything you said here, flying love, and I also find it insulting that the OP ends these posts about her cruel treatment of animals with "God Bless".

what the h_ _ _ _. i have 4 (yes FOUR) cats, 2 very large dogs (my small dog is 90 pounds) and 2 angora rabbits. yes, my house is a permanent mess. the rabbits kick litter around, the dogs shed, and the cats scratch things i wish they would rather not scratch, as well as constantly knocking things over. and there is always the occasional potty accident. but so what? i took them on, they are my responsibility, and the only reason i would neglect my committment to them is if i really just could not care for them any more, say, if i became disabled or something. even then i would be very picky about where they ended up. i'm currently unemployed and caring for them all is a bit expensive, but i am making it work. people who throw animals away make me angry and ill........and god does't like it either. i know because i talk to him about it. evidently the original poster does not. shel

I do not want to sound rude but I agree with AngryKittyMSV. You are not a cat person and if you are not committed to taking care of the kitty, you should not have one. Like AngryKittyMSV stated, "Cats are not employees...they are companions."

No, you don't need a cat. You need a mouse trap. A cat, as has been said over and over is a commitment, a responsibility, something that you are not ready to undertake. Don't put another cat through your revolving door. Please.

Linda, You can't just ask for a cat! If that's what you want then go to the shelter. You want to be more specific. You want one that won't piss on your furniture or you would have kept Louie who you loved. I'm your friend and I want to help, but be honest. Will you accept any cat? Call me if you want to talk and if the answer is yes, I'm sure I can help you find one!

I'm not in your area, but you should look at your local animal shelter and adopt one! It's rarely costs more than $100(USD), and cats are SO cute and lovable and would love for you to adopt them!
