Do you make seafood at home?

I love crab legs, they're my favorite seafood! Normally we go out to Red Lobster when I'm in the mood for crab legs. We don't trust them from any other restaurant due to a bad experience we had a few years ago with a restaurant that didn't clean them well enough. However, in order to save money, hubby has cooked my crab legs at home once or twice. Yesterday was my birthday, and we were rather short on cash due to our trip this weekend, so we made crab legs at home for my birthday dinner. The kids had fish sticks. When was the last time you cooked seafood at home? What kind was it? What's your favorite seafood?

Hubby used to make crab legs at home before I met him. However he says they really stink up the house when you are cooking them. I myself have never made them. The only seafood we really make around here is shrimp salads or stir fry, or immitation crab salad.

I don't remember them stinking up the place at all! I couldn't smell a thing. Actually the shrimp scampi hubby was making me on the side smelled more than the crab legs did, but in a good way.

Perhaps it was just the way he made it or the quality of the crab legs he bought? I have no idea, as he's never made them at home or while we've been togeather. Though he does like to also go to Red Lobster during Lobster Fest or whatever if we can afford it. SOmetimes we go to the local Chinese buffet but they've started skimping on stuff after they raised their prices and remodeled the restaurant so we haven't gone in a long while.

I love shrimp. That is the only seafood we have cooked at home ourselves though. A friend brought over crabs one time and they were pretty good but we didn't cook them, he got them from a local bar. I've been wanting to try lobster but I haven't yet. I'm afraid to go to red lobster and get lobster and not like it. I've never even been to a red lobster lol. I keep hinting for my husband to buy lobster and make it for me for a special dinner but so far nothing. I'm sure I'll get to it one day.

10 years ago or so I had a boyfriend take me to Red Lobster and I ordered a platter that came with lobster tail. I didn't like it and brought the rest of the lobster tail home for my cat. Thankfully the platter also came with pasta and some other stuff so I didn't go hungry. So basically I chalked it up to me not liking lobster and I hadn't tried it since. Well the last time we went to Red Lobster I decided to try this platter again, for whatever reason. I think the stuffed shrimp looked good or something. Anyways, the platter came with the lobster tail, and I tried it, and this time I loved it! I can't wait to go back and try it again.

Besides occassionally doing Shrimp at home, most of the time when we have Seafood it is at a Restaurant. We save up occassionally just to go to Red Lobster so I can have Lobster, but most of the time just for Crab legs, we found a Good all you can eat place as well.

Yes, I like the home preparation of sea prawns very much! Sea prawns' curry is prepared at home very often! Besides this sea crabs make nice item, but we take it rarely. Seasonal sea fishes like 'Hilsa' are avilable here in the rainy season only. This also has a nice demand and nice home preparation! Thanks for this nice topic and have a good day!

I am not really big on seafood, but my one all time favourite has to be prawns, I love them. I love a prawn cocktail, prawn sandwich, anything prawn! I especially love them when we go to the seaside and they are as fresh as anything!

I love to make raw fish dipped in a vinegar with some sliced onions, tomatoes and ginger, with crushed pepper. This is is what we call "kinilaw" in our place and is very popular among the locals.

Last time was at Black Sea coast in summer 2008: fresh shellfish when taking my daily "shower" in the Sea. The local "tribe" obviously doesn't know what treasure the Black Sea is providing for them: They cultivate themselves as fishermen only. I simply cooked the shellfish and ate them with some garlic, tomatoes and bread. If you would ask me for my best seafood ever: This definitely was Ciopino from the San Francisco Bay area. Some years ago I tried to cook it myself over here in Germany. But it didn't come up to what I had enjoyed in the 1980ies in California.

Hi katsmeow, my family and I love seafood very much. For the purpose of convenient we usually visit the seafood restaurant in a nearby fishing village. Yeah, especially to entertain relatives and friends who are fond of eating seafood. It’s not an easy task to prepare seafood dishes for many people. The best time to visit the restaurant is before 7 or so in the evening, for all the delicious dishes are prepared from the seafood from the freshly returned fishing boats. As we know fish and prawn are nutritious food and is good for our healthy. So I usually would like to have our own simple homemade seafood twice in a week. We had steamed fish with some yummy ingredients added to it. Another dish was spicy stir fried shrimps. We took these and some vegetable dishes, and rice as well for our dinner last night. Happy posting

It's been a while since I myself have made some seafood at home, it's usually my dad making some salmon or some shrimp scampi. When I've cooked seafood I've grilled salmon, I like using the grill and salmon is really good for you.

I don't normally eat any seafood. I will occasionally eat some shrimp when I go out somewhere, but I don't take the time to make it myself. I have some salad shrimp in the freezer just in case I do get a hankering for it. Shrimp is really the only seafood I eat.

When I lived on the coast we would go crabbing and then cook and clean them to eat, because of this I do not like fake crab, but I will say that it is hard to get to. Normally I will cook shrimp but we love fried oysters, and I have cooked soft shelled crab also. I love sea food and cannot wait until I can move back closer to fresh seafood. I have to say that shrimp and oysters are my favorite though.

I love seafood. My country has a wide coastline and there is some unexpensive seafood to make as an everyday meal.Mussels are so cheap that you can get a couple of kilos, steam cook them and eat them with mayo or just plain lemon juice. Then there are also good and fresh expensive items that I have once in months. Crablegs are my favorites, much more than lobster. But they are very expensive. I love another seafood the used to be fairly reasonable but not it´s in extintion and so it´s expensive when we can get it: the abalone. The last time I made a nice seafood dinner was for company. I made a risotto with octopus, mussels and clam. It tasted superb!!!
