What are your pre-writing routines?

Personally I always take a bath first and drink a cup of coffee to start myself with writing. I also clean up my desk and all the clutters around me as it distracts me in my concentration. Others opt to listen to a song before starting their writing and some great writers even take illegal drugs and other strange things before writing. How about you? What are your pre-writing routines?

Um...routine. There's a word I don't use that often, even when I'm not writing. I was never big on things like...schedules, routines, or "daily habits" that correspond between those things. I do tend to do a bit of online work and blogging before I write, I usually have time before I head to bed...usually sometime around midnight. At least; that's what it's been like this month. The only other reoccuring trends tend to be when I'm talking to a friend on IM, or listening to a show on the computer. Trying to relax, as I'm so often told I should do.

mine is kinda funny. first, i visit some of my favorite online stores like ebay, amazon, etc. i don't know but i get my inspiration there. i usually spend around 10-20 minutes browsing then i'll start doing some research about the topic assigned to me.

I don't have much of a pre-writing routine. Sometimes I have to wait for an idea to "percolate," then I have to sit down and write it right away before I lose it. Other times, I know pretty much what I want to write, so it's a matter of sitting down and working it out. What helps me concentrate is something to sip on and a little something to nibble on, like sunflower seeds. I do it's just a habit, but it works, so I'll keep it. :)

I don't realy write much, only on MyLot and then when I study I write summaries. I usualy start with a clean desk but after a study session, the place is a mess. I also enjoy the coffee while study or MyLot, it helps loosen the braincells... Do you write books or articles, or something else?

My pre-writing routines are taking a bath, then reading any contemporary novels before writing. This will explore me more ideas and play around with many words. Sometimes, if I get too bored in writing, I have to drink a lot of hot chocolate or cafe latte before writing.

My pre-writing routine is this: I spend all morning convincing myself that I'm going to write. I pep myself for it, figure out just how much I want to get done, where I want to go, mull over the plot a little. While I'm doing all this, I'm doing my morning exercises. When I get done with that I figure heck, I'm too tired from exercising to write, so I'm going to get in the car and run the errands I have to run and that'll give me a chance to think a little more and rest. And then I get back from the errands and take a look at my apartment and realize that a tornado must've hit while I wasn't looking, so I set out to fix it up. By the time that's done, the pets need attention and a little play time. Then I either cook dinner or go to work until 11 at night. ^_^ And as I lay down to go to bed after getting home from work I think, gee, I wish I had some time to write today! LOL. Other than that, I really don't have much of a routine. I write whenever I get a chance...hehe.

Before I write, I need to have spent at least a day thinking about what I'm going to write. I can't write out of the blue when I get an idea. I don't really know why but it's a thing I have, I guess. When I really want to write, I spend one whole day thinking about what I'm going to write. There's nothing else I think about and I get very irritable when I'm disturbed. :P
