I'm a Filipino but if I were to choose ..well.. for me.. I would say I want to be French.. why?? coz I love the French culture, their language and history! I just love it there. I really really want to learn how to speak French (and also Spanish) and know more about it because after reading books about France it really amazes me.. but it doesn't mean that I don't like my nationality...

That is a good thoughtful provoking question, I always thought I should have been born in a colder country, because I do not like the heat, so I would have survived better in a colder climate, I think therefore a country from Scandinavia, like Sweden, they are very friendly and I would like to think I was bilingual in that I could speak Swedish as well as English. So I'd choose being Swedish, I have always wanted to go to Sweden, maybe it's my unconscious mind telling me I should go there because that is where I should have been born.

I hold dual nationality and I am proud of both. I was born in England and came to live in Australia when I was 11 years old. I am an Australian citizen and LOVE Australia but I am also very proud of my English heritage. I have been back to England a number of times and two of my five sons have lived there for a number of years. I think Great Britain has a tremendous history and has contributed much to the world, especially in the realm of literature and medicine. The people are wonderful and have a great attitude. Although I love Britain, if I had to choose I would choose Australia which is often called "the lucky country." Australia has everything (except I suppose, a long history, being a much younger country). Our way of life is great, offering anything from one extreme to the other, depending on which part of this VAST country is chosen. We have some of the best scenery and the best beaches in the world and an amazing attitude of togetherness. Our climate is great and where I live is considered one of the most equable areas in the world. We have very unique animal and floral life. Australia has produced some of the greatest inventions in modern times. The only thing I can think of which could be considered a drawback is the tremendous distances involved in domestic travel. I have to travel for days to visit some of my grandchildren.

I am English but if I could choose I would be Australian. I adore Australia and think it is such a wonderful country to live in. I love its beaches and am amazed by its unique wildlife. If I came from there I hope I would still be a keen traveler. Living in England has its advantages that it has cheap airfares and it near many other European countries. I know what you mean about the appeal of France. The French language is one of my favorites.

I'm Filipino and I like being Filipino. I love our culture - it's vibrant and although some may argue that it isn't unique at all since we're a mixing pot of previous colonizations, I think that specific history DID make us unique. There are a lot of things to hate in the Philippines: undisciplined people who spit on the roads and throw their trash improperly and corrupt government, etc. But those don't make Filipinos as Filipinos (proof is honest, disciplined little me, proud to be Filipino). Different cultures have their own strengths and weaknesses. Our main weakness is corruption - and it can be traced back to the Spanish colonization when the Church-Government was horribly corrupt. However, our strengths lies in having to live in such an environment - we are keen on survival and in adapting in different cultures. So much that when Filipinos migrate to other countries, they become perfect citizens. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

if you were to choose your nationality what would it be? I wouldn't want to choose a nationality other than my own. While I can appreciate people from other countries, cultures etc. and I really do like some of the foods but I still have to say that there is no place like home. I'm just fine with the the nationality that God has given to me. I only wish that people were more accepting of everyone regardless of race, color or creed.

I'd like to be English for the same reasons you'd like to be French. It'd be be very nice to move to England some day, hopefully I can fulfil my dream someday...

A nationality...Well, an interesting question.I've visited France once and I like the way they protect their rights.Being free that's what makes you French.I think my inner nationality is French too.Yes,really wonderful and rich culture.I don't mind being British too.But the best thing would be to be American because it means to be any skin color, any nationality and any culture.

That's a tough decision. I would be torn between Japanese and Chinese. I love Japan because of all of the wonderful Anime it produces. I love China because of their Kung Fu. I'm not sure which way I would go.
