Adventure or comfort

Young travelers of 18 years old to mid twenties like to stay in backpacker hostels. Therefore they can make their budget last months. Some of them have working holidays in countries like Australia. Travelers with children demand more comfort like in a room in a guest house. They will probably travel for two or so weeks. Older travelers tend to like comfort so might stay in a hotel. Some retired people from my home country spend each winter overseas escaping the cold weather. Do you like adventure or comfort? Which type of accommodation do you prefer? Why?

When my ex-boyfriend and I were travelling together he always insisted on staying at expensive and luxurious hotels, but I don't need much comfort myself. I usually stay at a hostel or a cheap hotel, that way my budget lasts longer. My husband and I are going to Lithuania and Latvia soon, and we are going to stay at two different hostels there. The rooms are very simple and there is no private bathroom etc, but I don't mind. Adventure is a lot more important to me than comfort and I don't want to spend a lot of money on hotels.

When I travel I prefer to stay in a conforable hotel or motel. I ussly perfer a hotel that is not too expensive but not to cheap either. It will depend on what kind of traveling I am doing and how long I will be staying. I do not care for the adventure type of accomdation give me my creature conforts at anytime.

Hi max, I'm one that is about to go against the trend. Next week my wife and I are flying to Australia, with the goal of driving around the great nation. Using house sitting bookings, camping, and possible the odd hotel or motel we hope to complete the trip in about eighteen months. I'm just as excited about this trip as I was when I was twenty-five and heading off to Europe for my first real adventure.

I would say both. It is so nice to have an adventurous trip but i would also like to have the comfort of resting and relaxing after a long hike.

I dont need so much comportable acomodation, but at least food, drinking water must be available and safe. But adventure does not sound me asking for comport...it is to go without comport but refreshing the thirst of mind in a way or the other.

We did trains and youth hostels on my honeymoon and that was fine then. Now that I am double that age and have back problems, comfort, definitely. But it was fun when I could still do it!

I like a mixture. Will be going to Glastonbury and Buddhafield festivals this summer, which will both be camping. But have stayed in many youth hostels and backpacker hostels in the past and still do, now and again. But a B&B (Bed and breakfast) or guest house are very pleasant to stay in too... with the personal touch from the owners. Went to Brighton (on south coast of England, due south of London) to go to a vegan fayre. Our group from the Exeter area who went booked through a website called "late bookers discount" (something like that) and we go a really good deal staying in a 3 star beach front hotel. We could just pay for the room and have our breakfast elsewhere (vegan of course!). Still had some adventure though; sharing cars to get there was quite a cross-country route from the South-West of England, even finding a good lunch was a challenge, as the catering at the fayre was somewhat cr*p! Fortunately, Brighton has lots of veggie catering outlets giving good choice with value for money!
