I was driving on the country road this morning and i threw my apple out the window,i didn't think it was a big deal since i assume some animal would eat it and a apple is definitely biodegradeble,so why is this woman driving behind me freaking out?She literally follow me to were i was going and got out of her car to yell at me,to tell me how digusting i was.I informed her that it was simply a apple and that it was no big deal and she was still really upset. Anyway,i was just wondering if i was rong or right here,i don't belive i did anything wrong but i'm asking.

I think that it would be better not to throw anything out car windows. First off it may end up hitting a car or at the least distracting someone from driving. I say that cause yesterday someone threw out an ice cream cone and I was distracted as I watched it splat the road. Cool image but I should have had my eyes on the road. Secondly people still live and walk the roads in the country. My family and I go on daily walks down our country roads and it is gross that there is so much food thrown all over the sides of the roads where we walk. One apple fine, but like litter, if everyone thrown just one there still would be tons and tons of it all over the place. Third we want to keep the animals away from the roads and in the woods, getting food naturally. People can be driving pretty fast on our roads here and I see many creature remains on the side of the road from our cars. Not to mention car accidents with deer and moose where cars are totaled and people killed. (I live in Cape Breton NS) Even though I think this way I would never ever use extra gas, spew extra toxic fumes in the environment to go to a stranger who could harm me to tell them these things. I think anyone who points a finger is pointing three back at themselves. She is clearly not perfect and neither am I. Who am I to judge.

I think that vicki2876 brought up some really good points. I personally will throw food out the window for the animals when we are done eating and have left overs. Better to throw it out to feed the animals then to have it rot in a landfill and have the wild animals go hungry. I think it can still be considered litering though. Around here the fine for littering is $300 and I think ok thats great for people actually throwing out garbage but food is biodegradeable and people shouldnt get in trouble for throwing it out. I also think it depends on where the food was thrown out. If something is thrown in the middle of the road an animal will get hit trying to get to it to eat it and also someone could get in an accident trying to avoid the animal in the middle of the road or from hitting the animal. My mother always told us to through it as far towards the woods as we could so the animals wouldnt have to come out near the road to get the food. It wouldnt be very fun walking down the roads and having nasty food rotting all over but I would assume that animals will scoop up the food soon after its thrown out so it won't have to lay around and stink.

I really dont understand people like that, how did she know that when she got out to yell at you , you werent prepaired to shoot her thinking you had to defend yourself. There have been way to many cases of road rage in the past few years to just randomly follow anyone to go yell at them. As for the apple, being biodegradable I wouldnt consider it littering, and would have done the same thing, the only things that could happen is an animal may eat it, or it will rot and disolve into the ground, who knows, maybe an apple tree would even try to sprout where it landed, wouldn't that be cool?.

Well you are not supposed to throw anything outside for any reason but somehow I don't think you deserved to be scolded like that woman who saw and followed you. maybe I guess next time before throwing your things please make sure that you throw it at proper place like trash cans or something. I guess littering is not appropriate whether it is on country road or in the city streets or if it is some kind of biodegradable or not.

On a whole you do have a point about it being recycled into the earth from the animals this is true but I think the only place where one may run into a conflict if one so would care to take it this way which I will just out of point that if this time it is an apple what about the next person should they throw a sandwich would this be all right and then if so the next throws something else sometimes when there is a rule it should stay an absolute to eliminate any confusion so one time the one does not seem that bad the next seems even less Now I am not saying this is the case just on a debatable stance tonight but one could take that position but personally in this case no I dont think you did anything crucial and surely did not deserve the treatment you seemed to recieve Now I am a firm believer that some people no matter what happens will look for some reason to but their noses into someone elses business and this lady that felt the need to0 do so has most likely done far worse so as they say what is is those who lay down judgement should not throw the first stone cant remember it all but you get the just The bottom line look inside if this is the worst thing you had done that day you are doing better than most people including her

I feel bad for you. An apple is biodegradable do she shouldn't be yelling at you. I think she might have been yelling at you because she isn't a conservative. She doesn't care about what happens because it wont be in her lifetime. BTW just to mention when i looked here it says isabella123 (321) i just thought that was kinda cool and unexpected for the 123 to be reversed

If it's biodegradeable, then it's fine...as long as it doesn't hit anyone/their/car/lands in someone's yard...etc. Usually means country roads. ^_^ I never understood why people spaz out when biodegradeable stuff's tossed.

well i think that littering is littering and it is wrong. i understand your point about the apple but it will take some time to biodegrade though. to that end, i think the other lady was a little um off though.

While I won't support the other woman's behavior towards you for having done that, I do find it littering still if you were driving on a paved road. If it landed on a field, it wouldn't have been so great of a deal, since as you say it biodegrades. But on a paved road it's messier when vehicles run over it.

My husband does that too. I don't object to it for the same reasons as you mentioned, but I don't actually do it myself. Mostly because I don't want to deal with the type of reaction that you got from that woman.

Sounds strange. You are driving on the country road and throwing an Apple is not littering. I feel quite sorry for you. But in my country even if you throw a packet of Potato chips, you will not be labelled as a litter bug. According to me, if you throw any bio degradable items and that too on the country road, i never consider it to be littering as the wild animals and stray dog can be the beneficiary of those apple. Hence if any passers by shout at you for this silly reason, there is absolutely nothing to worry about that and the lady can be neglected. This all i can say about that incident. Hope you dont keep in mind about that. Happy weekend

it depends on where you throw it and like you said, apples are bio degradable but when you through it on a tarred road it becomes a liter but if you had thrown it in a bush or a fertile soil then it will be very ideal because you are supporting the green revolution, it can add up to the soil nutrient and may even grow and germinate

It was on the side of a country road were they have lots of farm and small animal a around,i wouldn't do that on the highway or in the city.

For me it is biodegradable but still the trash is there and might be there is a law that do not throw any thing in the road. Maybe that is her point but sometimes we forgot it because of the instances that cannot avoided. It has a proper way of putting things not to be eaten already. Its not easy to be yelled by somebody but its good that you explain your point.Let her release her anger afterwards it will end and be calm also . Everything will be handled.

Even though it is a small deal, sometimes it can lead to a big accident. There is a saying ''anything is possible''My opinion is that you'd better learn lessons from the small deal.
