Without upfront payment, how long does it take for you to make $100?

I started this discussion in the forum in AC. Michelle L Devon (Michy) says "I make over 100 on the performance bonus every month." Fabletoo says "It took me about 4 months to get up to $100 for just page views. Now I make almost $200 a month so, if you write a lot, you CAN make pretty good money on AC. Keep publishing and you'll be surprised how fast your performance payment increases :-) Good luck!" *cry* feel so sad, these folks are making so much money from page views per month, yet I have not reached the $10 mark for page views. What about you? How long does it take for you to make $100 from page views?

Scheng, I don't know how they do it. I make $2-3/month and that's good because I used to make less than $2. And I've been spending a lot of time over there, reading and commenting on other people's writing. I have 79 articles. I wonder how many these folks have? If I even made $10-25 a month on AC, I would be singing!

Ok, I see that Michy has 375 articles. I wonder if it is critical mass? Her topics seem to range all over the place...not just one topic. At least, that's what I saw at quick glance. You got me going with this, Scheng.

Hi Scheng. Of course, it's not the number of articles per se (it must also take into account popular topics, length, and so on), but if you only have a limited number of articles, I don't see how you could make $25-100 in page views every month. One thing I read yesterday online (and wondered if you had an opinion about it) is that if you post the same article in two different locations, the search engines end up dropping your article because of the double coverage. Have you heard that?

Thanks for the advice. That's one less thing I have to worry about!

I have not made $100 yet but I am still sort of a newbie. I usually get only performance payment and rarely go for the upfront payments. Making $100 a month from performance payments alone is incredible.

Hi jakeb, those people are really fantastic, they are making at least $100 from performance payments every month. From Feb to May, my total performance payment is still less than $8, an average of $2 per month. At least the performance payment is picking up momentum as I add more articles, hopefully a year later can achieve a monthly $100 from performance payment.

haha Kalav, you are not the only one. I think it will take more than a year to make the first $100, and probably another year to make the next $100. At this rate, mylot earnings is much more than the earnings from AC. Hopefully the earnings from AC will pick up once the search engine indexs all the articles. Keep writing!

At my current rate of earning, I would need about fifty times the articles I have there, just to earn a hundred a month from pageviews alone. Then again, I am a niche writer. And not to the commonly searched for stuff either. Someday, I will get there, but probably not anytime soon.

Hi Morgandrake, I add a whole lot of articles this month, maybe the page view bonus will reach $8. That's still far far away from the $100! Perhaps by adding an article a day, I will make it to $100 in page view one year later! Those who are able to make more than $100, are already Clout 10. Their payment rate is better than us.

I usually make anywhere from eighteen to twenty eight dollars a month in page views. So it would take me at least four ish months to make one hundred dollars in page views. I am sure that my page views will go up however since my clout level just increased. I was at clout level nine but it just raised this week to clout level 10!

Hi Oscar, if Associated Content had not changed the policy, I would have reached Clout 10 long time ago. I was in Clout 8 when the policy changed to stop payment to international writers. At that point, I was making slightly more than ten dollars per month, with April being the month with worst page views. While page views do not really go up as you increase in Clout level, the earning does increase. Clout 8 is not that much difference in payment scheme.

I like the sound of that! Do you know how much traffic you have to have to get the page view bonus from AC? I am still focusing my writing activity on helium for the time being but I hope to upload articles to AC very soon.

Hi Canellita, for us newbie, the page view payment is computed at $1.50 per 1,000 page views. It is not just the number of articles we submit to AC. The number of pages in the article, and the number of comments all add to page views. Those who can make $100 or more per month are old timers, Clout 10, and the page view payment is $2 per 1,000 page views. They have much more articles than us, and they need 50,000 page views per month to make $100. I'm still way behind. Haven't reach 10,000 mark yet! Still long way to Clout 10.

I will continue to focus my efforts on helium for a while and then switch to AC later when I have a bit more time to build up articles I can submit for upfront payments as well as articles from the AC assignments.

Well, I am not making a lot from page views yet, but I did make about $25 last week with upfront payments. I will eventually make some decent money from those page views,I'm sure. Good luck with your work there and I will look for articles that you have written.
