Buy one, get one free....

A free wife that is. I just came across this. Apparently house sales in China are so slow that developers are offering wealthy buyers a wife to go with the new house. and I thought that I'd seen it all. Read the story here. http://www.themovechannel.com/news/f202294a-f6f6/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily What do you think of this? Is it taking sales incentives a little bit to far??

Hahaha, I know a few happy bachelors that would definitely be turned off by the idea of a wife coming with their new house! A house is a pretty big commitment as it is, let alone a wife!

The wife is probably an optional extra...

I would rather it come with a maid/secretary...I already have a wife, but I can always use a little cleaning/business help LOL

It does say they would date first and if that's successful then they get the dowry and can marry so it's not so bad the women do have a choice and the marriage thing is just to get the men through the door. If anyone tried to do that in the UK they'd probably get sued by all the women who worked for them though, and it does sound a bit extreme even for China.

Yes, that goes too far, and in the wrong direction. Since there are more single women looking than there are single men, I would wonder at a man who feels he has to buy a house in order to find a wife. Now, because there are more single women than men, it would be a better sales angle to offer a free husband to a woman that buys the house, wouldn't it? Then again, if she is comfortable enough in resources, why would she want a husband?

Actually, I think that it's the other way round in China. Because of the govenments policy of one child per couple and the Chinese preferance for boys, there has been more boys than girls being born. I might be wrong about that because I've not reserched it at all, it's just something that I rememebr reading once.

I said it backwards in my response...I even confuse myself in rereading it. Assuming that there are more single men (which I meant), there are not enough women available for each man to have one to marry. Having a house come with a wife would be like bringing your own chair to a game of Musical Chairs.
