Pool or Beach?

When you go swimming, which do you prefer, a pool or a beach? Private or public? I prefer to swim in a private pool, but am not beyond finding a semi-private lake or pond to swim in. I am not one who likes to be in my bathing suit in front of a lot of people so even when I do end up at a public pool, I try to do so when it is the least crowded.

I prefer a beach or a lake, over a pool. While it is refreshing, I think there is so much more you can do in a lake/beach. At the Beach, you can make the castles in the sands, walk the shore, ride the waves. At a lake, you can go boating, water skiing, float on tires. Not much you can do in a pool except to dive off a diving board, and lay on a float.

You have a point, but I am not one for boating or skiing anyway so a pool suits me just fine!

I do like the beaches but as far as swimming goes, I like the private pool. I just don't like the salty feelings after swimming in the beach. If I do go into the beach & swim, I always take a shower as soon as I can afterwards.

I li to go to the beach to play frisbee, look for shells, buld sand castles, and lay in the sun with my feet in the water. I will swim there, but I don't even bother to go if it is crowded.

I prefer a private pool. I don't like public pools because they let kids in diapers swim in them now and there can be all sorts of icky bacteria and fecal matter there because of this. But I do like beaches and playing in the sand and looking for shells.

The only public pool I go to is at the YMCA and they have the kids wear the swim pants that aren't as bad as diapers. I have also noticed that there, the parents are very observant with the little ones and thankfully, there hasn't been an accident that I am aware of!

Beaches can be nice, but there are generally too many people there for my liking!

I prefer the beach; it can be public or private. Just so awesome.. The swimming pool is great too, but there can be so much chlorine that I don't feel comfortable. The sea water is salty though, LOL, but I love it anyway. I'm just a beach person and I think I'll always be. Nice discussion here..

I like to swim so it really doesn't matter to me, but if I had to choose I would pick a private pool also. I like it because it's not as crowded or crowded at all for that matter as a public beach or pool. I really don't like beaches that much. I only like them if there really clean.

I prefer to swim in the sea but from a quiet beach. I don't like that people have private pools in this area as it seems ridiculous as we have a water shortage and the sea is so nearby. A couple of weeks ago we were futher north and went to a large outdoor pool which had a couple of water slides. There was hardly anyone there which was nice and it was a lovely change to lounge by the pool at the opposite end to the slides and relax in peace and know that the kids were having great fun. Even though my son adores to swim in the sea I think he found the water slides much more of an attraction at the pool.

For sure i like to go swimming at a beach! The best beaches are the ones that the fewest amount of people on them. That way it's much more quiet and you can relax. I enjoy beaches because the water is much nicer. I don't like swimming in pools because they are very dirty (think of all the people who swim in them and leave there hair, band aids, and who knows what else in the water) and then the owners of the pool fill it with chlorine (which is poisonous in high doses) that irritates my skin and it smells bad.

i do prefer the beach over a pool. what i like about beaches is not just the water but also the scenery. of course, if i could pick a private beach over a public one, then why not? :) although you can do laps in a pool without worrying about what creatures are underneath you.hehe also, you can get a private pool which is cheaper than getting a private beach.

I will swim pretty much anywhere sanitary whenever possible. I usually would prefer something private to public because you get fewer kids in there and, therefore, it is easier to relax. Also, a beach is usually a bit more picturesque.
