I have noticed that lately when I am typing in the box here the apostrophe is replaced by a strange symbol Þ I was wondering whether anyone else has the problem.

Iwonder if it has to also do with my computer that is a Compac Presario Pentium 4 with the latest upgrade in Windows Xp.

I have a weird machine. I have it set with Firefox as the main browser, but when I turn it on, it goes to Internet Explorer. I sort of think they gave me two halves of Windows Xp and they are in conflict with each other. So maybe it is the bad Windows Xp that is doing it. Just a theory, mind you.

No I haven't had that that problem at all. I wonder why you are? Maybe it is something to do with the character encoding you use on your computer for text? Is there any other differences you notices?

I thought it was to do with the encoding, but I think it is with the browser and my crummy old Pentium 4 computer. It hasn't happened today, and i find it is when i have had the computer on for some time.

Wow. I have never seen anything like that before. I wander why that is happening? My computer used to type the same letter more than one time even though I only tapped on it once. I'm not sure why it kept doing that but it eventually stopped.

I am hoping this stops. It only happens when I was typing in the myLot text reply so I figured it was something about the character encoding. I have been trying to do all the character encodings when it happened to see if I got back to normal, but did not happen until I turned the computer off and stopped myLotting. Evil plot by a rival social forum network?

Not that I noticed. Let's put it to the test. No...mine is working just fine as you can see. I can't imagine what would be causing that weird symbol for you. It doesn't look like anything I've ever seen on my keyboard. Now you'll have to let us know what this was once you figure it out.

It just comes once in a while. Now it could be because my computer is a Compac Presario Pentium 4 (translation just a little more then the e machines and just as reliable) so it could be messing things up that way. I have had the computer cleaned, shook the keyboard a few times, vacuumed the bloody thing, but when this weird symbol comes, I have to go to my notepad that does not have a spell checker, and then copy and paste the information from the apostrophe on into the myLot text box. It is so frustrating.

It could be my computer, but then why does it just happen with myLot? And it does not just happen all the time, just some of the time. I do have an anti keylogger just in case of evil hackers, but do not know if that anti keylogger works with stuff on line. Have to find out for myself. I do wish someone would be definite instead of the 'it is your fault." Now if they say all Compac Presarios are prone to this, that I would believe.

Are you using Windows Vista, and a newer keyboard? I have this problem too, and it used to drive me nuts!!! I find that pressing CTRL + Shift a couple of times will eventually solve the problem. It used to baffle the heck out of me too, until I just started pressing buttons on my keyboard. Eventually I fixed it.

I have Windows Xp, and the regular compac keyboard. I will try the Ctrl and shift and see if that works. Do you have a Compac Presario like I have? I do have a newer keyboad, with all the bells and whistles that do not exactly work though.

Hello suspensful, I haven't had that problem, but I do have a dual keyboard, and can sometimes switch from English to Thai if I hat the wrong key.

I think it has to do with the browser, but I am not sure. It just happens and I have no idea how.

I have not notice it happening, could it be a setting on your computer. From what I can tell, it is not doing it when I type. Have a happy day.

It has something to do with Firefox and the settings. And it only works in myLot. It is all right now, but last week that strange symbol kept showing up. I will wait for the next upgrade of Firefox and see if that does anything.

No, I don't have that problem, could it be your keyboard is messed up?

If it were just my keyboard then that symbol would happen when I type on Word, and Notetab, but it does not. So it has to be something with the settings at myLot. So I am going to change the setting to Western Windows and see if that will solve the problem. So here I will type the apostrophe ??? no that did not work.

Nothing to do with the dumb quotes. It is the apostrophe, quotes, etc. are changed with the Þ when I am using Firefox. I had to go to Opera, but then I use Roboform for my financial banking passwords and that is not on Opera, so now I have to switch to Firefox for my financial transactions.

It is very normal. Of course I have a crappy Pentium 4 and a Compac Presario so that is not that good.

Nope, that is an issue with your computer. Best guess the keyboard is dirty and needs to be cleaned, or you are hitting the wrong button. Just saying.

Ah....I see. Then what happened is your settings either in Mylot or your browsers is messed up. I have never seen that before, e-mail Mylot and see what they say about it.

It is not happening when I write on my note tab or my Word, and paste it in. It is only when I type directly on the box here at myLot. And I have shaken my keyboard and it does not help. I even tried the character encoding and that did not work. Right now it is on Unicode.
