Well 5 actually, but I have been up for an hour having been awake for most of the night. Don't know why, but I just can't sleep tonight. Am I alone in the World - are you sleeping or awake?

P1ke- I am waiting up for my husband to get home, and am typically up late every night he works. I am one who cannot sleep when he's not home-so I busy myself online or what not. Right now I'm trying to catch up on missed threads, and watching the end of The Bridge over the river Kwai. I love this movie, one of my personal Sir Alec Guiness favorites. Some times though there are nights that I just am not restful. I end up reading, journaling, or if already in bed just laying awake with thoughts. I think we all experience these types of nights when the soul is just somehow troubled. I tend to do my deepest thinking though during these hours, so there is always a silver lining. Namaste-Anora

To quote you: Some times though there are nights that I just am not restful I find that I can't switch my mind off when I've done the most work in front of the computer...writing articles, being here at MyLot--I don't know there's something about staring at the computer screen that keeps me "wired" so I have a hard time settling my mind down

Thank fully this doesn't happen very often Anora. I loathe it when it does as it throws me right out for the next day. I am a boy that needs his sleep. I hope that you enjoy "Bridge". I have seen it so many times and it still moves me.

Pye-Agreed, it definately does that to me. P1ke-I love this movie and it is one of my personal favorites. And yes, am now watching The Adventures of Robin Hood. lol Space-Glad I'm not the only one on here who loves the old movies! Two grand actors Earl Flynn and Basil Rathbone! Namaste-Anora

Its 9.45 A.M. here and I am at work. I too had a restless night yesterday, but then I have some problems which need to be looked into. I toss and turn, but never get up to do something. If I am up and about, then I know sleep wont come at all. So I just close my eyes and try to relax.

It isn't unusual for me to stay up until around 2am or later. I still manage to get out of bed by 7-8am, so it really doesn't affect my day-to-day life. I stay up late mainly because my husband refuses to go to bed at a reasonable hour and I just can't get comfy without him. :p

My BIL is a stay up all nighter and his wife is like you. She's always so sleepy because she refuses to go to bed. She's a teacher and I sometimes wonder whether she falls asleep at work! LOL.

Have tried a hot water bottle,a pain pill to help, I know I can't sleep when in pain. Or a soak in the hottest water you can stand to be able to relax all over. Maybe some warm milk(or hot chocolate,which makes me sleepy)and try to snuggle down in comforter even with the air conditioner or fans going.

You know how to do it Becky. My head is pounding and I need to pee! I'm cramped and getting a bit chilly. At least it's light outside now.

What are you doing up at that time in the morning? Didn't you have your cocoa before going to bed? I was up until 2.45 because I was laying a game but I was fast asleep by 3. Why couldn't you sleep, it's easy, you read a book until your eyes close and then your other half turns the light out and puts the book away. Have a hug anyway.

When I go to bed - I go to bed to sleep. I have tried to read but the light goes out a long time before I can really get started Nanna. I had a dream about being one of only three people working in a factory when everyone else had been laid off! Couldn't get back to sleep after that. Thanks for the hug. XXXX

It's just after midnight here, which makes it just after 6am where you are. The world is shrinking.... I'd love to stay up and play with you, but I've had a long day and I must get to bed before the sun comes up. I get very confused when I see the sun go down, look up and there it is again on the other side of the house winking at me! LOL

I'm awake. I was just coloring my hair a nice shade of "natural" dark auburn. Goodness are you going to feel awful all day or do you manage to shrug off sleep deprivation?
@p1kef1sh (45681)

I am going to feel awful - I do already! Nice hair colour. Don't you just love it when your hair does things naturally. Mine falls out!

Oh well, my friend,i didn't see your discussion last week. But, last night i had been awake all night until this hour. I can't get myself to sleep, i don't know why. So, i had been sitting in front of my computer since midnight last night. I only gave it a rest at 5am because i had to prepare breakfast and go to the market to buy our food for the week.Now, that i have finished cooking and have arranged all that i have bought in the freezer and refrigerator, i am at my computer again, i mean here on mylot again responding. To tell you the truth, it is a little quite in here at this hour. Just one or two discussions are posted every few minutes, maybe majority of the people on here are sleeping. Are you sleeping too, my friend? If so, then, pleasant dreams to you.

I don't know but i did got to relax and sleep the rest of the day, thank you. Yes, quite odd but kind of nice too, imagine soldiers dancing with children, maybe that means peace around the world. Which i think is the dream of everyone.

I some time awake before dawn. But I don't feel loneliness .To feel loneliness there mus be a environment.That I don't find in a city's apartment.

I am sure that you can hear the sound of the city waking at that time Bhanusb. There's something comforting about lying there knowing that things are moving.

It's only a little after 11 pm here. What are you thinking about if you can't sleep? I hate night when I toss and turn. It's better to get up for a bit, than to lay awake not sleeping. Unless you happen to be enjoying whatever you're thinking about.....

I go through that at times where I can't sleep and I am up through the night. Sometimes it can be from the anxiety I go through. And sometimes I just lay there and pray till I fall a sleep. Most of the time when I lay there and pray I have a peaceful sleep through out the night. Do you ever think God wakes you up for a reason? Or just to pray.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
24 Jul 09
I don't know if God wakes me up at all. But the fact that I do wake up means that he's not exercised the other option - to not wake up at all!!

26 Jul 09
I would pray about it to see what he wants you to do. I am not sure if you are a Christan or not. But God could be wanting you to do something for him or to even protect you from danger. He always has his way of dealing with people. I know he has woke me up and I would be wide awake until I prayed and felt like couldn't pray anymore.

Well it is 5:30 am here and I been up all night, first of all when I go lay down my sinus starts running and it runs into my throat and strangles me. So once that starts I am awake and up for the rest of the night. Then there are some nights that about 10 or 11 I start with the cleaning, I have never been a person to sleep at night. My hubby is in Louisiana visiting family and this would leave me here alone but my grand son is staying with me while he is gone. He finds some good movies on the tv and I get into watching them and that keeps me up later too. I can not go into the bedroom and just lay there for hours waiting to go to sleep. I will just get up and go back to the computer or do laundry rather than lay. I need to go to sleep shortly after I go to bed to be able to stay in there. I spend many nights with maybe not more than a couple hours of sleep.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
24 Jul 09
Sinuses are painful things when they misbehave. I'm sorry that your give you such trouble. Better to keep active I suppose. I felt awful yesterday for not having enough sleep. I went back to bed twice!

I often stay up late because I can't sleep. I've learned just to make the most of it, probably what you do, and enjoy a book or a movie. That's another perk of being unemployed! But I do enjoy that time of morning just before the sun comes up and all the world seems to be asleep with me as the only one awake. It's kind of lonely but very precious, like I rule the world! Sunrises are the best!
@p1kef1sh (45681)

I know exactly what you mean. If I deliberately get up at that time then I'm OK. It's waking up from disturbed sleep that wrecks me.

I am awake here, but it's still early at the moment, only a minute or two before 11:00 pm here in West Virginia. Sometimes I stay up late, but these days I usually go to sleep around midnight at the very latest. I used to love staying up all night until 4:00, 5:00, even 6:00 or later (earlier?) in the morning, but when you get a day job, sometimes things change... I don't mind going to bed early because my boyfriend and I both work during the day, so our schedule corresponds for the most part.
