I am a certified, card carrying goofball

This morning I was making sandwiches for the twins. Since they don't like the same thing on their sandwiches, I usually mark the sandwich bag with their initial. Well this morning inspiration struck and instead I wrote them each a poem For Cary: Roses are red. Vampires are scary. This little sandwich Is only for Cary. For Naomi: Naomi's sandwich Has no honey. That's because she's Sweet and funny. Poor Dearra got left out of the fun because she didn't want a sandwich. So when they saw them, Naomi gave me the "you're so weird look", but with a little smile too. And Cary kept reading his over and over again and giggling. Dearra gave me a look. I might have to try it on her next time I make her a sandwich just to see what she does. Want to see my card?

That's so cool. I would love to have seen the kids reaction...specially Dearra's if she had one. Maybe next time. I'm guessing she will be delighted deep inside but Aww Mo-om, I'm not a kid ...on the outside...lol.

I did one yesterday and asked her if she was embarrassed and she said no, that she's comfortable with being weird.

It does sound a perfect morning indeed I remember you saying somewhere else that you are not a morning person and that's why I wondered. Your kids are really lucky, card or no card

Maybe it's partly attitude, but when I'm at work and I really don't want to be, it's zzzzzz. But the kids perk me up no matter how tired I am!

This was one of those blessed mornings in which they weren't fighting. So no yelling. And actually I get a kick out of my kids, they make me laugh. So even though I am absolutely NOT a morning person, I often get a lot of laughs in the morning.

I don't think that was goofy at all Dawn. I think it was really a sweet thing to do to make your kids feel special. I would have loved that that when i was a kid if my mother & done something like that but she didn't. I think that just shows what a caring mom u are.

Hey Dawn, I didn't realize you have twins. How old are they and your other daughter? I love the poems you put on the sandwiches. The kids may have given you funny faces but believe me this will be a memory they will talk about for life. These little things make big impressions. I'm impressed. Hugssss leenie

The twins will be 9 in a month and Dearra is 12. Naomi said I should just put a 'N' on hers today because her friend Samantha laughed. I think I'll write "hi Samantha" on it instead! :-)

Hi Samantha is a good idea. I'm a twin. Growing up as a twin was wonderful and frustrating. I love to hear stories about twins. My youngest brother of 6 has twin boys. I'm loving that. I always wanted to have twins. No such luck. leenie

They're a lot of fun, but twin babies? Oy. If they're not both crying at the same time, they're taking turns. I'm not quite sure which is worse. It was pretty exhausting. The weird thing is, I'm pretty sure I had a premonition about it, early in the pregnancy, long before the ultrasound, I woke up one morning absolutely convinced I was having twins. Thought about it, said "naaaah", and then about 4 weeks later I found it that it was.

You sound like so much fun. I think my kids would have enjoyed something like this. I can hardly wait to hear what you come up with for Dearra. Can you take a picture of the "you're so weird" look. I want to memorialize it.

Goofballs are the best kind of people, and I even created an interest on here for goofballs under "roles I play in life." I got the idea, when I took a bunch of goofy pics of myself with my webcam's special effects, and needed a place to upload 'em. LOL And the peoms are a great way to keep the sandwiches separate. Good thinking, and i like your sense of humour.

I think I meant "goofball" instead of "goofballs," but it's in there. You can see the funny pics I took of myself with the camera. LOL It was pretty funny, and inspired the interest. I hope to see a lot of stuff from you under "goofball." Thanks for the best response.

With all of that sweet sugar you should be able to tame the worst monster, even a big ole grumpy man should appreciate a taste of that kind of nectar and if nice enough could even be encouraged for more... Words, Carrots, Sticks, balls, and boobies Hmmmm?

It's about time they gave you an official card! I think it's great that you're doing little things like this for your kids because it's only a matter of time before they hit that stage where all they'll do is roll their eyes whenever you open your mouth. Milk it while you can I reckon!

That sounds like a perfectly sane and rational thing to do. How old are the children? Mine are 'grown-up' now so I have to send them interesting little treats in the post - like pancakes, hot-cross buns, one-legged jelly babies and instant snow (sealable plastic bag - just add water, freeze, remove from bag and then grate it) What a shame you dont live nearer, 'cos, when you make that sandwich for Dearra, I think she'll laugh and I'd like to hear her. You keep on carrying that card dawn!!

Yes, the Shrove Tuesday type of pancakes. When my 1st son went to Uni,I knew he would miss them so I sent him some. He threw them away. When my younger son went to Uni,I felt I should treat him the same. He sent me a text saying "Thanx 4 pancakes. Unlike woossie son, I ate mine"

You really are a funny lady, Dawn. Can I have one of those cards, too? Where do I get one, huh, huh, huh? Those funny little things are the things that your kids are going to remember when they are older, and have kids of their own.

You sound like a really cool mom! My mother never did anything like this for me when I was a kid. My husband will put a little note in my lunch every once in a while. I have saved some of them. I have one in my purse & one in my desk at work. He left me a note on the kitchen table that I would see today before I went to work. It really made my day. It said to have a nice day & I did!
