My heating and air system has not being working properly since November. I called a heating and air company because I did not have a handy man. Well, this company told me it was going to cost me almost $300.00 to fix. I did not have it so I paid them the $80.00 service charge. A friend recommend this guy to check it out and lo and behold. It was not a major problem the cost was $80.00. My system is working fine, and I just receive my electricity bill. It is $100.00 less. Do you have someone you can trust to fix stuff around your home?

no i do not unfortunately. I want one tho, I am always wanting to have friends and different fields(like friends who are mechanics, handymen, lawyers...) so that I can always get a deal on something. But as for now I do not, we just always try to fix stuff independantly when we had a home and now we have an apt its not as big of an issue.

Yea, having an apartment you just call someone. It's great to be independent.

Nope. I used to have a handy man when my dad was still alive. He taught me so much stuff over the years that I'm the handy 'Ma'am' now. Last winter I fixed the furnace myself when it pooped out in the middle of a blizzard. I replaced the whole shower stall and plumbing myself. It took 2 weeks, but I did it and it looks great! If I'm really, really, stuck, like with electricity, I can call my brother and he'll either come over or give me detailed instructions. The only think I won't touch is re-wiring anything, electricity scares the beejeebers out of me! One thing I've learned is that with time, patience, and a whole lot of caution, we women can do most anything if we put our minds to it lol.

I'm lucky in that we live in apartments and I can call the maintance guy if I need to for bigger jobs and I can do smaller jobs myself. If it's something I can't do but can't call the maintance guy, I can always call my oldest brother and get him to come over. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

Yes my neighbor is brilliant handyman. Although we met at very odd circumstances (he was a peeping tom when I first moved here but now we're buddies) But he's adorable and always checks up on like am his little daughter. But he's a handy man which is a bonus for me so I don't get to pay ridiculous prices to get my stuff fixed. Besides I'm a bit of a handy girl myself so I can take care of most of my stuff. Watch me in a french maid's outfit and I'll fix anything!

I have learned over the years how to fix things so now when smething goes wrong I can usually fix it. My wife just told me the Central air unit outside wasnt working even though it was running in here, so I checked and it was the thermostat. So tomorrow I have to pick up a new one at home depot. But for now I have it working again. If its something I cant fix, I know people that can usually fix it.

We primarily hire things to be done around the house since my husband can't do anything except take out the trash..lol Our son-in-law can to anything and has helped us quite a bit but he works so much and is on call 24 hours at a time. He also has a baby and helps with her since our daughter works at night. He recently powerwashed our house and got rid of the mold on one side of the house that looked horrible. Our other daughter's boyfriend is always willing to help too. He can do heating and cooling. Before we get into colder weather, I will have the furnace serviced and cleaned otherwise we run the risk of it going out in the middle of the freezing cold weather.

Hello Venshida, We have an apartment of our own and we do face problems from time to time,e.g. plumbing related, electricity related, etc. We are lucky to have found out a man who knows about all these things and he is our go to man whenever we need to get anything fixed in the house.. be it the broken furniture or the electric motor or the plumbing job. He doesn't overcharge hence we're all very happy.
