The blogs that address Obama's position on the Defense of Marriage Act are sending out conflicting signals. I think he is simply playing to politics and telling all the parties involved what he thinks they want to hear. What are your thoughts on this? http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2271190/posts

I know he's said he believes marriage is between a man and a woman. However, you can still believe that, while understanding that allowing states to violate our constitution is a no-no. There are a number of politicians out there that disagree with gay marriage, but seem to be of the opinion that this should be a state-by-state issue. Obama may be one of those politicians.

Obama has stated that he believes DOMA interferes with states' rights, and should be overturned. Not surprisingly, this is not an widely publicized stance and other democrats are trying to explain away his statement, but "the proof is in the pudding." http://obamas-hushed-vow.blogspot.com/index.html

From the article: DOMA is the federal statute that says state X, which prohibits gay marriage, can’t be forced to recognize a gay marriage performed in state Y. As Tapper reminds us, candidate Obama opposed it in 2007. Two years later, Change has come to America. Question: Why does the president hate gay people? Because 0bama's supporters hate gay people. That's why. When you've got the richest 5% of the population in the WORLD telling you how to run your country, you listen and you take notes. If 0bama's bankrollers don't like gay people, then 0bama doesn't like gay people.

Good point. He is going to side with whoever butters his bread the most.
