Do all you parents out there vaccinate your kids? I've been researching this issue for a while, and I'm kind of scared now to vaccinate. I want to know what other parents think about this topic.

Hi JLSpilios, all the controversy over vaccines I believe is overblown and it is absolutely ridiculous to hear of childern dying of measles when a simple childhood vaccine would have prevented it. My son has had all his vaccinations with no ill effect and it is expected that the vaccination book is checked by the school to make sure everything is up to date. I believe not to do so is irresponsible and can be the cause of small epidemics starting when like minded parents against vaccinations then mix their children together.

Hi thea09, There are some claims now though that the measles vaccine is what is causing people to get measles. Also, they have found the measles virus in those who have autism, which is also causing intestinal inflammation. There are a lot of people who get the vaccines and have no problems. I'm just so worried about all of the people who do have reactions to them, and I don't want my daughter to have one. I don't know what I'm going to do.

Measles had been eradiacted as a disease until people started making unsubstantiated claims about autism and vaccination. It is the lack of vaccination which is causing the return of measles. You must make your own decision but take the chance of your child suffering needlessly if she is not fully vaccinated. I went with logic, these vaccinations have been around for years and have stopped a simple disease which used to be a killer in many instances. You have to consider as well the chances of your child contracting the illness and passing it on, for instance to a pregant woman or another child who has also not been vaccinated. My son received these vaccines before we lived in Greece but I approve the system here which would not allow him to attend school without all the vaccines being completely up to date.

We didn't vaccinate our DD and any future children we have won't be vaccinated As with all medications, vaccinations are not 100% effective. Any time any person her comes to school with whooping cough, a significant portion of the vaccinated kids will be affected also as the vaccines aren't a 100% sure fire safety net. I have to write a letter saying we are claiming our religious exemption when it comes time to put her in school. A few of the other kids my DD's age aren't vaccinated either, so we feel that we aren't the only ones questioning why the government has a say in how we raise our children. Plenty of my friends have decided against vaccinating and have used the religious waiver and haven't had a problem one. We know lots of people who don't vax and lots who do, but it's up to each parent to decide. Personally I think that vaccines are an assalt on human health. I don't think you abuse your kids when you vaccinate or don't vaccinate them for that matter. You think you are doing what is right for your kid whether you vaccinate or not. There are parents spending 10 years in prison for abuse, then years later they realize that the vaccines are the cause of some of these cases. Personally I think we overmedicate for any little cough, sniffle or scratch. ADD/ADHD is a huge scapegoat. If your child is "over active", then he's automatically got ADD/ADHD and you've got a legal reason to give him downers to calm him down.

I haven't had my toddler son vaccinated. We have a vegan diet and the vaccines are not suitable for vegans. I have a baby daughter as well. She hasn't had any vaccinations either. My teenage son had some vaccinations that my ex-husband wanted him to have. The vaccine I think that is the worst is called the MMR. It stands for mumps, measles and rubella. Not all vaccines are safe. There is a book called What the Doctors Don't Tell You About Vaccination. We went on holiday to South Africa and I heard that TB is common there. I found that worrying but we came home perfectly healthy.

well I am vaccinated and so are all 5 of my kids we are all healthy and have suffered no medical problems due to the vaccinations I feel that its better to be safe than sorry and that is why I chose to vacinate my kids does that mean I think everyone should be vaccinated? NO its a personal choice I know a family who does not vaccinate and their child is perfectly healthy and happy
