Rock Band

Last week, the bass pedal for the drum set on our Guitar Hero broke. When we took it back to Best Buy, they were out of Guitar Hero. They gave us the choice of letting them order another game or they would knock $20 off the price and give us Rock Band instead. It came with a Beatles game. We chose the Rock Star. The drums and guitar are both very different from Guitar Hero, but the kids actually like them better. For instance, on Guitar Hero, the drums had three pads plus two cymbals. The Rock Band just has four pads, plus the bass pedal. We also got the kids the game that is Classic Rock, and includes things from Pat Benetar, Credence Clearwater Revival and Aerosmith! We had to return the game that had originally come with the Guitar Hero, and that was a shame because we liked some of the songs. We still have the Guitar Hero-Country Music that James bought on Labor Day when all the kids were here playing. So here's my question. Do you own or have you played either Guitar Hero or Rock Band? If you've played both, which one do you prefer...or do you think they're about the same? Which games do you have? Country, Classic Rock, Guitar Hero 5, Disney?

We have a lot of games for guitar hero and we have rock band, the drum all the way to the left broke so we have to play it without the drums until I can get another set. I do better at the singing and the guitar is next, never could play those drums, anyways! I like Rock Band, my kids like guitar hero. I think rock band is fun when there are more than two people....my fave thing to do is grunge talk into the mic!! Guitar hero has drums and what else now? I'm guessing the same instruments that rock band has...

I've never tried to grunge talk into the microphone. How does one go about doing that. I'm so old and out of talk for the new lingo that you may have to explain to me exactly what grunge talk is! As far as the instruments, Rock Band has the drums and Guitar, and mike, just like the Guitar Hero does. I want to add the optional bass drum

Old?! lol....I think I'm older than you but my boys listen to this music once in a while and it ususally sounds like the singer drank a couple gallons of oil & paint thinner it's like a low growl but it's fun to do on the mic on the games. If you've ever heard the music from Machine Head or job for a cowboy they're a good example.

no..those are both new groups to me! LOL Well, I'll be 43 next week, so am I younger than you? My kids are all big country music fans so I'm not much into the MTV music anymore. We also like alot of the praise and worship music. The only Christian music is for Praise guitar, and none of it is compatitble with Guitar Hero or Rock Band. I wish it were, because I think they would sell alot more of the disks if you didn't have to purchase a new guitar.

That surprises me that you're unable to find it, because I haven't noticed that there was a shortage here. You might try Ebay or half.com to see if either of these have it. I know they usually ship to other countries. Have you looked at Amazon? I don't know if they ship outside the United States or not.

We have one of the Guitar Hero games. My youngest daughter used to love to play it but now that we are living in the country and she can ride her 4 wheeler and play with the animals, she is not inside enough to play it. I hope that we can get her the Rock Band this winter if she will play it once it gets cold outside.

We just got our Wii a couple of weeks ago. We sure have enjoyed it so far. Tonight Lauren and I went to Gamestop and picked up a couple of Previously Viewed Games. We got My Word Coach, which is puzzle games to increase your vocabulary. It will help my daughter who is taking a composition class in college a whole bunch. We also got another one of the sports game that has pool, table tennis, and vow racing on it.

My kids have a friend's Rock Band at our house. They enjoy playing it, especially when they nhave friends over. My son had wanted Guitar Hero for Christmas last year or the year before but didn't get it. Seems like it was hard to find that year.

Yeah, the year before last when they were fairly new on the market, they were hard to find, and so much more expensive than they are now! We paid just less than half for ours than what my sister in law did for theirs Two years ago! I love all the games that are available for them now too!

Last Saturday, all three of my kids were home from college, and they all had friends over! At one point there were 9 young people in my livingroom, ranging in age from 18 to 22! I guess you could add my husband in there, cuz he was playing too! so from 18 to 41! They were having a ball, and nobody was really fighting over the instruments at all. They were passing back and forth depending on the song, and who wanted to sing what etc...

I prefer rockband so much more except the fact that the drum pads on the sets easily break. I belong to a youth group and they really really abuse the poor things don't and i meant think it over, There not like real drums and will break really easy if you start bashing on them..... Better Graphics , More Song Choices! , Just better all together flow in the game .. and last but not least I love the fact that you can play on drums

I do love the graphics. It was the only thing that I really liked about the Beatles game, was that the graphics actually look like Paul, Ringo, and John! Unlike the Country version of Guitar Hero where the graphics for the Kenny Chesney song--the man looks like a hippie that escaped from the 70's!

I have Guitar Hero games (one to four and none of the specific genre/band ones), and I've tried a Rock Band game over at a friend's house. I guess I prefer Guitar Hero. For Rock Band, there's no extra songs and no real point in trying to get perfect in each song. And the pedal on the drums is too hard. But then again, I don't have any one to play a full band with, so there wasn't any real point in getting Rock Band.

I think I prefer Rock Band. I have tried Guitar Hero before but I guess the ones you mentioned above are all applicable to Rock Band. It has 4 pedals and a bass pedal. It is really like the real one! I have classic rock and disney though. You could buy CDs with rock band though. And it cost a lot cheaper.
