What a laugh I had at Church on Saturday

I did a presentation on a topic at Church on Saturday and was feeling so happy because I knew that I had got through to everyone and their responses were amazing. We had a service int he evening so after the presentation I went to the supermarket and then decided to go to Church for the service Saturday evening and spend Sunday doing odd jobs and would work in the garden. I saw the new Priest just before the service began and we were talking about my presentation and things in general when all of a sudden a parishioner appeared and was frantically signalling us to be quiet. I looked at the parishioner in amazement but the Priest had cottoned on very quickly and told me that he had his mike on for the service (in his vestments)so our discussion was being heard throughout the Church by everyone as they waited for the service to begin. So I entered by a side entrance before the Priest and all of my friends were laughing as they had heard the entire conversation very distinctly. They laughed even harder when I told them that I gave thanks that it was not my confession of sins that they were hearing! Has anything embarrassing like this ever happened to you at Church?

OMG, lol. I'm laughing with you. Nothing like that hasn't happened to me, but I've had other embarassing things to happen. Like my skirt being tucked in or me passing gas when I got to speak. lol So I know how it could be to get embarassed at church.

I know what you mean re the skirt. As I rise I am already tugging at it so it won't get tucked in. The climate is so hot out her that this can happen so frequently

That's a great story! I sing with the church's praise team and we are often mic-ed before service. A gal who sings with us had snuck out of practice at one point. We were discussing one of the songs when we heard a tinkling noise! We were dying laughing! You can imagine what we thought! When she returned, she said "What!?" She then explained to us that she had been filling the coffee pot from the sink in the church kitchen. Poor thing! The things we had been thinking!! Another story happened two years ago during the kid's church play. One of the little boys in a lead part, was barely functioning due to the flu. Only those of us who had children in the play were aware of it though. At one point in the play, he did not appear in time for a particular scene. We realized where he was however, when we heard his mic pick up the sound of the toilet flushing after he threw up! And then....... he came out and continued the play as if nothing happened! Dedication!!

Those stories are much better than mine! I know that our Saviour wants us to enjoy this life whilst serving Him. YOu reminded me of a story that happened on Christmas Day some year ago. During the service we always incorporate the Nativity story - this is performed by eh children. This year we had a real cutie as an Angel. She had huge black eyes and her hair was just a riot of curls tumbling to her shoulders. Evidently she had asked for a drink just before she was about to 'go on'. Her teacher told her that she would get it afterwards and this did not please her one bit. She walked out from and said in a loud voice. I WILL NOT SAY MY PART UNTIL i GET MY JUICE! she WAS ALL OF FOUR YEARS OLD! EVERYONE COLLAPSED WITH SILENT LAUGHS AS SHE DRANK HER JUICE AND THEN SID HER LINES'. IT WAS SO FUNNY. Ooops ! gone into caps. I am laughing at the memory!

Not like that......but when my son was little we were sitting in the back row on Easter Sunday. My mother was holding him....well all of a sudden all the lights went out! The whole congregation turned around....the light switches were right behind my mom and son and he was having a great time turning off the lights etc..my mother took off and took him home.....my dad and I stayed and our pew shook for about fifteen minutes from the laughing! My mother was sooooooo embarassed.

Oh, your poor mother. I would have just laughed or made a joke of it. I wouldn't have left. I really must think about growing up!

Thank goodness you weren't talking about something embarrassing! Only embarrassing thing that ever happened to me was hiccups while visiting a cathedral or two in Europe...

That is too funny!!!! I haven't ever had it happen to me but I was in service once when the evangelist left his on while he went to the men's room. Fortunately someone had enough sympathy to go knock on the door and inform him before it got too embarrassing. He returned to the sanctuary red faced but no harm done! LOL

I do hope that you find your faith. Have you spoken to leader of a mosque about your problem?

No, I don't remember anything like that ever happening in the Church. I'd like to say that you were really a sport about the whole incident and you just don't have to be embarrased at all.

That is so funny! My dad is a pastor. And about fifteen years ago at a church he pastored back then, we had a big play at our church. I was an angel, so I was on the stage the entire time (although one couldn't see us all the time). So after one particular scene was through, the lady who had been in that scene went to the bathroom at the back of the church. So as the play is still going on, we hear some sounds that I shall not describe. She had gone to the bathroom, and forgotten to turn off the microphone attached to her outfit! As I was still onstage, I got a big 'ol view of everyone's reactions.

Someone rushed back to the bathroom and had her turn her microphone off.

No, not really, but it's nice to read that those things actually happen in real life - you find that stuff usually in movies. But you seem to be a person with a sense of humor, and whatver you do and it makes people smile and laugh, then it was worthwhile. Good luck.

Leave it to you Cynthi!! How do you get yourself in these situations I wonder?? No I've never been embarassed in such a way in my life, but I'm still young. Thankfully you handle embarassment well. I wouldn't do nearly as well in the same situation.

oh, that was strange. why did not the priest turned his mic on first. did he forget that he had a mic on in his vestments. yeah thankfully you were not talking something personal or else it will a shock to you. ha ha. but i guess the priest would have stop you though if you are starting to talk about personal things cause he may remember by that time you have the mic on already. it just reminded me of this soap i watch before. that this two characters are having personal discussion inside radio station in a school practically for whole school to hear their own music from their school radio station. they thought they had turned it off. and so when they were discussion their love problems so the people in the school overheard of their discussions. LOL.

So you landed in another "situation". It is really funny dear friend. No, I didn't find myself in a situation like this but I don't know what will I do if I am the one involved. maybe I would just flee and dig a burrow and shall never come out throughout the winter. I am still having the smile on my face while I am writing this.
