I live by myself and there are times when I don't like to cook and I will just settle for a can of Heinz baked beans on toast! I love this and I used to have this all the time when I was first learning how to cook. There's nothing wrong with beans on toast! It's easy! It's healthy! It's fast! Best of all it takes about five to ten minutes to prepare! I love the Heinz brand and generally don't go for other types as I find the sauce really runny! So, share your thoughts on the common bean!Andrew

Hey I like your new avatar! Wow, that's being observant for me! Sorry I digress, as for the humble bean, well it's been overkill for me because suddenly I have gone off baked beans, I can't stomach them, I guess I have had so many of the beans in the past that my body has closed it's doors to beans. I love runner beans however, but they have to be raw, cook runner beans and I won't eat them, weird eh? But I certainly won't eat cold baked beans either. If I want a quick snack I usually grab a cereal bowl or else do cheese on toast, oh and when I did eat beans it had to be Heinz too, no other make had the same taste or style! Bon appetite!

Nope! Cold! I am 'can't cook, won't cook' type of guy! And I hated those fray bentos pies, and they still make the yukky things too!

Ah, a thoroughly modern man I see. Is this why you live on ice cream?

I like baked beans I just never eat them! I really like baked beans on toast with cheese and baked beans with jacket potatoe aswell or maybe even with chips! I can only eat Heinz baked beans though so I am always a bit wary about eating them if I don't know where they have come from. People might think I am slightly sad if I ask specifically for Heinz baked beans!

I think that beans go well with jacket potatoes and cheese! I'm taking a little break from eating beans but I will return to them in due course no doubt! Heinz baked beans are a very good brand from what I have experienced! Andrew

For me an easy bean meal is just chili beans in a tortilla with some grated cheese on top. I've never tried the beans on toast but maybe I will. !!Happy Halloween!! ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

That sounds very hot and spicy! I think I will stick with the Heinz beans on toast! I need to open up another tin I think as it has been quite a few weeks since I last had this meal. Andrew

I love beans with sauce. Funny, but my girls love it too. when they do not like the dish i cooked then they would just settle for pork and beans with bread. They just love Hunt's pork and beans. They both could consume a large can of it.

I am greatful for beans also. I think making homemade beans sounds like an idea too for me. I think this discussion is awesome here, I mean with money being tight everywhere we must all find ways to save some cash in our pockets. Take care and happy mylotting as well.

I love beans on toast too! It is so simple to prepare and it is yummy too! I sometimes add a few spices to the baked beans first. I sometimes put in a few mustard seeds and a little chilli to give it that extra kick! I quite like Branston baked beans myself. Used to like Heinz before but I feel they are not as good as they used to be.

I have never tried beans with spices but I will take your word for it that this makes a good meal! I think that branston is starting to become quite a popular brand now. Still, I will always favour the Heinz baked bean above everything else! I'm just happy that it doesn't take that long to prepare! Andrew

Yes Branston are definitely becoming serious competition for Heinz! I love the way the sauce tastes of Branston beans! Why not try spicy beans one day? You might just like them.

Hi Andrew, while baked beans on toast might be a handy snack and full of fibre, did you really say you cooked it when learning to cook? Opening a tin does not count as cooking, nor does toasting a piece of bread. How on earth does it manage to take you as much as ten minutes? Don't tell me, you also cook Fray and Bentos pies don't you? Come on admit it

I just love all that fibre in beans and it's very good for the system. Well, I warm the beans up, I don't boil them otherwise this destroys the taste! Anyway, those Bentos pies, they're the ones in the tins aren't they? I don't think I've tried those but I would probably just open up the tin and read the instructions on the tin! Andrew

I haven't had this in years and years but it sure does bring back some memorys. my gram always saved the left over beans when we had beans and franks. For us it was Friends brand. The next day we would have either cold bean sandwhich or beans over toast. it was delicious.

I've never had a bean sandwich, that sounds quite unique! I shall have to bear that in mind when I next open a tin, I'm thinking that it might be quite nice. I like the idea that there's not much washing up involved afterwards! Well, it's nice to eat something easy from time to time. Andrew

Yes, this topic's all about beans would you believe! I don't like those kinds of beans, I think that I prefer to stick to what I'm used to! I think that beans on toast is a good, healthy meal and it certainly does your system some good. It's been quite a few weeks now since I last had some beans on toast so I think that I'm due another tin! Andrew

I really like to eat baked beans with Ruffle chips for some odd reason. AS a matter of fact I could eat that as a meal if I had too. But it has to be Ruffles with the Ridges and it has to be Bush's Baked Beans nothing else nothing less. I have heard a lot about eating beans with toast and it does sound very healthy. I mean beans are a high source of protien and I will be thinking about this in the future for a planned dinner for my family. Thanks for the idea and happy mylotting to you as well.

There comes a time when you eat too much beans and I used to do this in the past but I think I have achieved a balance now whereby I only eat them occasionally. I like the fact that they are high in fibre and are very good for the system. They are so quick to prepare as well. Andrew

I do tend to buy alot of baked beans as well as you can put them with a lot of meals as well as they are very cheap to buy.I tend to buy shops own brand as they have got alot better and the children also put sauce on them as well so they can not be that bad.

I think they make for a very easy meal and they are very satisfying! They come in packs of four now and this is a cheaper way to buy them otherwise the single tins can be quite expensive. I always make sure that I don't overheat them as this can impair the flavour and they are no good at all then! Andrew

I like beans and toast but I do not warm the beans up I like them cold. I will not put the beans on the toast because I do not like soggy bread. I put the beans in a bowl and just toast a piece of bread and it them. If I eat this it will be for lunch.

I have never had cold beans, I'm not sure that I would be all that keen having them this way. However, beans are beans I guess and I'm sure that they will probably taste the same hot or cold. Some people have beans on toast for breakfast but I have only ever had them for dinner and they would really help me to relax for the evening. Andrew

There was a time when I used to throw a can of beans into some fried potatoes with a bit of onion and top with cheese. Haven't had it in a long time tho..Liz doesn't much care for the aftermath. The main po' food now is fried potatoes topped with cheese and fried or poached eggs. ENJOY!

I love baked jacket potatoes and I think that they go very well with a tin of beans added as a topping. I haven't had this for a long time but again, this is another quick dish to prepare. I love cheese on the common jacket potato but hence we are talking about beans for the moment! Andrew

Beans are a great store cupboard staple, cheap and convenient! I like them on toast and I really like the ones which have sausages too. I have found a very cheap variety which has thick sauce and is just as tasty as the famous brands.

I have had those tinned beans that also contain mini sausages with them and they are very nice. I think that these go quite well on toast as well. I think that the only problem with beans is the fact that they help you to pass wind that more more easily! It's quite embarrassing but that's the consequence of eating beans I guess! Andrew

I love Beans on toast, it is one of the best things to eat ever. I also only eat the Heinz brand as I have tried other brands that weren't nice at all.

I think that other brands of baked beans do tend to be not so nice and the sauce is very very thin! I guess I will always stick with what I'm used to, I feel more comfortable this way. Beans on toast is probably the best thing you can do with beans although I have tried them on baked jacket potatoes and this is also a very nice dish! The cheese goes on the jacket potato and then the beans are placed on top and this helps to melt the cheese that much quicker and it makes for a very nice meal! Andrew

Well, I have to say, beans are well known for that: passing wind! I don't have beans on toast daily but it's definitely a very convenient food to have from time to time. I would much rather cook a spaghetti bolognese as well! Andrew
