Do you like your own name?

Generally, parents give name to their kids, before they discussion with kids themselves. It seems that children can't choose their favorate name by themselves. Sometimes, I don't like my name very much because it is too common. I guess I can find one people who has the same name with me among 1000 persons. I would like to have a special and uncommon name. However, I will not choose to change my name, because I think it is a gift that my parents give to me. How about you, friends? Do you like your own name? Have you considered to change your name?

Hey there. I'm an Indian mix Chinese normal girl and since my dad is INDIAN, i've got an indian name... and i love my name so much... but the only thing lacking in y name is an additional I as neurologically it's said that my name must add the I, then only it will be good for me... So generally my name is perfect and i love it by the way my name is SHARMINI(I) MANAN. So all i gotta do now is add an I to everything which is not official as some how, it will enhance the chi in my name...

Well, I was given quite a unique name but my only issue about it is that they gave me quite a long name. I can barely remember the struggle I probably had during my childhood days when I was being taught how to write my name. :(

Well, my first name is ok. I am named after my grandmother's sister. She is Pauline...I am simply Paula. But then they stuck me with Sue as a middle name and I have to say I hate it! The kids made fun of it all the time, because I have a rather flat nose. They would flatten their own noses and holler "soo eey" I had a couple of friends who also were named Paula, but they had really cool middle names like "Denise","Christine" and Michelle. then there was my friend Lyndsey whose MIDDLE name was Paula! I used to tell my mom when i got old enough to do it. Funny thing was when I got old enough...it didn't matter anymore.

My actual name do not have James. I choose it myself. Oh...it got nothing to do with James Bond...LOL I like my Chinese name very much. The only thing is my last name is sound like a common girl's name. I look it the bright side...it is unique and special!

When I was a young girl, I hated my name. It is not an ordinary name. If an adult yelled my name, I knew I was the one in trouble. I only knew one person throughout my school years that had the same first name that I did. Now that I'm older I've come to appreciate the uniqueness of my name. I guess wisdom does come with age!

my name is very much common.I think in 500 people, there are around 300 who are named "Michelle".my name is not really unique, though it has a wonderful meaning.I will not change my name,no matter how common it is.it is given to me by my parents, and I believe they chose that name because they know it fits me.

Hi Wanghui, Yes....I like my name and I won't change my name in my whole life. My name is given by my parents and I believe they are giving me the best name. Actually my name is very easy to remember. I have 2 type of name : chinese name and christian name(in bahasa indonesia). I don't know how to write my chinese name as I am totally don't have any knowledge in Mandarin words.(for your info, I can speak simple mandarin, but no writing ). When I was pregnant, me and my husband were looking high and low for the best name for my son. We even look it from internet and buy a book about NAME. We prefer to give him a name that is meaningful and easy to remember. After got a few name in the list,at last we make the final decision to give him the name which is similar to one of the Man U soccer player(only the first word of the name is similar, not the surname).

I like my name, simply because hardly anyone has the same name. I think that people should keep the name givin to them because that is like a gift from their parents and they are the ones that brought you into this world.

I love my name. My father was reading a book the night before I was born, and one of the characters in the book had this name. He liked it so much he gave it to me! What I do not like, and never have, are the many different nick-names I have accrued over the years. No matter how hard I try, friends and coworkers always end up using a shortened version of it. Could be worse, I guess. At least they are not calling me bad names

What choice do I have? I am now so used to my name that it does not matter whether I like it or otherwise. Anyway, these days, you can give yourself a Christian name. Use the legal names only in formal matters.
