Who Does What In 30 Minutes!

I have heard of 30 minute meals but 30 minute showers take the cake! Who does that? Will I know one such person but I won't tell who? Knowing Who really isn't important. What is important is being aware of our consumption of water. Waste not want not is how I was raised. Specifically with strong views on wasting water. My father use to say " just because unlimited amounted of water is available to you doesn't mean you should abuse the privilege. Save some for the rest of the world," my father would say! He also use to say, " just because you don’t' see the water bill doesn't mean it doesn't cost us anything"! Drives me crazy, this person taking long showers like that every single day. I mean how dirty can one be every single day especially when they don't do anything much to get dirty? Are you a water waster? Do you run the water when brushing your teeth? Do you take extra long showers and not give it a thought about how much water you are using? I am so water conscious are you?

hi coffeeanyone oh my G why if I stood in a shower for thirty minutes my skin would shrivel up like a prune and wasting water, that is stupid.I never take more than fifteen minutes tops to shampo my hair and clean my body and even moisture it. any more and my bad leg would give out on me. I think its criminal to waste that much water. here in Southern ca we havent had rain in a year and 'it gets much drier they talk of rationing water useage.

I am so glad to hear you are fired up about this. I am like you and think it is criminal to use that much water. You say it takes you no more then 15 minutes to shampoo/moisturize your hair and all the rest. Will me too probably more like 10 minutes most showers as I tend to be in a hurry. This person showers every single day and the shortest shower so far is 20 minutes and the most days there is no more hotwater. Why?

Using water doesn't bother me. I do run the water when brushing my teeth. Once I get it adjusted to the right temp., I hate to turn it off and then on again. My showers last between 15 and 20 minutes. I might stay an extra 5 minutes if my back is bothering me and let the very warm to hot water run on my back. The wet heat does help. We haven't watered our lawn in years. Enough rain here throughout the year to take care of the dry grass. Our plants and shrubs are also fine in front of the house without watering. I do only run the dishwasher about once a week. I wait until it's totally full before using it. Only two of us at home and most often we eat out so we have very few dirty dishes.

We live in Missouri where the humidity is high and we get lots of rain. I love eating out all the time. Have gotten lazy as I get older.

That is what I need a buddy who likes to eat out every chance they get. I probably need to have more income to eat out as much as I would like. Hubby also travels and gets sick of eating out so needless to say I don't do it to often; especially with him. I do have one girl friend who enjoys eating out as much as me but she works and we only see each other a couple of times a month.

You must live in Washington to get that much rain if so we are neighbours. I also try to plant my gardens to not need to much attention to still look good. What I do like about your comment also is that you eat out a lot. I would like to eat out much more then I do. I love not having the clean up from meal making. We are traveling to our time share in Oregon; it rains a lot there too!

I do not take thirty minute showers, I would be a prune. I am pretty conscious of my water use, and I like the bills to stay down, and if I water the veggies I do not water the driveway, sidewalks, or street.

This person doesn't pay the bills and maybe that is why he doesn't think about how much water he is using or the cost. I have let my grass go brown many times even though where I live there aren't to many restrictens when it comes to water use. Even so should we all be conscious of how much water we need to use. Water shortages can happen anywhere anytime. Actually we have had a few dry years where they have talked about the possibility serious water shortages. So who knows. All I know is I would like to have a clear conscience that I was not part of the problem.

I don't know because my home doesn't have a shower. Actually I do have a shower but in these old homes they are in the basement. I don't like having to go downstairs to shower so I just take a bath. Baths probably consume a lot more water but I don't care. I'm the one paying for it.

Yah I sure wouldn't want to be going down to the basement either. Your probably right a bath does use more water; but if that is what you have to keep clean then so be it. I am not against anyone taking a bath when they need it. All I am saying is don't use what you don't need. Think about others whether that be our immediate families or our communities for such a time as fire season. Sure we all can watch the amount of water we use in one way or another. I am not trying to be a stickler about it. Just saying it doesn't take half hour to take a shower so why waste the water?

Hi CoffeeAnyone, I live in an area of water shortage and see the waste of others. Sonetimes I shower for longer than I would like as the pressure is so low it can take ages to get the shampoo out under a trickel. But I am foiled in my want of having many cooling showers on hot nights as there's no water at all then.

See you are a living example of why we should not be wasting water. It is a privilage we have and we should not abuse it. I have a tip for you. Hot days wet some face cloths with water keeping them in a plastic baggie in the refridgerator. At night you can take them out as you need them and place them on your head, back or feet to keep you cool and feeling refreshed.

Thank you for your suggestion but the wet cloths have been tried - unfortunatley during the summer temps of 40 C plus they tend to dry out rather quickly. I keep plenty of bottles of water handy for the situation in both the fridge and the freezer so as well as having supplies of drinking water on hand there is at least something there to wash hands with and pour over the head in emergency.

Hi Coffee Thanks for the smiles your post gave me..I think I know who the culpret is based on a recent post you made..!! In anycase, I also smile because I too am guilty of the dreded "long shower". When I was young and living at home (the first time!) my Dad used to say to my Mom, "Did she drown in there?" I never could see what the heck his problem was UNTIL I had to start paying the water bill in my own home..Wow,,I had no idea how expensive it is!! Now I find myself saying to my room mates, Do you have to run the water while brushing your teeth?? Can't you just turn it on when it is time to spit? or Fill up the sink when washing dishes, dont run the water the whole time (something I always did) or how about, Can't you give both dogs a bath together?? My brother and I had to bath together when we were children...and the worst thing that has come out of my mouth is "If your just peeing, dont flush but every couple of times...Oh My God..I can't believe myself..how annoying I am..but just ast week on Friday when I had to go to city hall and lay down 150.00, I was cursing everyone in the house and asking then, ARE YOU DROWNING IN THERE???? :)

Oh my gosh your post is way to funny. I think of all the things I have wanted to say but don't say. I have said a few of them to my husband privately but not to the culpret as you say. Your comment as brought back so many memories of my dad driving us kids nuts and of course I have carried it with me because I really do believe it is wrong to waste water. Will let's face it paying that water bill is no picknick either. Gee the other day I took a shower, blow dryed my hair, put a little make up on , got dressed to go shopping, switch the laundry in less time it took him to take a shower. Errr

Hi Coffee, I had to respond again because again you have made me laugh!! That comment made by the fitness/obesity person is so funny I can't believe it..I read it and said HUH??? Maybe some people just abritrarily write whatever is on their mind regardless of the question/discussion..What a trip..I loved your suttle comment back to him.. :) I have read a lot of your stuff and think that along with age, we have many things in common, hence I requested to add you as a friend,,despite my fear of rejection!! Goes back to a funny story I'll share with you later..Hope you'll accept even though I am still new and have not reached 100 posts which seems to be the magic number for people to acknowledge that you exist...see my response to a discussion about adding friends rules..That girl that wrote the discussion is very ...interesting,,,for lack of a better word..Anyway, just had to laugh with you at the fitness guru..have a great evening...J
