Now isn't that a shocker!! He has won the Nobel Peace Prize for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." Wow, now can we take it away for his share of the responsibility of making the US a bankrupt nation? This really surprised me this morning, I know the world loves him and all, but well, don't really see where flying all over the world (hey, the world lent him the money to do this!!) and giving speeches really is doing much good at keeping the peace?

The committee have their own political agenda and Obama fits it perfectly. They favor global governance and socialism. This is simply a prize to a man who fits their ideals, not someone who has accomplished anything of global importance.

umm..ya, letters of invite were sent out to the potental candidates last sept. before there were any certainty of his election even. whatever he did to make himself worthy was done outside the presidency I guess....

Well I would have to say this whole things is a joke. What has he done to earn it? NOthing. HE was nominated within the first two weeks of his presidency....did he do anything in the first two weeks to earn it? Nope again. I was shocked when I heard it this morning. Al Gore worked his butt off to earn his. The same for the other past winners. But Obama just gets given one for no reason.

How do you know he was nominated in the first two weeks of his presidency? According to the Nobel rules, the names of the nominees are not disclosed and the records are sealed for fifty years. I also think it's not always the person who works his but off who makes the most difference. When Princess diana hugged that man with AIDS, she did more to remove the stigma of the disease than all the dedicated, hard working AIDS activists on the face of the earth. Maybe, the Nobel committee recognized that President Obama's sincere efforts to bring the US back to the table will further World Peace. Maybe, they are just glad to have us back. If nothing else, his award recognizes the importance of America's role in world diplomacy and I do not see how that can possible be a bad thing.
