it's not good for your phone battery, over charge will shorten your battery life.

I think theres no problem with charging the cell phones overnight. As long as you keep it in a safe area free of any combustible materials, then its okay. Not only did I charge my cell phone overnight but also some of my other chargeable stuffs like digicam, video cam and others. But the best way to charge your cell phones is to plugged it in your computer as most cell phones today are USB based. Mine was charging right now while happy surfing the net.

dear 1anurag1, after the initial charging of the cellphone batteries for 5 to 6 hours, i was told specifically to charge it the next time for only 1 hour or until it is fully charged. overdoing it might do more harm than good to your batteries. thank you for this post. ann

Charging Phone at Night is a Good Idea, but upto certain hours cause charging the phone for the whole night may make phone's battery life shorter because of over charging so see to that you do limited charging, a few hours charging is good rather than keeping the phone charged for a longer time.

I think it will be over charged.as their will not be any current flow between phone and charger when the voltage difference at both side will be zero.

I charge my phone up at night also and I also put it on the charger when I go somewhere in the car. My phone has a automatic shut-off. Once it is charged it will not continue to charge. I believe that was a old myth when cellphones. The newer ones (most of them anyway) have these shutoffs) It has never burned up my battery and mine works fine.

I feel that it is good to charge the phone upto 3 hours and not more than that, as it is not good to overcharge the phone. As far as the time goes, it should not matter when you charge it.

I've heard that you are supposed to let your phone battery to get down low before you charge it. I'm not sure why but that's what I've heard so that's what I do. I let it get down to the last bar or even beeping low battery before I put mine on charge. I put mine on charge at nighttime too because I don't usually get calls at night. I leave mine on charge all night and nothing has ever happened. I don't unplug mine until I get up that next morning.

I do the same thing and very often I forget it on the charger and it stays the whole night. I'm quite sure its not good to leave it there the whole night but when else do you chagre your phone if not then ? I guess the secret is to remember to take it off before you go to sleep - if you can.

I have also heard this too. I dont go out everyday so the days i go out i full charge it the nite before. The rest of the week i just wait till the charge goes way down then i give quick charges the rest of the time. They say the battery last longer when you do it this way.

I do that too, and i didn`t had any problem at all . That`s the time when i usually don`t receive any calls . But there are some of my friends, that will call me at 01 in the night, because they know that i can`t sleep until 01-01:30 . But i`m happy because i have such friends . I have a problem with my cellphone. I usually forget to charge it, and sometimes it`s off because of the battery . But , i try to charge it in the night, when i see the low battery sign .

i'm the same as u. i dont know exactly why. but i feel maybe because it's too long. i usually charge the phone at least 7hours from i going to bed to i getting up. while usually it only needs abt 3hours. so, mabye noon is a much more suitable time.hehe.

I've owned a cell phone for many years now and I have ALWAYS charged it at night, and have never had any problems with doing this. I don't put it on the charger every night tho. I wait until my battery is down to maybe 2 bars and that's when I put it on the charger. It's my understanding that charging a cell before the battery is drained can be bad for the battery, but like I said, I've been charging mine at night when I go to bed after the battery gets low and I've done this for many years and it has never affected my phone or battery at all.

Whole night? you charge your cellphone for whole night? that is not a good idea. You know it can cause fires. I can cause heat on the plug or even on the battery. my advice make your cellphone Lowbat or drained before charging it. Much better if you charge it not for whole but only for 2 hours maximum to conserve energy.

When I buy a new cellphone five months ago, the authorized representative of samsung told me that overcharging could minimized the longevity of the cellular phone. She told me to unplug right away if the charging is finished because if it will be left out and still plug, the battery will be damaged. So it is not advisable to prolong the charging when it is already full battery.

I have heard that it is not good to charge you cell phone every night. It is not good for the battery. I usually charge my cellphone at night when I am not going to use it anymore and have shut it off.

I also like to charge my cellphone at night. When I get up in the morning, the cellphone is fully charged and I could carry it without worrying about the problem of no power that day. It's true that the battery life will shorten if the cellphone is still charging after it has already been fully charged. But I don't think it's a problem. In my view, before the battery life is over, you will have already bought a new cellphone.

It Should be ok as long as you charge your cellphone at off mode, but if you charge your cellphone while it was on then it would fry your battery and shorten the lifetime of you battery. :)
