WE WON!!! Marlboro had a 100 days of Summer Contest where you entered every day for daily prizes. We won small prizes like dollar off coupons, lighters, coffee, bottle openers, that kind of thing. Then about a week ago we got this FedEx. It was a bunch of papers to fill out because my son had won a all expense paid trip to the MARLBORO RANCH in Nebraska!!!!!! I mean ALL the expenses are paid including airfare for two! Plus he will get a $1,000 check when he gets there!!! For a total of $4976 dollars in prizes. The double room and meals for 4 days and three nights. We flipped out. How great. But I have alot of disabilities and afraid I will be disqualified. I doubt the Ranch is handicapped friendly(wheelchair)! What do you think? Opinions please. I am already to be disqualified and let one of his friends go in my place. I know they will be doing things I can't do, like ski. They are doing this in Jan 2010 during SpringBreak. So tell me what should I do?

Congratulations!! I would get ahold of them and find out before just going. That does sound wonderful. I am sure you could get ahold of someone through their website or from a number on the papers.

Congratulations! I would call them to let them know of your disabilities and limitations. I would be very surprised if there aren't activities that you would enjoy participating in. Go and have a great time!

When you hear back from them, they will let you know if they can accomodate you. If not, there is probably an alternate prize, or even a cash award. Don't forget to let us know, ok?

I lived most of my life in Nebraska. Nebraska is a pretty flat state to have any skiing. What part of Nebraska is this ranch? There are a LOT of ranches there too. Buffalo Bill's ranch is found there. It is a big farming state.

Boy that is far to the east from any of the ranch country that I'm familiar with. I really don't know any thing about that area. I lived to the west in the pan handle very close to Wyoming

Don't give up so quickly. find out more about the place. Most places in todays times are handicap friendly. I don't think they can disqualify you for being handicapped.

I hope not. I filled out all the papers and sent them back. They asked for a medical release. My doc said it was OK.

If your doctor gave you a release, and said its ok, then you are in the clear.

Ho cookie, That is so wonderful to win something big like this, but the best thing is to get in touch with them and tell them, there is should something for the disable people other wise that is not fair, get in touch with first before you ask anyone to go instead, good luck, I really hope you can go. Call them first and find out what the deal it. Chances are there will be plenty of activities you can still do. My sister always gets stuff from Marlboro too. I tell her it's a good thing she gets it all now because when she's dying of lung cancer they're not going to give her anything!

First let me congratulate your son on his great win. I would call the ranch and ask if they were equipped with amenities for the disabled. If not then I would not go and let my son choose one of his friends to accompany him.

if its a public facility, it should be accessible, so even if you can't ski and stuff, you could sit around the lobby and enjoy the food and the like - I would think Spring Break would be in March not January... I would try to go and only if you can't then let him take a friend - if he really wants you to go - I personally, loved to travel with my mom, but most kids don't

you could still take in the scenery and hang out with whoever comes with you. i would go just for the trip itself:) if the ranch is more than one floor and not accessable, you might ask for a ground floor room.

Skiing in Nebraska? I thought Nebraska was totally flat and full of corn fields! LOL You should go. Places like that must accommodate the handicapped. It's a law. Even if they don't have ramps, they should have people there to get your wheelchair up or down any stairs they may have. Every place open to the public MUST be wheelchair accessible. Don't worry about it and just go have fun. That is an awesome prize! Congratulations on winning such an incredible trip! Go... have fun! Enjoy the trip with your son.

You need to check with the company about the place being handicapped friendly. Just because you are in a wheelchair should not disqualifiy you from go on the trip.

As far as I know, due to the Americans with Disabilities Act, all public places must be accessible. I don't know if that ranch is considered private or public. But if the general public can visit or is invited I would think it would have to comply. Go and enjoy the sights, if nothing else.

Well done to your son. I am delighted that he has won the contest. My toddler son is disabled and I wouldn't want him to miss out on an opportunity like that. I think that you should not give up. You might be able to visit the ranch. People that are in a wheelchair deserve to travel easily. My toddler son rides in his pushchair and he can crawl around. When he is older he will go into a wheelchair. Good luck.

First, Congratulations. I didn't win the 100 days of Summer contest, but I will be going to the ranch. I received an invitation and submitted my first round of paperwork a few weeks ago. I just want to help you out a little. You will not be going to a ranch in Nebraska. The information you received is from D.L. Blair sent from Nebraska. They handle all of the paperwork and verifications for Marlboro. You will actually be going to Montana to the Crazy Mountain Ranch. This website www.achillies.com/marlborostuff will fill you in on all you need to know. There are more activities than skiing, you can read all about it there. Hope you have a great time!!!
