Who gives in to Political Correctness?

Whether we are ready for it or not, the retail industy will penetrate our souls with the holiday season which almost turns us into zombies for a few months. This question/discussion is specifically about Christmas. Since we do have the option to "hide behind our monitors" so-to-speak, let's keep it real please! How many people will still say "MERRY CHRISTMAS" to others this year? Regardless of what their employer says, or what politics say, etc... On the flip side, how many of you are offended by it and why?

MERRY CHRISTMAS is all I know I would not bow down to the PC lobby at all especially at work. It was how I was raised so in a way it is them that are offending me and my upbringing

I'm curious...is it your upbringin that committs you to this, or are there other reasons? Such as Christianity or religious views about it?

Christmas is Christmas. It is what I know and what my parents celebrated, so to me it is normal. I do respect everyone's beliefs though. I just kind of think the PC lobby has got way out of hand and causes more problems than it solves.

As one of my favorite comedians...Walter, a puppet on a show with Jeff Dunham says, WTH is happy holidays??? It's freaking MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! While I'm not (yet) as salty and gritty as ol' Walter, I completely agree with him. The mainstream media has tried to take Christ out of the holiday by saying happy holidays instead of Christmas. Political correctness, in their attempt to offend no one, also takes this viewpoint. My opinion? Political correctness can correct itself out of my life... I don't swear much at all, but this is one subject of tolerance that just plain pisses me off! Why should I try to not offend someone by not saying Christmas? I shouldn't, so I'm going to say Merry Christmas as many times as I can this year, JUST to piss off those politically correct jackasses who just want to please people. I'm going to honor and celebrate my Lord's birth, so I don't give a hoot what other people think... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! peace on earth, and goodwill toward men...Emmanuel is come to us... Hope you all have a great Christmas holiday season this year and remember the REAL reason for the season! Dive Deep!

I love it. We should all make a pact to say "Merry Christmas!" to someone at least once a day from December 1 to December 25.

I say Merry Christmas. Jewish friends tell me "Happy Hanuka." Why not? It's stupid, petty and immature to be offended by a greeting that wishes one well, regardless of one's own religious beliefs.

beautiful brooke don't spoil my christmas spirit, and yes I often have wished a Merry Christmas to my friends and people I met, and have been wished a Merry Christmas by strangers even.what is so darned wrong with that? I do not give a flying damn about political correctness or people's prunes and prisms about their various religions. Christ loved people, so whats wrong with us spreading some love around at Christmas time? Offended? NO why should I be? I know what I believe in and its my own business, and I let others believe or not believe, that is their business. You sound already jaded but for one thing I do not even start to think about Christmas til Dec.1st. retailers be damned.

Hatley, how do I sound "jaded"? I like to ask questions is a way that doesn't display my own personal view on the subject until after some replies have come in. Interesting how the few replies have been straight forward in their regard to "Merry Christmas". Personaly as a devout Christian, I would have it no other way. I say it in the post office (where state employees are not aloud to). I say it in large retail stores (again...where employees aren't aloud to ) And quite frankly I don't understand why people that work in these businesses give in to this particular request of their employer. No one will ever tell me not to say. If there is no "Christ" in Christmas, then what is it? And btw....can anyone tell me what the heck "X-Mas" is?

I do wish people a merry christmas. I celebrate it - so do most people around me. So why shouldn't we wish it to each other. Some of my colleagues are Sikh - even they buy us Christmas cards. We all have the bank holidays and the time off. It doesn't matter if we believe in it or not. So I don't think there is anything wrong with it. And I'd be surprised if people are seriously offended by a nice meant wish.
