what happened. Even when they are completely honest about what they saw, the stories can often be vastly different. Not just minor differences because of different points of view. Even when we write about a situation in our own lives, the details are often skewed over time. All of us who were alive during Neal Armstrong's "small step" say we remember it in vivid detail, but when asked where they saw it on tv, or the other events surrounding it, they are often wrong. Kids who were school students often talk talk about how their teacher had a tv in the room so they could watch it live. Since we can't even agree on tangible events we watched personally, should it surprise anyone that there are so many different religions and denominations in the world? Even among people whose spiritual beliefs are based on the same historic documents or people?

Intersting approach, yet I think is just not the correct explanation for so divided religion-based-on-same-documents-or-people All is about that computer game, Need for Power ..

Very good points!! Kind of makes you wonder how so many can insist they are right. Once we memorize things then we are so proud of ourselves that it is no longer a matter of truth. It becomes a matter of never wanting to be wrong.

That's a great point! It's one I think of when someone comes along and says the gospel accounts (testimonies) cannot be authentic because they disagree on some details and descriptions.. Which claim I think of as quite funny, really, considering how, as you've posted, witnesses aLways disagree.. and what are we prone to think if they don't disagree in any details?

I see what you are trying to explain here but these are my thoughts concerning the Bible. It was inspried by the holy spirt and that is where the difference is for me as a believer. I know that some people like to argue about this stuff but I am not one of them. I know in my own life what has occured and for someone to come to me and say no it's this way I just can't agree. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

That is because we are wicked men decieved by our wicked hearts and the truth is not in us. Every thing we say has a lie of some sort attached to it to suite our need and to make us appear heroic or good or righteous. We need the saviour Jesus Christ who is life and has no sin and cannot tell a lie. Once we have been born of his spirit we will be trustable and true. Don't believe me? Try leaving your valuables with a real Christian who is truly saved and you can tell loves God. Then try leaving them with a friend who is not saved and has not that hope. Chances are the other friend may just take your valuable depending upon how desperate they feel they need it. I mean it also depends on how real of a friend they are. Try dropping your wallet around a complete stranger now who you know not and Loves God and spreads his word and is devout and see if he is not honest. Depending on if he is really saved or not you'll find he will give you your wallet. In fact he will go to all ends to make sure he does not steal because the fear of God would be upon him. Try doing that around a stranger who has not the fear of God. Tell me what you find out. God had his word in his bible and his truth has not changed and has not lied throughout his 66 books over the stretches of time his word has remained through the men of God who have inscribed this of course all men have lied and stolen and have sinned and are not trustable until they have the pure perfect God who is truthful and honest living inside of them and it only comes when they have been born again. When they have realized their wicked sinful condition before a just and Holy God who will judge them until he supernaturally changes them then their stories may vary but the truth will come out. 10 people all sinners will have lies and stories inside because they have not the truth. Then we have the aspect of visual conception which is differant for every man but the divine laws of God the sinful state of man is not a visual conception. Stop decieving others in relating visual conception to Spiritual indepth. Every man is sinned not one is righteous and every religion justifies man but God's word and the bible condemns men. That is why the savior sets us free that is why we need to repent of our sins and trust in Jesus to save us and that is why we need to be born again. If you do not come to this it is because your wicked and sinful condition prevents you from surrendering to God and his word. If you will study the facts and learn your whole life through though it will show you God you will not believe because it is the Holy Spirit of God which will draw you to salvation which will make you whole and which will let you know you have been set free and this has not changed. Hundreds of years thousands of years later God's word is still exposing lies God is not a liar and man is and that is the differance.

So if God tells me I'm going to heaven, but you tell me I'm not... which should I believe?

A lot of words where a few would have sufficed. In fact, a few would have actually answered the question. The question was, if God tells me (A Mormon) that I'm going to heaven, but you don't think so. Who should I believe?

Wow, ChristisRisen...I didn't know you had to be a Christian to return someone's wallet. I DO NOT steal...In fact, I make sure that if I see the lady at the store give me too much change - even a nickel - I return it. I believe in treating others the way I would like to be treated. I would NEVER steal from someone..I have had things stolen from me and it hurts...But yet, I am not a Christian - so I guess I really am a thief and I just don't know it - according to you of course ;)

That's right. That's how it happens. It is called fragmentation of reality and this is due to how the human mind is trained to work for thousands of years. Thousands of years because it is the old story of parents educating ( I'd say programing) the kids about reality perception as they were educated (programed) by their parents and so on. And also due to our limited 5 senses. Reality is perceived as separate events with a settled duration in time and the informations received by the brain are just bits of the whole event. Actually, what happens is 'knowing about' Neil Armstrong's small step and not 'knowing' the first step. Deprograming and then reprograming help decreasing the illusion.

So who should raise kids if not the parents?

Nobody else. Parents! This is the natural order, the kids are raised by their parents, then go to school, etc, etc. What I wanted to suggest is an ideal situation: the fact that parents should realize one day, their mind is programed in many features that were never questioned. We just took certain information from our parents, or educators, or teachers, or friends, etc. And consequently we are transmitting our programing to our kids, without being aware of this. That was what I said, we need to become aware first and reality fragmentation will be decreased, if we reprogram ourselves. The benefit will not be so important for lots of us. But it will be tremendously helpful for the new generation. All we have to do is to question anything. As simple as that.

You are right and have certainly pointed out something about perception. Each person perceive things differently simply because we see things at different angles and of course interpret things based on our own vision. Obviously each of us have different attitudes and this will also affect a lot of things.
