What's the most extreme thing you did for vanity's sake?

I really can't think of the most extreme thing I have done because for me "extreme" would invole a lot of money and I am not the type who'd spend a lot just for the sake of vanity. But, that does not mean I am not vain..I actually think I am.hehehe. The problem though is that I ask other people to spend for me..lol..There was the time when I asked my sister to buy a treadmill and I told her she needed it when in fact I wanted it for myself (now I got a treadmill for free hehe).. I also get my beauty products from her, I share with her everything she buys. Having said that, maybe the most extreme thing I did (and still doing) is forgetting my pride just so I can stay pretty and in shape. lol You? What have you done for vanity and beauty's sake?

When I was younger I would wear shoes that hurt my feet and belts that were too tight. Neither one of those things is really healthy.

I remember my college days. SInce we had no uniform, we go to school with casual clothes and I dont want to wear the same clothes over and over again or at least in 2 weeks. What I did was plan all my clothes every single day. I never want people to notice that I have worn the same shirt or dress already..that was all I cared in college haha

Well I think the most extreme thing I did for beauty was to take growth balls. Well I am on the short side and when you are in high school looks always matter. So I saved around 200 bucks from my allowance and bought those growth balls from this home tv shopping channel. I should have known that it doesn't work. Just a waste of hard saved allowance. Well nowadays I am very much confortable with mmyself.

lol I remember those days hehhe..I used to ask my father to buy me growth pills but eventually I stopped because I think nothing's happening..I haven't taken anything for about 2-4 years already and it's not because I have grown out of getting taller but actually because I am still on the process of researching for the best one out there. WHen I find it, i'll be sure to buy it haha..

calai618 I guess if we are woman at all we all do some things for vanity, I as a senior citizen do put on lipstick and eyeshadow every day just so I do look well kept, not really vain just want to look my best as I feel better when I look my best. I think if we did not care about our looks,we would be in a state of deep depression.

That's a very good point. We do most of these stuff not beccause we are vain but we just want to be presentable. We just want to show that we love and take care of our selves.

LOL, well I don't really wish to take extreme measures for vanity's sake. To me, those are things like cosmetic procedures and surgeries. I did color my hair a few times and didn't like the results, so I'm just leaving it be! Extreme for me is wearing a push-up bra and some makeup lol. Karen

Believe it or not, I haven't colored my hair eversince! It's not because I didn't want it but because my mom kept on scaring me that I'd just ruin my natural hair..I am now not bothered with not coloring my hair.. I am not interested about it anymore..

I think the most extreme I've done aside from buying colored contact lenses, would be drinking diet pills? Hahaha. I've had weight problems ever since I was in late elementary, and choosing the easy way out was really beckoning me. But I still love eating, and I know that discipline is the biggest key.

Hey! I didn't say I started when I was still a kid. I started taking them just 2 years ago, when I was in 2nd year college. Extreme, I know.

Well, since Vanity and beauty has never really been an issue for me since I do not wear makeup, and am happily married, I would never say that I have had an issue with this one as well. I know that it can be a hard thing in dealing with your looks, etc. but for me I just do what I can, and know I am always trying to look my best as well. If I was to spend money on anything it would be to get my hair permed, and that would be something special for sure.

Exercise every single day (still do), make sure I am extremely clean (OCD), color my hair, and shaved almost all of the hair off my of my body (I am on anabolic steroids for my Asthma, and so I generally shave off hair that is growing where is should not be growing). I hate having Asthma, allergies, and four different skin conditions. You try not to worry about your appearance because you need to focus more on survival, but you do anyway. I have so many beauty products and things to make me look beautiful, it's pathetic.

I have not ever done anything too extreme but I did buy myself a sun tanning lamp when I was about eighteen and I attempted to get a tan with it without leaving the house. It had a pair of special goggles that should be worn whenever using the sun lamp and there is a certain distance one should keep from the lamp too. Well, being young and silly I did not bother following the instructions that clearly stated both of those things so to cut a long story short, guess who ended up in the ER with permanent damage to the eyes and a very big burn on the leg that ended up getting infected? That’s right; me and I never did a tan out of it!

I don't like asking people for things that is just me. If I don't have the money to get it them I am out of luck until I get the money. Now I do have nice makeup mineral make I use a lot and its nice on the skin. And I have tons of other makeup to. I have a big bag full like a gym bag. The only time I have ever asked for help for anything is when I need my medication other then that I don't ask. I do have dreams of owning other things but not until I get the money to own them or someone found out and got it for me for Christmas.

The most "extreme" thing I do - and I honestly don't consider it to be 'extreme', but others might.. is going tanning. I like how I look with a little glow to me, a little darkness. This is super popular where I live, so it's not taboo (as it may be in other countries). I like how I look when I'm tan, and therefore have a better sense of self-confidence. Plus, it also helps my acne and eczema. So, it's both "vain" and utilitarian.

I think we all have our vanities. We just differ in the extent of it. Well, I'm not much of the heavy make up type of girl but I would have to say, the most extreme would be my tattoos. I work out, too, but I think my tattoos top that off.

I'll be honest when I was a teen a had horrible acne, and my girl friend convinced me to use her make up to cover it up.

WOW. Be careful with this cause using a person to get what you want can ruin a good realtionship. I don't do anything extreme cause I don't have anyone who is that close to me so I envy you for being able to be bold to be able to stay in shape. I guess determination goes above all when your trying to keep in shape and healthy. Great dicussion. Thanks for sharing.
