Who is bad? Money or the People?

A lot of conflicts had happen and a lot of lives had been sacrificed just for the sake of wealth/money/richness. A lot of people say that money is evil because it drives a person to be evil, but... is money really evil? I mean money is only a paper or a coin that is used for trading. So is money really evil or is it the peoples craving for lust, power, pride, richness and etc. that made people more hungry of money? The higher the hunger of money to people the higher the chance of doing bad things. So in your opinion, what do you think?

money is not evil, People are not evil either, it's greed that's evil. Life in this world has no certainty so it makes people want money to prepare for any eventualities because it's a fact that money is involved in anything that we do. Money is power and power is addicting. So to feed for that addiction, people would want more money and the cycle continues. Bottom line is, without greed people would be happy and contented for what they have. Cheers!

well, yeah i agree with you that greed is evil but only considered when a person get's involved with it and do it with his or her knowledge . money can be used for good if the person chooses to do so, because if they prefer keeping on their own and getting more from others, that is greed. no doubt about it

Money is neutral to everything man does to it. Money won't do you any harm or evil if you yourself won't decide to do it. We humans are the ones that decides what to make out of it. We can use it for good and we can use it for bad things too. Money won't side with any of the two that is why I categorize it as a neutral thing.

If we are not greedy to acquire more money I think this world is peaceful. We need money to survive in this world sometimes people are been a slave of money. Money is not the cause of evil but us because we like to be rich and powerful that's why even if what we are doing is not right and even if the people around us are suffering.

money is created by man so it is man's idea that made it evil itself. money is just paper and metal but the way how man look at it makes it evil. it's how man's own perception what money is that makes it bad. so if someone sees it in a different way then it would not be evil to that person..it's how much we wanted and use it that matters..

human is basically evil, that's why we got various religions, belief, rules and laws imposed at us, i mean take a look at primordial time at Cain and Abel, they kill one another over vegetables offering and woman, and it has nothing to do with money.

Its not money its people. Money is an inanimate non living object therefore doesn't have the ability to do evil acts or behave badly. Only people have that.

I believe that money is just a necessity. the notion that money can be good or evil depends on how the person use the money. Or how the person how can be obessive with money, it's no joke when some one get blinded to money because most people end up doing bad things to other like crimes or cheating to another. Just like those people who are cheating in business that got arrested in wall street few weeks ago, they were getting money illegally and that's bad.
So, in regarding to the discussion, i think the bad here is the people who used money for the wrong reasons and doesn't benefit others but him/herself. those people are called greedy i think, so don't get blinded by money. there are things important than just having so much money in the world. you can't bring it when you die

For me, money is a representation of the possible things that man can acquire... Money changes man's view about life. Whether we like or not we often choose to have millions of wealth than to have no money at all. But money was never been bad. It is how people treat wealth or money in their lives. Money was not evil at all, it is how people spend it..it is always about one's intention and a person perception in having so much wealth. We humans are making it evil for as we all know it is just a piece of paper and a metal coin that cannot make decisions.. but we do.

neither the money mor the people are bad . they are the bad things that are done with them . if the money is spend for a good cause then it is good if not then bad . so how can money be called bad ?? same goes for people too . only the circumsatnces are good or bad . bad circumstances make people use money for bad reasons and make them bad .....and vice versa ....

Money is not evil, it is the importance man has put on money that makes it evil. I think it depends on the situation. A man with money filled with greed and scratches eyes out to get more is evil, while a man without money in need to feed his family and say steals it is not as evil in my eyes. It is said that as the human race we have put the importance of money over human life or the quality of life. It is a human shame that people are dieing every day because they do not have the money for medical treatment. How can we be so heartless.

People are the ones who created money therefore if human will tell that money makes human evil, then human is the root of evil. Just like what I've said, a money is a paper, and a human is a high form of living thing that can think.. They do even have their own will.

People is not evil,neither is money.
When a person is just a baby,what he want is just eating and drinking.And money,is just something we can use to change goods we need. So,why should we say they are evil?
But the society is complicated. Every person is different. They have different requirements,different ideas of life, and they live in different level of the society.So,things happens....
I know a real story of a friend. He was born in a small village of a small city in China. The whole incoming of their family is only RMB1,000 a year. He should pay RMB5,000 to the school every year,and he must eat ,must drink~but,where is the money? His classmates can have good dinners, buy new mobiles, buy fashoin cloths and etc,.but he can not~As i know, his eager of money is very strong!
He studies very hard, he try to have an intern offer to earn extra money~I know he did something illegal to make money,but is he evil? I have no idea of that~
Some people take advantages of their position to make money.Is that evil? maybe. But why they want to do illege activities? and why they can do these things? maybe the society is not fair~maybe the system is not perfect~maybe they are evil? it's hard to say!

Very well explained my friend! You are right it's hard to say who or what is evil, there is no such perfect things in this world! There are so many questions that we still cannot answer because of the lacking of intelligence, we are only human we are not as intelligence as God! We cannot say someone that he/she is evil cause we also commit mistakes and therefore we do not also wanted to be called as evil. Money in that case is not evil because they are only materials that we people are using. We cannot tell it is evil because it is only a paper or a coin, then who created it? Us! But... we cannot also tell that Humans are evil because we are not born evil! You are right again! We cannot say that man are evil because we do not want others to tell that we are evil nor we tell our selves we are evil! In the first place can anybody here tell him/herself that they are born evil? is it how we get educated from this world we are living! It is how this world or our environment will nourish us! But of course we cannot say that we people are made to perfection therefore we are not evil because of the ability to choose what is right and what is wrong! So what if i do not have money? Go get work in a proper manner! So what if i do not have cellphones? I can still live! still at the end people will loose in this comparison because just like what i have said, we have the ability to choose and do between what is right and what is wrong! See the point here is that! Why does he want cellphones and other things if we cannot afford it! Maybe now we cant but someday we will if we will really work hard and work clean! But why? It is because of the greed and the dissatisfaction of human beings. Anyway thank you so much for this very intelligent response and also thank you for that life sharing. Two thumbs up!

A little agree your point of "his greed and dissatisfacton",but not quite agree.If all your friends have cellphones but you don't have, it not only means you are poor,but also means you will lose a lot of friends!One reason is you don't have the same topic of mobilephone with them, another very important reason is they cannot contact with you~maybe you would say, if they want to make friends with you ,they will not mind whether you have a phone. But if i want to contact with some friend, and he don't have the phone, maybe i will give up the idea becaust it's too difficult to find him~~~

rjvb it is the love of money to the point of going bananas over it that is the
evil. we need money to live but we should not live to make ,money. just like we should eat to live, not live to eat. proportions in all things, moderation, that is the key to being healthy and happy and not too broke.

money is a good slave but a bad master. money in itself is not bad but it is those people who are not able to control themselves and often tend to misuse money. it is indeed greed that drives people to misuse money. also people who suddenly become rich and have not worked hard for it always tend to go the wrong way.

Money didn't grow horns and a pitchfork. The greed and want for money in people is bad. I don't think that the more money one has, the more likely he or she is going to do bad things. It depends on the person. I know some pretty wealthy people who are kind and generous. Not all people with money are horrible.

Money is not the problem people are the problem. It is what the money represents that causes so many issues. Some people lust for power and prestige which can be bought with money. Some people lust for cars and homes and other signs of wealth. They need to money to satisfy those desires. Money is a means for obtaining things they want. In the quest some people will lie, steal, borrow, beg and even kill to obtain it. People are evil, money is an inanimate object and cannot be good or evil in and by itself.

With due respect to your believes but the fact remains you can never have anything you abuse.Money is the most abused substance on the earth yet it seems that life itself revolves round it.
In itself money is not evil but man in his corruption can use money for a less nobler ventures.Its man not money that is the toruble
