Is driving a right or a privilege?

I believe that driving is a privilege not a right. There are many people on the road that do not need to be driving. They cannot keep up with the flow of traffic. They get in the fast lanes and drive below the posted speed limit. They get right beside the transfer trucks and just ride there - won't pass and won't get behind them. Our state doesn't even give people a road test - you just pass this obstacle course in the parking lot. Who care is you can parallel park if you can't drive on the freeway without causing traffic to back up? So what do you think?

A privilege for sure. Not everyone should drive, I think you should have to prove that you can drive before you are given a license to drive. There are a lot of people who drive very unsafely or very annoyingly and I think holding up traffic should be just as illegal as speeding if you can't keep up on the highway then don't get on the highway. It should also be illegal to drive under the speed limit. Our state does require a driving test, and I am happy to say that they have increased the amount of hours teenagers must drive with their parents or an instructor before they can attempt to get their drivers lisence, which I think is a really good idea.

Driving is a privilege and as long as you can demonstrate that you can handle the car in the various situations you should retain the privilege.

I agree. I can't parallel park that great and i even hate to get out on the freeway. I am like my late uncle who if he couldn't find a back street he didn't need to go. I think they should put pre-drivers in one of those similation booths and have several different scenarios and see they respond to them.

..hi.. well, for me, it is more of a privilege.. those who knew how to drive have the privilege to drive.. but they have to be governed by rules and regulations of course.. And everybody has the right to learn how to drive.. well, some drivers can avail a license without undergoing the actual and paper exams because they have money.. I've witnessed that in our country.. and when you evaluate the way they drive, most of them don't observe traffic rules.. this is because they lack education or proper orientation.. If the authorities don't accept money as payment for licenses, drivers should have undergone proper education and orientation regarding traffic and driving rules to avoid accidents.. This is also a sad story behind individuals wanting to drive..
