If you suspected you were going to lose your job in 1 month what would you do?

Obviously if you knew that losing your job in a month is a good possibiliy you would have to start taking some actions with your finances. What kind of plan of action would you put in to place?

Keeping in mind that they say it is taking about 8 months to find a new job these days what else would you do?

I would stop paying for anything that wasn't a necessity, like Netflix and Sirius radio. I would try to find lower prices for my car insurance and home owner's insurance. I would try to put as much in savings, in case that day did come. I would also quit going out to eat, going to movies, and any other fun stuff like that! I would also start looking for another job.

I would stop spending money immediately and start putting money away. I would also make sure not to run any unnecessary utilities. I would cut down on my driving, I would only buy things that were absalutely essential. I would take a serious look at our finances and see where we could pear down. The minute the job was lost I would cancel cable or at least try to get a better price. I would also start shopping around for cheap insurance.

Immediately cut out any unneeded bills. Goodbye cable, goodbye netflix. EVERYTHING would be cut to the bare minimum, and I'd be puting everything into savings. At the same time I'd be looking for another job. That way I might have one lined up to go to when the one falls out from under me, or maybe even be able to quit the job I feel is risky and move to safer ground.
