What is your handiest gadget for use in the kitchen?

I have many kitchen gadgets and find it hard to decide which is my absolute favourite but at the end of the day I must say that it is a little stand by itself timer. It never lets me down. I have a timer on various things including the cooker but this one you can hear very loud and sharply, it never fails to ting and it is always in good time.

My kitchen shears are the most useful kitchen gadget I own. Sure I like many of the others but those shears I use every day. Seems food packaging has gotten ridiculous these days. It says on the package, "tear here" but never does. That is so aggravating

That is so true! I just replied something similar. I especially hate those packages of cheese or other things with "zippers" but you have to tear away plastic first and it rarely tears easily. Then you're left with a bunch of plastic sticking up over the zipper unless you cut it away.

There are lot of things that comes handy for me like scissors, seive and the list goes on...but the very best would be my Garlic press. I use garlc in most of my receipes as possible and putting the grinded garlic is best. It is easy to clean and less time consumng than cutting the garlic nto small pieces. It is a small one I bought from Dollar store but that is one gadget that I felt was the most useful.

Great question! I drink a lot of tea throughout the day so I use my coffee maker to make a full pot and then reheat it a cup at a time in the microwave. Aside from that, I'd say my kitchen scissors and those rubber grippers that help you open a stubborn jar lid.

I love my electric mixer. I use it every chance I get. It is a lot of fun and I get to make things such as cookies and cakes. I also make bread. I would go crazy if I did not have my electric mixer. I also love my slow cooker (crock pot) and use it a lot when in the winter time. I make a lot of soups and tonight I made chili.

I don't know if you would actually call it a gadget, but I use by crock pot/slow cooker almost every day. I can put all my ingredients in it in the morning and by supper I always have a tender and delicious meal. When I go grocery shopping, I always make sure to buy all my favorite ingredients that I add to the meat and vegetables to make the taste different all the time. I've found that I can cook some of the same meals that my mom would simmer all day on top of the stove and make them in the crock pot and they taste the same with very little work. My kitchen shears would be my second favorite gadget. I use them every single day. I bought them from one of those "kitchen parties" and never realized how handy they would be until I started using them. They can also be washed easily to keep them clean without losing their sharp edge.

That would be my scissors! Most "easy open" packages are NOT! Scissors come in VERY handy and I have a pair by my stove and another on the other side of my kitchen. I also keep a pair in nearly every room of my house. I also use my scissors to trim fat off of meat, they give me much more control that a knife.

My favourite gadget would be the battery-operated Culinaire tin opener! It is miles better than the old manual thingy we used to have. Just place it on the tin, press the large button on the top, it then spins round (cutting as it goes) and stops all by itself. Because it has a magnet underneath I can release the sliced top of the can away from it and not cut myself because it has smooth edges. It won't cut around tins that aren't round but for the moggie's tuna it's been an invaluable tool and we wouldn't be without it! My tiered steamer from M & S comes a close second as it has saved on gas bills.
