Please give us a recipee from your region or country! That way we would create a thread with a recipee from everyone's country, then we will have a list of different colours and flavours from across the world. :) I think it would be quite a nice idea, don't you think?

Hi ravend, I shall share a simple recipe which only involves one pan so that it can be cooked globally. Greek saganaki, wonderful name, is a very simple dish of fried cheese. As no one will be able to find the cheese used outside of Greece then use Haloumi cheese which works just as well. Simply slice the cheese to about the thickness of your finger, dust in flour and fry in hot olive oil until browned. Serve with a slice of lemon. This is an apperitser dish which usually goes in the centre of the table.

It sounds lovely!!And what is the cheese that is actually meant to be used? Over here I manage to get greek Kefalotyri and Feta... but not Halloumi.:)How about those two?:)

Definitely not those two. I haven't cooked it at home in years but when I did I just used to ask for saganaki cheese at the deli counter, I tend to have it in the tavernas. My cookbook says feta but that is only used in prawn saganaki when it is broken up in the sauce, for actual saganaki I must try and remember to ask at the cafenion tomorrow.

That is a neat idea. I cant think of any right now that I would want to givethough. I will check your discussion though to see how others responded. I think you could get some good things to eat that way.
