What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

Most all of my husbands family now lives out of state so for the past few years we have been having thanksgiving with my mom and her boyfriend. We used to have it here and would have my husbands mother, her boyfriend and his sisters family in but then they moved so I decided that we would just let my mom do all the cooking. We are going to be going out there again this year. So where are you going and what are your plans for this Thanksgiving?

We'll be staying at home, and most likely will not have company. Some years my husband's parents come over, they actually just tell us they'll be over. This year they aren't bothering to invite themselves, and I'm perfectly happy not inviting them, lol. So it'll just be us.

I won't go out of my way to invite them but I won't say no if they ask to come over. I have in past years, just because I can only handle so much of them at a time. Every so often they do something that just seriously rubs me the wrong way, and I get really angry at them. A few days ago my MIL did something like that. It wasn't anything serious, but just enough to annoy me to a point where I need to go a few weeks without them around to get over it, lol.

I get the feeling like there is a bit of anger in that response towards the in laws LOL I feel there is nothing wrong with having turkey day with just yourself, spouse and children. I would do the same but my mom takes it upon herself to just assume we are going out there and I have yet to grow a backbone and tell her no so I just suck it up, do it and then come home. Have a great Thanksgiving katsmeow and thanks for the response

Hi froggieslover, we people here don't celebrate Thanksgiving Day. I come to know this unique day while browsing online three weeks back. I learned this meaningful day on a free greeting cards sending site. Yeah, it falls on 26th of November. And I know as well people usually celebrate thanksgiving on the month of Nov. Since there are lots of attractive and well designed thanksgiving cards available there. I then pick those with desirable greeting words and melodious music and send them to my loved ones and friends. Besides pleasing them I want them to know there is such a wonderful thanksgiving festival. I plan to eat out with my loved ones on the coming Thursday to this unique thanksgiving day Happy Thanksgiving

If you don't mind me asking do you celebrate anything close to what we call Thanksgiving where your from? To us it is a holiday celebrating the pilgrims and indians coming together and also for things that we are thankful for. The best part about Thanksgving is all the good food and getting so full that you just want to fall asleep. Another tradition that a bunch of families do is watch the macy's day parade and then football in the afternoon. Thanks for your response lkbooi

hi froggieslover since we lost our apartment and my son lost his job a year ago and is still jobless we will celebrate thanksgiving tomorrow with a party and my son is coming as my guest.we are the only family we have and this horrid economy split us up. I am here at Gold crest a retirement center and he is in gov.sponsored apartment with three other men all looking for work yet. we are homeless so we have to be where we are for now.we will have all the traditional foods that people eat on thanksgiving and there will be music too.

Now that it is two o'clock on Thanksgiving day, we finally know what we are going to be doing with our holiday. Our oldest child just left about an hour ago with her paternal grandmother to spend the day and night with them. Then, my husband, son and myself might stop over at his grandmother's house for a little bit so he can see some of his cousins and then we will be going over to my mother's house to have Thanksgiving dinner with them. It has been a long time since we've had Thanksgiving dinner with my mother.

This year my family and i are having thanksgiving at my aunts house. Family from out of state and from all over the state are coming for it. The plan is that we get there in the afternoon and the women prepare the dinner while the children go play games or something and the men usually hang out or watch tv together. The most important part is the dinner because that's when we all really talk and catch up.

We have family coming for dinner and then my older daughter and I are taking off for San Francisco to see friends who will be staying there. My mom used to do all the cooking too, but that's a long time ago now. I miss those days...

Happy Thanksgiving. My family and I are all getting together at my niece's house. We are all chipping in with the dinner menu, so that it will not be a strain on just one person. After that will we will all just sit around and chill because of the economy things are going to be a little tight this year. We are not complaining just giving all the thanks and glory to God. Be Blessed.

Sounds like a good time, I am glad to hear that you are like us to where we split the food that way one person isn't getting over worked or paying out too much.. we are the same way when we are done eating we just sit around and either play some cards or just watch football...Have a great Thanksgiving chevee and thanks for your response

Hi Froggielover I'm heading down to my brothers house with my husband and 3 kids I will be making fresh bread ,mashed potatoes, and cabbage and carrots for Thanksgiving dinner I got off kinda easy this year , Thanksgiving was at my house last year its always more work when your hosting But I will be hosting Christmas this year so I will have to prepare a couple of more things which is OK because with my family we all usually bring a dish we are assigned to bring which helps the host out a lot it cuts down on the amount of cooking needed.

I am the same as you, I am making the two pies and deviled eggs. I have decided to make a cheesecake with the pumpkin pies this year. I usually do a pumpkin and another like an apple or blueberry but I also really enjoy cheesecake so I decided that with some strawberry glaze would be nice for a change. I will be having Christmas here, which I have done the last few years or so, it makes it a lot easier on me with the two kids because then they get to stay here and enjoy their new toys and we don't have to worry about traveling. I just tell people that they can bring a desert if they want because I usually have everything else taken care of and with my family there is never enough deserts LOL Thanks for your response cherryd
