McDonald's Chicken McNugget Sold On Ebay Nov.1st.

A McDonald's Chicken McNugget (shaped like America) was sold on Ebay earlier this month for $150.00 USD. Now I ask you people .. have we gone to far with this? Are we so needy as humans that we will literally purchase any object resembling our wants, needs, figures of religion or even our fantasies? I have seen more pieces of toast that resemble Jesus selling online these last couple years than I care too, and it is becoming a trend of sorts to purchase these 'likeness' objects. If you were financially stable enough to compulsively purchase a random object that accidentally resembled something you fancied, would you but it? Tree - Tree lying in the lap of sea, beautiful scenery of nature.
I think we are going to far in this regard. We are just spending money for no good reason. We don't value our money in a proper way, that is why we are in a financial crisis like this. Why someone spend $150.00 to buy a chicken nugget; after all chicken nugget is chicken nugget it does matter what shape it is in. Please be good with your money friends.

I agree with you 100%. Old school values and proper spending techniques need to be re-instilled into our Nation before it is too late. A child or 2 in a suffering Country may kill you for a chance to eat that McNugget, but the person who bought it has most likely placed it into a glass container and presents it as a conversation piece to friends.

Thank you for the best response! ya, true not only for a chicken nugget but for a very simple bread people can go out of control by any means, who is hungry for days; and in this world there are lots of people like that. By the way I did not mean to add that picture of tree with my response. I was uploading pic at the same time while responding to discussions, I have no idea how it came here.

Well they do say you can buy anything on Ebay and some people have more money than sense don't they. I've seen all sorts of rubbish selling on there, imaginary friends, a ghost, some boy listed his granny not that long ago. Even if I did have money to waste I don't think I would be tempted - or at least I hope I would have more sense!

I agree 100%. Maybe if I had enough money to buy useless things i would probably loose some sense too, but I sure wouldn't loose enough to actually buy them. Especially if they don't even exist (imaginary friend) or they could easily go rotton or mold.

Not really. In the end its nothing more then a passing fad. As humans we always seem interested in the most tervial mondane things. To be quite honest it just doesn't seem really that worth it to me. Sorry to sound like a sceptic, but I've heard the romurs and don't believe a single one of them.

Oh, that is just tooo absurd! How does the purchaser plan to preserve it? You can't set it out to show off, it will rot. Freeze it? Why? Some of use have too much money and too much time on our hands!

Oh how I love ebay! I am an ebay fanatic, but some of the things that people sell on there I really strange/hillarious. Unfortanatly this is not the strangest thing that I have seen sold on Ebay. I have seen someone selling their soul I believe, and the imaginary friend thing up in box one is pretty funny too. I am sure the soul thing was all a big joke though, but I wonder how many bids the person got.lol.

Even if could afford spending so much money on nothing i would never buy something like that. I don't see any value in an object that will eventually rot and that has no artistic value of sort. People are really strange :)

Hi forumfanatic, Thats wat ebays all about. Random crap. If you listen to the ebay song by werid al, you wll hear just a bunch of werid random stuff. And in my opinion, i dont think we have gone too far because if we want, we get. Simple as that. A mcnugget and ipod are basically the samething when we come to buying it. You, want it, you get it.

hey forumfanatic! That is one of the stupidest things that could happen! I think the Americans are going a little too overboard now! Like honestly!! a 150 dollar nugget shaped as America! What is next? Popsicles shaped like the queen? It is just so stupid. I remember once when there were being auctions sold at this one location in England. I saw this on the news and Found out that there was a painting that had just one black dot on the middle of it and it was sold for $1.5 million!! You know why it was sold for that much??? It is because the painting was the first one to be auctioned of that kind. Apparently there was only that painting in the entire world that had a white background and a black dot in the middle. I find it really stupid that everyone wastes so much money on stupid things like nuggets and paintings when really, they should be giving money to the poor, like cities in Africa and Asia. they really need the money. They can barely raise enough money to feed their family and over here, we are spending money like monkeys! Wasting it on stupid things like nuggets and paintings. I think if the entire world read this topic, then ti would really change and influence them! Oh well, have a fabulous day and have loads of fun mylotting! Punjab911

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The greed of the West has condemned third world countries in Africa to famine, starvation and disease. Of course these countries should have been able to develop by themselves to a level that is similar to that of the West. But the fact remains they haven't. People will continue to die from disease that are commonly treated by your family physician back home as a consequence of their fate. When stories like the one that you have mentioned pops up, it does sadden me, considering those funds could have helped so many people that are far less fortunate than you and I. For instance that 150 dollars could have sponsored a child in an African village for about 6 months, allowing them to go to school and would have supported their village. Like wise did you know it only costs $25 in donations to restore the sight of one person in Africa? Three out of four people do not need to be blind, cataracts and other ocular diseases have reduced the standards of living for so many people. Such items sold on eBay are an absolute disgrace!

Wow, people will only buy weird things, but when it comes to normal stuff nobody bids. Many people seems to need some sort of guidance, someone who will tell you what is good and what is wrong, an easy explanation, even if it's a lie, for the things you don't understand. Those people will feel better having something to cling into, like a nugget with America's shape or a stone with the virgin Mary's face on it. It's sad.

wow that is just sad that anyone would bid on a chicken mcnugget, atleast that high of bid. I guess no one thinks that quite possibly they could just get something more sensible to display their patrotisim if that is what it is. If I wanted something to signify or represent a want or need I'd sooner buy it offline then online, and I'd be sure it wasn't something that could rot, get thrown away accidentally etc!

It is crazy. I have seen items similar to these on news reports and it never really looks like what they believe it to. I think that some of these people who see Jesus on a piece of toast, or whatever, are looking for answers to other questions. Whoever buys these items has obviously got a lot more money then sense. Surely if they feel the need to spend the money then why not give it to charity and do some good with it, instead of buying complete rubbish.

I think that's the funniest thing I've seen in ages! And I also think that as long as people are willing to pay good money (I could do so much with $150!) for tat, these stories will continue - and, in fact, may become even more absurd... (It doesn't beat the 'humorously shaped vegetable contest' in my Nan's village, though. )
