I have just ordered 4 netbooks for the children so that they can do their own thing on the internet rather than using the pc as well as arguing over it.I did not want to spend too much so i decided on a netbook rather than a laptop. They can do their games aswell as what ever else they have to do for school on it.

After you get them all connect to your ISP I hope you will start a discussion about how easy or hard that was, and whether having them all working at once makes any noticeable different in your speed. Do they all have wireless cards or will you have to use Ethernet cables?

Can I know what brand you bought? Did you buy all the netbooks from the same company? What is the difference between netbook and laptop? I have to buy two laptops now, one for my daughter who joined college now and another one for my partially handicapped husband. He is finding it difficult to sit before pc. So laptop will be easy for him.

Times have sure changed. Now children have cellphones, and netbooks. But considering the changing times, if they are able to use these pieces of technology responsibly, then I am all for it. I think it is great that children can have their own things, so as not to cause fights among their parents and siblings about who gets to use what, when.

That's a great idea! I hope to get my grandson one of those. He is seven and loves to go to legos.com and such sites to play the games they have on there. We did very little this year but next year I think that would be a great gift for him. I think it will be very nice for the kids to each have one of their own.

I think that children do need to have their own computers in this day and age, so I think that buying netbooks for them is a really good idea. My children, however will not have netbooks because I don't think they will be able to take care of them. We do have a desktop computer for our oldest, but we've told her that it will not be set up until she takes the time to get her room cleaned up. Right now her bedroom is a disaster area and there is really no place to get her computer set up at.

Smart decision! This way all your kids get a device all to their own so there's no squabbling over access. Four netbooks is also a lot more affordable than four laptops or four desktops so it's good for your finances also.

Wow you are a good parent ,I like the notion of every child haeving their own because it teaches them independence and to strive to have their own stuff rather than borrowing and being a menace to others and it should also help their school work too as each child should get more time to do homework

I found a great deal on some netbooks on ebay. I am watching them now and may actually get my oldest daughter one of them this year. I have been really fighting with myself over it though because I limit her computer time and that would open it up big time..lol.My little one likes webkinz and games and I would be a lot more comfortable with getting her one but that would not fly with the elder..lol.

Netbooks and laptops are about the same thing. Unless you are refering to a minni. Though if you stop and think of all the excereries youll need for it, perhaps a laptop would've been the way to go. More power to you.
