Does being honest worthy makes sense in work and career?

Hi amy! Honesty is most important in one's life. One cannot survive in the long run if he is dishonest in his career or in any relationship. Honest workers are always appreciated and applauded. I try to be honest as much as possible in discharge of duties in my office and towards maintaining relations. I know that if I am honest, others will come to know about it sooner or later. What about you?

"Honesty is the best policy" is an old adage which doesn't seem to be widely acted on today, but I believe it always has been and always will be the best way. Workplace theft has reached enormous proportions, with staff stealing paper, envelopes, and all manner of office stationery and other supplies, not to mention not giving as much time as they are paid for. Loafing on the job is stealing and therefore dishonest. Too many people think that because they are overtaxed it is quite OK to cheat on their tax returns or to accept cash payment for work and not declare it as income. If I know a person is doing this type of thing, how would I trust him/her in any other way? Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy.

I totally agree with you amyson. I see lot of dishonesty than honesty. They may have to pay back in their own coins in future. But presently they are happily living and honest people are only suffering. But God will not leave them, I know that. If not now, later on they have to set right their debits. I try to be honest to myself. No one need to give me certificate or believe me. I am answerable to my own self after God.

Of course as the saying goes honesty is the best policy which is very true at all. Though, most of the times being honest is being tested and many have been tempted to deceive,cheat, betrayal through trickery and forgery either verbal or non verbal communication or when the need arises, such as in work, a lady could get rapidly promoted than the older employees because she tempt the boss, presence of nepotism and unscrupulous employer. Then, in term of relationship even though it hurt every couple as much as possible need to be honest to each other to have a long lasting and trusting relationship revealing even the skeleton in the closet. Their are instances dishonesty could either be a white lies which commonly uses to the benefit of the person lying or to defend someone in order to avoid offense which one find unattractive. In every relationship honesty is important and if one have committed unfaithfulness to her/his partner need to admit it in order to be forgiven or face the consequences of her/his actions which is better than keeping it to oneself with the risk of losing your loved ones. Though, it may hurt a partner to know the truth it is better than telling lies all the time.

Hello amyson this is checkmail and think begin honest in our work and carrer is the best thing to do, as our goals and aims would be acheived more easily and quickly.Yeah there have been also some dishonest peoples with dishonest attitude, but still managed to qualify to sucess, but its only an luck by chance, and not by own efforts or knowledge.Myself am following an honest attitude in mine work as well as in mine career and would acheive mine target within some time, though its taking time, mine reward would be that much more than the dishonest one's.Anyways enjoy Mylotting.

Honesty is something that I have always taken with a pinch of salt. Since childhood, I was taught that honesty is the best policy and that to cover up for one lie, I’d have to invent a thousand other lies and so on! However, life has taught me that complete honesty is not always the best policy. One should understand the situations and circumstances in which a lie would literally save a life or save a job! Instead of being illogically rigid about such things, we should be flexible and treat each situation on its merit and on the prevalent dos and donts of society.

I think you have made a good point about first being true within your self in order to be trusted by everyone. i think you(and I) have to be honest with your self in order to improve at whatever your doing

hi amyson the fact that some are dishonest does not excuse me from being honest and trustworthy. I was always honest and trustworthy in the two jobs that I held for years. How could one work with others and not be honest? Most dishonest people get caught sooner or later and must pay for their dishonesty sometimes quite highly too. No dishonesty does not belong in the workplace or in a career either.Besides a person has to look at herself in the mirror and I could not face myself if I knew I had been less than honest.

yes, it is most of the time and being honest is a good values. It is like telling the truth whether wrong or right rather than suppressing it. In work it is a need to gain trust of employer and co-employees. The same thing with love to be trusted by partner for longer relationship requires a need to be open minded.

I know i am an honest person. Whether it is career or not, it is really good to practice honesty, BUT not all the time you should be honest. it still depends on the situation, if it is for the greater good, why be honest if you know how to lie and if you know that it is for the benefit of the majority. Anyway, there is no such thing as right and wrong in this world depending upon on the people who will perceive it. For others doing a lie is good and for others are not. It is the same with killing others, for some people killing is not good and for some it is really bad. Have a great day.

Sure they say honesty is the best policy their is but guess what sometimes honesty is not a good thing cause it may put your job and risk. Now don't get me wrong honesty is good but alot of times when you work at a job they dont care how long you have been there or how honest or even how hard working you were they can and will throw you out without a single care in the world thus leaving you and your kids out in the cold.

yeah, they are important as the trust in any field you belong requires to be honest that your boss and your co-employees respect you and build stronger integrity in your own personality. It encourages harmonious relationship and a form to be promoted and get notice for good behavior.
