I do not know what I am going to do with my job! My hours were cute [yet again] today. I was LITERALLY on the clock for 5 minutes and they sent me home. Was not even worth the gas money spent to get there! Any one having issues of any kind with their job? I am sooo frustrated!!

I was like that for about three months at a job, everytime they would send me home practically as soon as I clocked in. i ended up quitting. It wasn't worth me finding a babysitter and gas to go to work like that. I would try as much as you can to find somewhere else that you could be full time and make it worth your while. I wish you the best of luck, I know now with the holidays many probably won't hire until after the first of the year and the economy doesn't hurt.

Isn't there a law somewhere that says you have to be paid at least 2 hours (or is it 4?) if you show up for work, and you get sent home because they don't need you. This is really unfair, and very frustrating. In your other discussion, I thought you could wait for next year before you start looking for another job. I was mistaken, you should start now. I know it's hard, but you should spend your free time now to look for other options. Again, good luck!

That is true. I have been looking a lot for other jobs, they are just few and far between. Plus, I do not have a car so it has to be a night job so my mom can take me. There is a daycare center close, maybe I can see about getting my license and I can walk there. I mean, might as well being doing something I love...

HI, well, is that cuz of the restaurant slow that day? it happened to my friend, she worked at Sizzler... once the restaurant was starting to slow then they started to sent people home. I dont know about that policy but my policy is to call before they show up... lolz If you dont like the job there then you should start to look for another one. but while you are looking then just keep working there as normal. hope it will getting better for you

Yes, it is because of business. There is a formula for checking labor and they are needing to save $200 in labor by next week [from the owners mouth] I could go on all day about the owner but Im not even going to get into that. I think, like you said, I will just work like nothing is wrong until I can find something better, then Im OUT. :)

Sorry to hear about your plight and I think your employess are cold heartless people to send you home after five minutes knowing the expenses you would have incurred ,maybe this will work out for the best anyway .I hope you find a new job in time and have a good day

Chels I think you need to try and find a new job, I mean that is just so awful, you rely on your Wages and they should not mess you about like that Sweet, it is not fair specially at this time of the Year I can't understand how they can do that anyway, surely you have a contract with them which means they should stick to the Hours you where employed with

I know! [i mean, come on, christmas is Right around the corner] I just got paid yesterday and because of the crappy hours, I bought gifts for everyone [nothing extravagent, just something I could afford] and now I only have like $50 to my name! I cannot live like this much longer. $50 cannot last a person 2 weeks. Thank god I did not have bills this week.

That's bad if they send you home, they could just give you a free day then. My boyfriend has 4 free days per month unpaid because he is working in a State's institution and my country has hit by economical crises very hard so they are reducing everything in my country they can. Sad but we have to deal with it...because unemployment in my country is very big and it is almost impossible to find other job here...so everything we can do is go and work to other country what lots of my citizens are doing already...sad but it is life here...ok, have a happy mylotting!!!!

chelsgrrl69 hi I am retired but my friend Nelda who works for an insurance decapitation agency was telling me they might have to take work furloughs occasionally now to keep their jobs. at least that way you know ahead the days you will be off and not have the irritation of coming in and having to go back home at once. they have laid off a lot of people in her workplace but she was assured she was not one of them who was going to get the pink slip. the economy here in California really sucks and its not improving at all.

Same way here in Florida, You are so lucky if you are fortunate enough to have a job here. Why does the hardest time in my life[when im trying to establish myself] have to be an epic disaster in the economy?!?! RRRRRGH!!

I'm not paid hourly, so it's sort of the other way around. I sometimes have to work overtime and I don't get paid for it. On the other hand, I don't have to clock in and out, and if I have to leave early or something, it's not a big deal. So there's a good side and a bad side to it.

Hi, chers. I am very sorry to hear that they cut your hours and sent you home. That is how some jobs do when there is no money to give to their employees. And they just control how they want to keep you as an employee. It is like you don't have any say so at your job. That is the main reason why I don't work outside of the home, is because of issues like this. I don't like it when my hours or cut.

No. Your place of employment should have been kind to give you the call. How large is the company you work for? Large companies probably wouldn't but usually small businesses will. This happened to my brother a few times. HE works for a printing company. They actually called him in on Saturday only to send him back when he got there. He was pissed, lol

That is completely wrong to do to you. The way that I see it, if they are going to send you home, they should at least pay you for one hour for your time. I know that when I worked at the hospital there were times that they would either call us in or call us off. If we were called off before our shift began, then we were not paid at all. If we were not needed after we got there, we still got to stay for at least four hours of which we were paid for.

I feel your pain, that use to happen to me all the time, except I was usually there for more than 5 minutes, that is definitely a waste of your time and the gas you spent to get there. Right now I'm currently unemployed and I haven't been able to find anything at all. I wish I could find something to do at home besides mylot since mylot won't pay my rent or other bills but so many online work at home jobs are scams and that's the last thing I want to be involved in. I know a lot of people who are having trouble job wise, either not being able to find one or their hours are getting drastically cut. Right now it doesn't matter if someone has a college degree or not, nobody can find work. A lot of my friends graduated from college in the last year or two and they can't find any work at all, I'd like to attend college someday in the future but right now I can't afford it, if I can't even afford all my bills I'm definitely not taking out student loans or anything. We can only hope that things will get better eventually because right now it's not looking that bright if you ask me. I hope you get your hours back eventually, if they know their going to send people home like that they shouldn't even have put you on the schedule, honestly...it's a total waste of your time and your gas you had to spend money on to put into your car.

its really frustrating chelsgrrl69 but i would rather look for another job that would welcome me everytime i clock in and show some hospitality. you just cant bear with the same bad situations all the time. im sure you are very eager to leave them and i would suggest better have a new job before the year ends coz im sure you dont want to start the year clocking in only to be sent home again. goodluck to you and i wish you all the best. happy mylotting!

The job market is horrible right now. I know there are many people (including me) who had to settle for less. Oh well, I guess I am thankful that I get 40 hours a week. Then again, I am only make about a $1.45/hour more than minimum wage and have been working at the same place for over 1.5 years. Oh well. All I can say is stay strong and keep the hope.
