Your friend has been advised by his physician to take fruits only for daytime for an objective purpose of loosing his weight but I think loosing weight in that fast scheme of fruits only will make your friend weak and loose energy for his body is not used in the present eating patterns. Fruits are nutritious, It is possible to survive with fruits only but this will eat too many for a person to gain enough energy as compared to those who eat meats and carbohydrate foods. But, the best thing about fruits is that IT does not produce bad cholesterol in the body, IT HELPS convert bad cholesterol fats in the body to a GOOD CHOLESTEROL FATS needed by the body. as compared to some foods like commercial foods, they can produce bad cholesterol in our body and that is the reason why his doctor suggested it. Fruits has many good acids that can only metabolize and convert bad fats and chemicals in the body. They help fight cancer cells too.

It's hard to have a balanced diet just eating fruits...actually impossible I would think, but if you just ate fruit in the day and then had a big dinner it might work out. However, I wonder why the doctor didn't tell your friend to just eat vegetables instead. If he eats a wide variety of vegetables (better without butter), he would have all the nutrition he would need and lose weight also.

I would be a little cautious of eating just fruit because there are nutrients in other foods that your body needs, too. If your friend's doctor advised him to only eat fruits, he's probably monitoring his health and will see if a problem develops. You need protein and fat, B vitamins and so on, that fruit doesn't have. That's why you still feel a little hungry no matter how much fruit you eat.

I like fruit but I don't think that eating only fruit for daytime meals is healthy in the long term. You do need vegetables, proteins and whole grains to nourish your body

Absolutely I have lot of fruits with me.As they are a good source of energy which we require atleast for our daily work to complete. So Sometimes they provides me that much of power that i do not need to take any meal then, also their tastes are too Good.

I don't think fruits can replace meals. We need rice, wheet, and other grain.

I do eat a lot of fruits but my prupose is not to reduce my weight! Just eating fruits is not enough!A health body needs all kinds of nutruition. If he just eat the fruits, he will be not healthy! I think the best way to reduce weight is both excersing and controlling diret.

i think i can go on that since there are a lot of fruits available and there really are a lot of fruits i have yet to taste. a few years back, i thought of going on to a fruit diet for a week, unfortunately i cannot since fruits here in the country are not good for the pockets..i mean, yes they cost lower but of course, for you to have that feeling of fullness, you have to eat a lot of fruits, and since most (i think) do not contain a lot of fiber and mostly they are just liquid/fluid, then despite eating a lot, you will still feel a bit hungry. Nonetheless, the nutrients and vitamins you would get from having to go through that diet would make you healthier. Not only on the inside but really would make your skin, face, your overall feeling healthier and won't feel down and sad most of the times. Trust me, i've tried being really healthy and the feeling inside really can't be contained so your skin glows, your attitude/reactions/or whatever you might call it becomes pleasant and all.

Eating only fruits is possible but you can't have it for a long term, say a week to 10 days is ok. Even in fruits if we choose water content fruits like watermelon then it will be great, as you will be taking very less calories but you will feel content after having a bowl. This way we can loose weight faster than eating high calorie fruits.
