It's getting to be cookie time of the years again. I was just looking up variations of cake mix cookie recipes, and was wondering if anyone had ever added oatmeal to the recipe. Does it work?

I never use cake mix cookie recipes before but prefer to measure each ingredients to make cookies or cakes. I add oatmeal to make my chocolate chips. No harm in experimenting and modifying the mixture.

am also a cookie monster. I used to bake varieties of cookies in the dozens. This time I have not baked any cookies since moving to my new residence. My kitchen used to be filled with that nice aroma of freshly baked cookies every december for christmas.

I love cookies in that it's so easy to experiment with ingredients and add-ins. Cakes are trickier in that they have to grow when baking, and thus less forgiving. I make 10 to 15 different batches of cookies for the holidays and then make up cookie plates with the variety. It's a huge time savers to 'cheat' of a few of the batches with cake mixes. Plus they are nice and soft, where most of my other recipes are for crispier ones. Adds a nice variety.

Catlda, cookies are not my specialty. If you ask me about chicken or fish curries, I can help you. Sorry dear.

Using curry is one thing I don't have a lot of experience with. If you'd like to PM me your favorite chicken curry recipe, I'd love to try it. My family isn't big on fish, unless I fry it, but they like chicken. Thanks in advance!

yummy. it sounds like something i would try. i think the economy is making us all try new and different concotions i know i've made things just out of need to replace some things i didnt have or to fix up left overs we normally would not have eaten. like i had no idea i could actually make a delicious turkey and/or chicken salad. never tried it before but had to find some way to finish off that freaking turkey after the intitial soup, etc. it turned out wonderful.

I'm the queen of leftovers. Anytime you have a lot of something leftover let me know, I'll give you some ideas. My family is famous for not wanting to have leftovers and I hate to throw anything away. Guess it's the Yankee in me...lol. I've gotten good at 'repackaging' them into something new, and they can't tell the difference.

When you make cookies you don't add oatmeal but rather the dry oats (steel rolled oats are best). Never add instant oatmeal. Of course it works or millions of kids wouldn't have those delicious oatmeal cookies with or without nuts and raisins. Good cookies!
