Hello, Actually I think brushing before you go to sleep is more necessary than doing it in the morning. The food particles are deposited on your teeth no matter how you wash them or gargle. After some complicated chemical reactions it emits kinda organic acid that is a major reason for tooth decay. But brushing your teeth too many times is bad though. If you brush too frequently there is a possibility that the enamels may wear out. That can be a big issue in future. Thanks for starting the discussion Take care God bless you all

hi. no, i don't. i brush my teeth thre times a day or even four when the need arises. i'm not comfortable talking to people without brushing my teeth. but don't get me wrong, i'm not obsessed about brushing my teeth. i choose my toothbrush with soft or medium hard bristles. brushing your teeth is necessary to attain healthy teeth and gums free from any tooth decay. also, your mouth won't stink specially after eating food with very strong smell like durian or dishes with onions. when your set of teeth isn't really good and there happens to be a space between your teeth, you might as well use a dental floss. food stuck between our teeth causes bad breath, too. sometimes i just use dental floss and brush later if i'm on the run and gargle with mouth wash or spray some breath freshener. each person have different preferences about oral hygiene. if you deal with talking to people a lot, it feels good when you brush your teeth regularly. my dentist say that brushing twice or three times a day isn't a guarantee that your teeth and gums are free from any problems. instead it's the brushing technique that's more important. smile with confidence!

I brush my teeth twice a day and sometimes thrice. I am not clear about its necessity. I am just used to it. Otherwise I don't feel good. So I think that it can be a habit of ours whatever we do.

Definetely yes, and some times I do it thrice a day. One in the morning at lunch and before I go to sleep. Well, I guess its kinda compulsion but I used to it. It's like I get irritated when I don't brush my teeth that often. Well, my doctors advice was brushing our teeth 3 times a day is much helpful or healthier, that's because we are eating a lot of different kinds of food in a whole day so we need to clean them up so it wont stuck and become tooth decay that will destroy our healthy teeth and gums.

Hi, ramaswamyvtkv. No, I don't brush my teeth twice a day. I do brush them everyday though. Yes, brushing is necessary. It keeps germs from forming. It is good to brush them before you go to sleep to keep the bacteria down.

I don't think it's necessary. I actually like to brush after I eat if I can. I'm not obsessive about it at all though.

For the most part I do brush twice a day but on occasion I have gone to bed without brushing. I think it is important to brush at least twice a day. My dentist actually has told me that it would be best to brush after every meal, which I guess is understandable just not very practical for most people.

Hi Ramas Yes, I brush twice every day, as dentists say it takes only twelve hours for certain things on the teeth to turn into plaque, which is not good for the teeth or the gums. Hence I brush morning and night. Karen

Yes,I think it is necessary.I brush twice a day.One on the morning when i get up.One before i go to bed.I know some people just brush on the morning, because they must make themselves clean then go to work ,but ignore the night,in fact, brush at night is necessary too. For girls who want to lose weight, the suggestion is brush your teeth as early as possible, then don't eat anything before you sleep. While for the other people, brush before sleep can restraint the multiply of the bacteria. It is good for your teeth.

Ya,I do brush my teeth twice a day. I used to forget doing so even quite a few years back but as all the dentists suggest it I do make it a point to brush my teeth twice a day,its just a habit, once you get used to it you generally don't forget. Even if you put the health reasons aside, brushing your teeth makes you feel fresh, at least I feel so. Its a good practice,so you should develop it also!

I think it is necessary to brush your teeth twice a day. I brush mine first thing in the morning before breakfast, then if I am at home, after lunch, then again in the evening. Debris from food left on the teeth can form into tartar and then start attacking your teeth that can lead to complications later on in life. - Derek

Ideally, one should brush each time they eat something. Since this is not always practical, I would say just brush as frequently as you can and be sure to floss at least once a day to avoid periodontal disease.

You only have to brush and floss the teeth you want to keep. So if you only want 20 teeth when you are 50, only brush and floss those 20. If you want to keep all your teeth, then you need to take care of all of them. My dentist says he won't take anyone for a patent if they don't take good care of their teeth. I don't know if he is just making a point, or if he means it, but I take care of my teeth because I want to keep all of them for life.

Hiee ramas I brush twice a day ^_^.. no my dentist didn't told me,. ^_~ my dad actually forced me to brush twice a day when i was a kid :D ,. that had becomed a habit to me. I don't go to bed before doing brush,.it a good habit that i had got.If we don't brush in night & go for sleep then the bacteria stored by food while having out dinner gets in to action & attacks our teeth in night,. thats why when we woke up some times it smells very badly if we didn't brushed last night. So i recommend you to brush twice a day to keep a healthy gums & teeth ^_^ Happy mylotting :D

I brush twice a day. In the morning, so all the germs that came out while I was sleeping would be wiped out, and my breath would smell fresh. And in the evening, so all the unseen leftover foods would be cleansed, and I don't get tooth decay or holes. I HATE going to the DENTIST. I'm terrified of them!!
