Have you resolved all your discussions for this year?

I realized that awarding BR is the most difficult part of mylotting. One needs to come up with the most crucial decision to whom will be the most appropriate recipient as many had come up with their own striking views to vie or not to vie for this prestigious mylot trophy, if you can call that mylot trophy . Another consideration is not hurting the feelings of friends who had been supporting our posts from the start. Where do I stand here? I wish to be fair to all concerned and not randomly pick anyone that strike my eyes but not my reasoning. You can be outright good in your views but if it doesn't resolve the discussions it is no point of awarding the BR. There have to be certain line of words in the response that excel from the rest that can trigger the mind to finally award the BR. I don't know how you do it but for me I look for something that is uniquely worded which can fit in well to the subject of discussion. I have received BRs in the past and they aren't the best of the best but still the starter of the discussion think otherwise and feel it is right to give when the response has strike the right code with the topic. I am happy to be chosen as the recipient and am sure the starter of the discussion is also happy that he/she has resolved his/her discussion. This is something everyone should bear in mind that all discussions should be resolved and BR be awarded in accordance to the wishes of mylot. I wish to resolve all my discussions for this year and usher the new year with a fresh start. We are only hours away from new year and hope you are doing the same. All that starts well ends well for this year. Wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year.

Hi Zandi, I don't see any reason to change my usual way of keeping the unresolved discussions down to no more than three pages and resolving them a few at a time. I generally leave them for a few weeks though sometimes I'll give one early if a question has been resolved. I don't find it difficult either to choose as I tend to remember which response stood out the most for me. I've never given a thought to someone being offended by not having their response chosen as I don't think people respond with that in mind at all. Quite often the BR will go to a friend as a lot of them visit my discussions. Really for me its just a case of going on my instincts and choosing the response which stood out for me the most, or creased me up with laughter.

Hi thea, I wish I have been up to date with my unresolved discussions by giving out the BR at designated time so I won't have to chase for time now to close my unresolved account. Now I need to take a day to reread and get to the bottom of all pending discussions.

Hi xuara1, I do respond to discussions that has been resolved and am not expecting to be awarded BR whenever I respond to any discussion. But would welcome it if awarded.

I don't thinkn whether BR has been rewarded or not really plays into most people's decision to reply or not. I know it doesn't for me. I don't reply to discussions for the BR, though I must admit it is nice to get them. However, for me I reply more to engage in the conversations and meet people. I'm not all that witty, so I probably wouldn't have anyone rolling on the floor with laughter or anything like that. I say what I think and can be sometimes a little too opinionated, but occasionally when I was here before I'd get the odd BR here or there, so it is pretty cool to get it now and then.

Oh now the pressure's on. No I haven't. I had a system. I would make sure that every time I posted a new discussion, I would go resolve my oldest discussion. but I didn't keep up with that and I am way, way behind!

Hi dawn, I can feel the pressure mounting now. I checked my unresolved discussions last night and to my horror I have 24 pages unresolved discussions which means I have around 240 discussions pending. Most of them are having few pages of responses which I think will make me vomit blood to finish them up before the countdown.

Hi Zandi! You are very right that we must resolve all our unresolved discussions. I also find it a tedious job and sometimes when I sit to resolve my discussions, I get lost in the responses and start posting comments/counter-comments (if I had earlier not done so) and forget that I was reading the responses for selecting the Best Response.......LOL!. I think it is a personal choice and whosoever starts the discussion has his/her own personal ideas about the core issue of any discussions and s/he accordingly awards the Best Response. I have many unresolved discussions pending, which I need to complete sooner than later. Thanks for reminding through your meaningful discussion.

I understand exactly the reasons behind all these delays in resolving our discussions. We are often being carried away while reading through all the responses and we end up giving our further comments instead of our original intention of awarding BR.

Many a times, we get lost in posting our counter-comments and completely forget that we were there to choose the BR.

Unfortunately I have not resolved all my discussions. I have started several discussions, some very popular so it is hard to pick the best response. I haven't been very active lately so it has become even harder as I forget which response I felt was the best. Sometimes I pick a BR but never get around to giving it. I agree with you on many things you said. I've also experienced receiving best responses for not-so-best-responses. I also look for something that is unique but also contributes the most to the discussion overall. I think sometimes it is better to wait to give BR because some people are discouraged or don't respond to a discussion because there is already a best response.

I will respond to all discussions which I can relate well regardless whether BR has been awarded or not. But it is good to delay awarding BR as it might deter people from responding when the BR has been awarded too soon. But since we are coming to the year end it is only fair that we finalize all pending discussions so we can start the new year fresh.

Hi Again, Coming to the selection of the best response it would be a tough call if at all the ones who responded to your discussion are true friends then they wouldnt feel bad for not giving it to their response rather they would appreciate you for being wise in handing over the Mylot Trophy to the best one. I have started many discussions but never selected a best response and nobody complained me about it and infact i thank them for taking some time to respond to all my discussions and involve in a funny chat with me. As far as i am concerned, making one happy or smile is far far more better than getting a Mylot trophy and i stand by it. I wouldt mine if you offer me a BR though

I must say we have only recently cross paths and I doubt whether you have come to any of my discussions previously except for the recent few. With your new inclusion in my discussions I may now have to use dice to pick the BR.Just kidding. You sure send smiles and laughter with your humorous ways.

Hi there zandi458! I have not worked on all my unresolved discussions yet. I tried to work on it this morning. It seemed like forever. Well, I ended up just resolving about two pages. I have about 8 more. I will try to work on some more in the next few days. I agree with you. It is not that easy as you have to go over all the responses especially if the discussion is quite old and with several pages of responses. Oh well, I'll be more diligent when it comes to this area next year...

I am happy to say that I am completely up to date! I awarded my last BR just tonight so I have no unresolved discussions! I don’t start more than one discussion at a time these days so it is not too difficult to stay o n top of those unresolved topics. It is not always easy to choose one response out of many sometimes and I have been known to agonise over the decision. I have received BRs from time to time and, although I consider it a wonderful compliment I never respond with that in mind. Happy New Year to you and yours!

Hi zandi, yes, i know the value of mbr and so i started a dis in this regard. Perhaps u have nt forgotted it. Anyway i feel troublesome to mark a response as best amongst too many gorgeous and fruitful responses. More than 50% mylotters are genius as well their responses. I think i have less than 15 unresolved dis. Among them there are some dis where i obtained more than 40 responses. I think that i shall leave them again for some weeks to judge. And for the rest, yaah i am going to resolved. Thanks.

Personally, I never started a discussion so far here at Mylot. I don't think it'll do me any good, because most of the discussions here already address what is on my mind...for the most part anyways. As long as I give my nickel, then I'm straight. I don't really care about best response, because each response given in the discussion (except for spam) gives it's own light to shed on the situation.

No, I have not yet resolved all my discussions, as I have only 3 of them and they all have less than 10 responses, and I have been a member less than a week. However, when I was a member before, I liked to let my discussions get at least 10 replies, or have them be up for a week, before awarding BR. This is because when I awarded it prior to this criteria being met, I would often get a better response after already hitting the mark best response link. I only joined myLot again on the 23rd, so I will not be awarding BR until the 30th or so, unless more people respond to my discussions and bring them up to 10. So, btw, this gives any of you guys a little time to get in and reply to them if you are interested, and have a shot at getting a BR. This would be especially great if you haven't been granted one before. Check my discussions I've started if you would like, and reply to whatever catches your eye if you'd like to. I sure would like to hear from some more cool people.

Welcome back to mylot. It is good to be back to where you have been before. I am sure as an experienced lotter you have set certain target before awarding your BR. Maybe it will take sometime to make your presence felt with your new identity.

Hi zandi. Yes, I did resolve all of my discussions for 2009. I make it a habit to resolve all my discussions within a week's time of starting it (unless there's a glitch on mylot, of course LOL), that way they don't build up. Plus, with me being on mylot for as long as I have a week should be more than enough time to find one that is worthy of BR. Sometimes I do find 2 or 3 in one discussion that are worthy of the honor and when that happens I normally pick the first one that gave the response as they did come up with it first. However, sometimes one of the others are even better than the first and when that happens I make sure to hold onto the responses in my inbox and I make my decision from there. Oh, and I currently have 1 unresolved discussion, but as I started it minutes after the new near started it doesn't count. LOL Happy mylotting and happy new year!

I failed to complete resolving all my discussions. I shocked myself to find out that there were 24 pages of unresolved discussions pending and could not rush to get all done towards the end of 2009. I have to bring forward to the new year to continue my mission. It has taught me a good lesson not to wait too long to resolve any discussions. Happy new year to you.

I have just written a huge response and it got lost somewhere in cyberspace :(. As I just said, I have been awarded many best responses and I beleieve this is because I try to help out the newbies and point them in the right direction. I dont tend to start many discussions but I am under the impresssion that all my discussions are now resolved. I normally wait a while to ensure I have recieved all the opinions I am going to get before I award it and I will give it to the person that has helped me most.

Hello zandi458 me too rec some best responses to my given response, and me too like to select an best response from mine discussions.Well i select the best response on its quality and knowledge about the subject, and also the technique used by the mylotter to respond. If everything or nearly matches my discussion subject and its qualities than would give it an best response.Mostly keep up an discussion on mylot for an week or two, to gather as many responses as possible.A few times found it difficult to select best response, as was having more good quality responses, than had to shotlist it with the knowledge qualities, and other stuffs. But still its an good practice to resolve our discussions.Well am still having some 4-5 discussions on mylot unresolved and would resolve it on day before new year.Wish to make an fresh start at mylot with this upcoming new year, Wish you an Happy new year.Happy mylotting.
