Why Can't We Get Steak Delivered??

Well? We can get pizza delivered...we can get Chinese foods delivered...we can...we can.... We can hope that's all we're hungry for when the office needs refreshments, or that pajama party runs out of snacks, or we need a quick boost during an all night cram session for a college test, or...or anything else for which we'd use a delivery service! Why is that?!? Let's face it, we're now primarily a service economy, since every thing we buy comes from China! Yet American companies refuse to recognize this & step up, to their economic detriment! Imagine what this could do for their reputation, not to mention their overhead! Think of being able to order other things than pizza & Chinese food. Oh, yes, I know there are some exceptions--burgers, for example, or occasionally you have (as we do here in Austin Texas) a service which will accommodate other businesses which don't deliver, but there's not a broad range of restaurants in their stable. And the word "exceptions" says it all, doesn't it? So let's see if there's not some entrepreneur out there in MyLot Land who would take the initiative & run with it! Come on, people! I want steak & masked potatoes, with a side of corn, & biscuits, & I'll take a bottle of I.B.C. Root Beer (finestkind)--oh!--& throw in a ripe jalapeno! Think beyond egg rolls! Think past pizza! I'm waiting, here...& I tip well! Maggiepie MERRY CHRISTMAS, & HAPPY 2010!!!

A friend of our owns a very small food joint in town called the Blue Trailer Grille...because it's housed in a small blue trailer. They sell a variety of items for breakfast, the standard burgers and dogs, cheesesteak subs, chicken fingers, fries and they have a fish fry every Friday night....and they deliver. As a rule they only deliver in town but, since the owner is the vice president of my husband's motorcycle club, they deliver to us. The only problem is that they close at 6:30. So, the closest we come to steak and mashed potatoes is fish, baked beans and cheese grits.

SPALL: Euw--cheese grits?? I'm a Texan, & that still sounds grotty to me! I'll take the fish & baked beans, though. Nice that you're so lucky! Maggiepie MERRY CHRISTMAS, & HAPPY 2010!!!

You've never had a cheesesteak sub??? You haven't truly lived until you've had one.

I'm thinking it may be the difficulty of keeping a steak warm and a salad cool all on one drive. You couldn't stack them like pizzas or put them in all the little boxes like Chinese food! Maybe there's too big of a chance of food poisoning. Plus steak is the kind of food you want to sit back and enjoy, the others you tend to wolf down!!

They do make suitable boxes for larger items, now, in fact, a variety of same. And they do stack. Plus, pizza deliverers have these large pouches which keep things warm, & they also keep salads & drinks cool, somehow, so it could be done! Food poisoning? Why would steak be more susceptible to it than some other item? And if we got steak, I'd enjoy every bite; I don't need to "wolf down" anything! Anyway, as I said, other foods are included in this wish besides steak. If steak doesn't turn out to "travel well," surely most others would! Maggiepie MERRY CHRISTMAS, & HAPPY 2010!!!

*sigh.....hold on, I'll warm up the Lear jet lol. actually, I CAN get steak delivered. there's a restaurant down the street that delivers and they do steak. But, how cool would an onsite barb'q service be to have... fresh hot steaks off the grill with out having to lift a finger. You call a place, place your order and with in 20 minutes, there's a guy with a portable bbq grille (already hot of course) and your meat, cooking it to order for ya. *********Hmmmmmmmm ya know, the more I read this back to myself, the more it seems to have merrit.

hi maggiepie gee you are right I had not thought of it that way.what an opportunity for some up and coming service to deliver steak maybe steak and onions or whatever one wants'as sides, or pork chops, or special hamburgers with all sorts of toppings, I guess one could add a lot of other foods too,'but this would really go over as it would be new and somethingpeople would really take to. Maybe some mylotter in the food'business might get some great ideas from this. it might even jump start our bad economy, too.

Well, not just steak--that was just one example. It could be anything! There's a wonderful Polynesian restaurant here from which I'd love to get things delivered! Even if it weren't all night! It's called "Satays," & I've bragged on it here in MyLot before...as I have on "Schlotsky's" sandwiches. Oh, man--one of their big round tasty monsters could feed 4 people! No, I mean all kinds of restaurants, not just steak--& despite the drawbacks pointed out by others here, I still think it could be managed. Imagine, though, a great ice cream place delivering enough for a party! GOOD ice cream, not that wussy stuff on sticks the kid's trucks deliver (complete with loud, repetitious tunes that blot out your TV or radios! Think of party platters made in the store, & sold at your doorstep! A lot less using up of gasoline (greenies? How do you feel about that?)! The possibilities are as endless as there are kinds of food! Maggiepie MERRY CHRISTMAS, & HAPPY 2010!!!

That's right Mags, be cruel, start off with the joys of Chinese food delivered then titilate me with the thought of steaks. No one delivers food here at all as there are no addresses and no one can find the houses. They do have pizza delivery service in town but it might be stone cold after they'd driven the motorbike over the mountain for an hour. Sobs. I used to love the Indian food which was delivered in the UK.

Well, sorry, but you've always told me how happy you are to live so far out of "mainstream" civilization; I thought you liked not having such decadent conveniences! But I also grieve with you re the British Indian food. I love the stuff, & I think I could probably curry everything but ice cream! Maggiepie MERRY CHRISTMAS, & HAPPY 2010!!!

you can get pretty much everything delivered here. including i would imagine steak. are you in a very small town? looks like there is the demand for a variety so there you go - business opportunity for you. now you get specialised pizza, indian and chinese places, and mixed baked potato and pasta type places. a lot will deliver pretty much everything though. and the e.g. pizzas and salads from indian takeaways are fine. good when your group has different tastes.

Well I guess if they did deliver everything not many People would go to a Restaurant any more so in a sense they would loose out and end up closing, so all these other Meals you can only order in a Restaurant, well that is what I thing also I think Chinese Pizzas and all that are a lot more in demand then our every Day Food

You can get pizza and Chinese food delivered? You should be so lucky. Nothing delivers where I'm at, so if I want it I have to go get it myself! LOL All this talk about food is making me hungry. I guess I better look in the fridge to see what there is to eat. Because at the moment I can't go to pick up any food...my husband took the car and I'm stuck out in the boonies! LOL Happy mylotting!

One time we had steak delivered for a work session that went late. Chewy. I'd rather have Chinese!

Hello, Maggie. Well, as a former chef, now medically retired, I can think of one good reason why you can't get steak delivered. When you got it, it wouldn't be how you ordered it. I'm proud that in my 30 years in the catering industry, nobody ever returned a steak to me because it wasn't how they wanted it. We cook a steak, and we make sure everything else is ready for the main attraction, because once the steak is ready, it has to go. A steak is an impatient creature. If it waits around, it carries on cooking in its own heat, and then it goes past what the customer ordered. If the steak was delivered, kept in the hot box, you could be served up with something that's only good for repairing shoes, rather than the medium rare you ordered.

That would be cool to have a cooked steak delivered to you. Here in Louisiana all we have is pizza delivery. But we do have something else that is similar to that though. You can get steaks delivered to your house after you order it. The only thing is that they come to your house frozen. You stil have to cook it.

Perhaps it is a midwest thing, but here in St. Louis there are several places that deliver steak and baked potatoes...fresh rolls & salad or veggies for sides. The is a company called "Off the Grill" that has a few locations here and I believe in Nashville. And then "Steak-Out" has locations more widespread over the US. They both offer entrees included grilled steaks, chicken and seafood in addition to sandwiches and sides.

If you're in Austin,TX how do you not have a delivery steak place? What a sacrilege! I'm surprised you don't have a place that delivers entire sides of the livestock of you choice and a complimentary pony keg of Shiner Bock! There are places in this great nation that do indeed deliver steaks. When I was in school at FSU we had a place called...wait for it..."Steak Out." Beautiful play on words. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. That was a long time ago, but in the modern world I've encountered numerous 'to go only' fine dining places. The last I saw was in Melbourne, FL. It was aptly named "Dinner2U." An entire team of chefs cooking just for you. They had a fleet of P/T Cruisers that brought high end entree's right to your door. Chicken Marsala, Rack of Lamb, and beautiful hand-cut steaks. If you don't have something like this in Austin you should start one, or at least call your congressman. Happy Hunting.

Hi, maggiepie. I know a place here in my town that delvers food and it is ran by an family. I don't know the name of this place because they are not listed in the phone book. If I had an Roadrunner, I would surely send this speedy animal to you with the steak and mashed potatoes.
